The crab was so fresh! I got snow crab legs with cajun seasoning in a bag. I got the 2nd spicy-ness level but next time I'll get the spiciest one! Love this spot, found this place randomly when I had a crawfish craving. They have various crawfish sauce options From Chinese to Cajun traditional. I went for the Chinese option with the 13 spices and man o man were they bomb!! I've tried the traditional whole Shabang but if you like flavor and spice try the Chinese 13 spice. Also, Bc it's crawfish season rn, the price per lb for crawfish is $10/lb, what a deal!!! I ended up ordering two more lbs to go. I've been to Boiling Crab and Kickin Crab many times and couldn't have been more excited for Bag O' Crab's opening in Berkeley! They have their soft opening right now and everything is 15% off! Parking and Location Located in Downtown Berkeley, parking is for sure difficult to find. There is only street parking (free after 6pm Mon-Sat and free all day Sunday) and a parking across the street in a lot for a hefty fee. I would recommend coming early to look for parking since it's very difficult to find during busy hours. The location of the restaurant is a hot spot for college students, but the restaurant was relatively empty when we went today, surprisingly. Service We had two friendly waitresses. One of them was Coco, and we couldn't catch the name of the other waitress. They brought us aprons and gloves for our meal. They checked up on us often and asked us about the food and improvements since the restaurant had just opened. Food We ordered the Cajun Fries and 2 lbs of Shrimp with the Atomic Sauce and medium spice. Sadly they don't allow substitutes for any of the combos. The shrimp came out first and had plenty of sauce. The shrimp itself was a bit overcooked but still delicious with the sauce. The sauce is very typical like the ones at Boiling Crab or Kickin Crab. As for the cajun fries, they were good but did not have enough seasoning. I found that they tasted best when dipped in the Atomic sauce. Overall, our meal was tasty and enjoyable. The restaurant was not crowded at all, but I'm thinking that will change soon. Bag O' Crab is already so great with just their soft opening! The broth that it's boiled in is soooo delicious! It's not just water - it's a fabulous sauce, which you can choose from many varieites. The garlic is very generous if that's what you order. I brought the extra sauce home to enjoy again and again. A very unique treat! So I'm from the school of Cajun seafood boils. Having spent some of my childhood in New Orleans, my homemade boils only use Cajun seasoning. So when I moved to California, places like Boiling Crab were a bit foreign to me because they serve seafood that mixes cajun seasoning with other seasonings to have more of a lemony taste. I like it too, though I still like my home boils with just cajun seasoning. This place is just like Boiling Crab so you don't have to go to San Jose anymore! So we got Combo C here, I like that they package the options for you into combos though you can certainly also order by the pound. Combo C is a pound of shrimp and a pound of your choice of king crab legs or dungeness crab. We opted for the king crab legs, which were super tasty. It also came with corn and sausage. Separately, we ordered a side of fries and the fried calamari. If you're getting the fried calamari, no need to order a side of fries! We didn't realize that it also came with fries and we noticed that a few other tables did the same thing and had too many fries. Combo C was more than enough for two people and we left feeling very full. I would definitely come back to this place, probably to try the garlic noodles too next time! read more

Honest opinion, I'm not too big of a fan. I have pretty high expectations for Cajun style seafood and it didn't really meet my expectations. I personally thought the flavors weren't there. The shrimp was bland and has TOO much butter... it also had too much pepper. I wish it was a little spicier, less pepper and less butter. The fries weren't too special either. I don't make yelp reviews, I just order again if it's good. This is the worst food I've ever ordered on uber eats. I ordered 2lb of crawfish and when I got them. I notice a lack of sauce and thought it was weird. And my intuition was right, everything AND I MEAN EVERYTHING was dry and had no flavor. I like to suck on the head of the crawfish to taste the flavors of the boil but It's almost like it wasn't boiled at all but rather everything was thrown in a large pan trying to fry everything together. It would explain why my crawfish were very black on the outside, dry on the inside, and have no flavor. It was disgusting and you can taste the water of the crawfish because it was frozen. I understand that the crawfish were frozen but it is up to the restaurant to make it taste amazing. I'm going to save the restaurant some face and not post the pictures of me chucking the food in the trash because it hurts me more because I wasted my money on it. Online the C2 contains 1lb Snow Crab Legs Includes: 1lb Shrimp (head on) OR 3/4lb Shrimp (head off), 2 Corns, 2 Potatoes, 4 Sausages Slices. After paying for my food and picking it up however, I noticed that my bag only contained shrimp, clams, corn, potatoes, and sausages. When I brought it to the attention of the person checking me out (even showing him the menu on the website) he looked, did a double take, and then said it had since changed but if I wanted what was on the C2 on the website I could pay more. Yum! I've found my seafood boil spot on the East Bay! I came here with my mom on a Friday night and it was fairly empty. As the night went on, it got a bit more crowded but there was still no wait. Super surprising considering how yummy and fresh everything tasted! Bag O'Crab is opened by the same people behind Tasty Pot. You can definitely tell given the Asian staff, Chinese menu, and the Asian flavors you can get for your seafood. To eat, I got 1 lb of head on shrimp in the Mala Sichuan flavor. My mom got 1lb of snow crab in the Atomic spice. Additionally, we got an order of Garlic noodles to share. The seafood was so fresh and at a very decent price. I loved the Mala Sichuan taste. It was sooo yummy and had the right amount of kick. I can't really speak for the Atomic spice, but my mom commented that there could have been more garlic. The garlic noodles are a must order. I thought this place was alright. Not my favorite out of similar places that have popped up around the Bay Area. What I enjoyed were the choice of flavors you got and how you could combo it. What I didn't like as much was the seasoning and how they didn't have a bucket for you to dump your crab in like some of their competitors. Instead you dump it on the table which can get messier than what you expect. The service was pretty good and the place had plenty of room for customers. No wait or anything. So....I have passed by this place multiple times...so a friend and I decided to check this place out. I will say they are a great option for messy and delicious seafood. So I will say this a version of what I am used to, which is Boiling Crab. I will say that it satisfies the craving but the sauce is not exactly like boiling crab. SO GOOD! We were able to stroll right in at 7 pm on a Friday with a group of 5. We ordered the C3, with crab, shrimp, sausage, potato, and corn, doused in Atomic Sauce (a combination of several sauce, that we dubbed a "hot mess"). We also ordered a pound of mussels in the tingly chinese mala sauce, cajun fries and garlic noodles which were the carbs we need to temper the heat. The food came out very quickly, too, and the restaurant gifted us ice cream at the end. Be warned it will soak through the plastic gloves, so we changed gloves midway and brought wet wipes. Today my boyfriend and I ordered 1 pound of crawfish with atomic sauce to go. They didn't have and fresh, so we settled on frozen. If you don't like to get your hands dirty, then this is not the place for you. They do provide bibs and gloves (even in the to go orders) which helps. The seafood: my favorite part was opening the crawfish heads and finding little rubies of crawfish eggs. They tasted like dried chicken egg yolks. Whenever you order seafood at a place that charges you per pound you'll have to pay for the weight of the shells. In terms of the best bang for your buck, the shrimp would be better than crawfish. Shrimp is also easier to peel. The sauce: Quite oily, the medium spice was a bit too much for me but I have a low spice tolerance. I agree with other reviews that they don't give you very much sauce, and extra sauce is $2 more. I did see that they give out Haagen das ice cream similar to how you would get mints from restaurants at the end of a meal so that was neat.
