We had been in Key West all week and saved this for our last dinner out. Saved the best for last! It was a Saturday night and we had been on a dive all day and didn't think to make reservations; the staff was so nice and got us in right away. Amazing seats outside on the balcony. They were out of the key lime martini so I went with the cucumber and it was very refreshing for a hot night. Lobster mac and cheese is the best I've ever had. SO good. Swordfish, very very good. This was one of our stops for a food tour and I'm so glad it was included! The house is beautiful and holds intimate table settings and an upstairs bar with more dining options. We had the lobster Mac and cheese with bachumel sauce and it was a 10/10! The lobster was in every bite and the sauce stuck to the spiral noodle like it was holding on for dear life in the best way. We had an amazing meal at Bagatelle, at the perfect table on the second floor in the corner just overlooking Duval Street. The old house is a beautiful setting, though beware the small, narrow stairs if you're going up and down to your table. We were warned not to eat on the main level due to all the street noise. And with this place just across an alley from Hog's Breath, there are a ton of motorcycles that scream by during your dinner. Our server was great and very patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. I loved the lobster mac and cheese, though there weren't big chunks of lobster in it...just very small pieces mixed into the sauce. Still, it was very tasty. The drawback was that at the end of the meal, we requested to split the check and the server informed us that she was not able to at that point. First visit we had Corned Beef and Hash (the best hash I've ever had) and the Country Benedict with pulled pork on cornbread. Both delicious. On our second visit, we had the Trio Seafood Omlete and Crabcake Benedict. Again, they score another hit. We didn't get a chance to hit there for dinner, but definitely would if we had more time. We were lucky enough to to dine here on Easter weekend with our good friends who live here. You know you can always trust a restaurant when a local brings you. For starters we all had drinks. I selected a glass of French Viognier, my husband enjoyed a Margarita. We also shared a scrumptious Crab Cake filled with lump blue crab with a passion fruit vinaigrette. For entrees, I chose the Swordfish and husband chose the Tuna. The presentation of these dishes was on point and exquisite. The Swordfish was lightly blackened along with the black bean/corn risotto. Add the broccolini with the poblano cream sauce and this dish was pure perfection. Always a perk to be next to the sea when dining on fish. You know it's fresh! The Sesame crusted rare yellowfin tuna was served on a bed of chilled Udon noodles with edamame and a spicy peanut dressing. I couldn't take my eyes off this plate till I nabbed a bite. Again just incredibly tasty. Our friends enjoyed the Swordfish and the fish special of the evening. Unfortunately I was so caught up in my own meal that I failed to obtain the description of my friends dish. For dessert, we selected the Key Lime pie because when in Florida, this pie is a must. The pie itself was insanely good. My only negative was it had way too much merengue on top this just wasn't needed. The other dessert we ordered was an apple crunch was mediocre at best. I had the Lobster Tail Risotto and also shared a Filet Mignon. Presentaton was impressive. Lobster was cooked just right and the risotto was succulent. The steak was cooked to perfection and nice size too. I also loved the Lobster Mac. My gawwd. To die for. So if you're looking for good surf and turf, this place is a must right on Duval Street. Opt to sit outside if you like to people-watch or enjoy a beautiful night with your friends. Can't wait to go back again here. It's not super expensive. We had a reservation for a party of 9. We were supposed to have it in the upstairs space but when we got there, they told us our table was given to another group because they arrived before us. We ordered the warmed Brie and cinnamon rolls, but both were brought out cold. They did end up bringing out an actually warmed Brie and warm cinnamon rolls. One person in our group ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was well undercooked. They ended up remaking her food but she didn't get it until everyone was done eating. We were also supposed to have champagne but did not get it. Our server then brought out a pie for the mistakes. However when we received our bill, it was on there. She offered to give us the pie free or a 10% discount on our bill. We ended up speaking with a manager later in the day (who was not working at the time of our brunch) and he comped our whole meal, which was the best customer service we received the whole time.
