I recently graduated from UC Berkeley, and while I'm not sure if I will miss school that much LOL, I will definitely miss being able to come here after a long day of classes. It's a short walk from campus, so I've been here many times, and here's my recommendation: get the C2 combo. The C2 combo is perfect for two people. I've tried the C3 and C4, and I didn't feel like it was worth the extra price for the lobster/crab/crawfish, especially being on a student budget. Stick with the C2, get creative with the seasonings, and enjoy some delicious seafood. I found that the sauce is really flavorful, and I usually have to balance it out with a side of rice. In terms of appetizers, I've pretty much tried everything and my favorite would definitely be the Calamari Rings and Cajun Fries. I dip the appetizers in the sauce, and it's way too good. The people who work here are very passionate about their work. Our waiter let us know that he was also working as the restaurant's marketing manager! Really cool, I admire his work ethic and passion. They're also running a promotion where if you follow them on social media, then you get a complimentary Haagen Daz ice cream cup. With other bad food experiences during the pandemic, I never wrote a bad review since I'd hate to hurt small businesses during this time. However, after throwing up six times in less than an hour, I feel like this review is justified. We ordered atomic shrimp mild, lemon pepper wings, garlic noodles, and corn. The garlic noodles and corn were mediocre at best, but this review is mainly about the super oily shrimp and the extremely undercooked chicken. I'm pretty sure it's the chicken that got me sick, but I wouldn't be surprised if the shrimp added to it. My wife and I are fans of Boiling Crab and Rockin Crawfish, so we thought we might as well try this spot out to see how they rank against their competition. The pieces of shrimp themselves were bland, as if they were cooked without any seasoning and thrown into the bag of atomic sauce at the last second. As for the actual atomic sauce, it tasted like they threw the garlic and other ingredients in a cup of oil and called it a day. As for the chicken, I believe the photos speak for themselves. Unfortunately I didn't notice how undercooked the chicken was until two bites in since I was watching a movie and didn't look down after my first two bites. After that, I tore all of the pieces open to find out not one piece was cooked long enough. So good, the service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious and well cooked. My friend and I ordered a #3 combo with the Dungeness crab and added on a pound of clams for an additional $15. Totally worth it, there was a good amount of meat with the crab alone, but the shrimp and clams were so tasty soaked in the garlic butter too. My husband & I wanted to try this place for a while & finally went yesterday. Let me start off by saying there was a bunch of trash in front of the restaurant at opening, as soon as you walk in it didn't smell pleasant maybe open the door so the place can air out from the night before. The tables were not sanitized & to make things worse a HEALTH DEPARTMENT worker walks in through the door as we are sitting down. At that point we should've walked out but I was really excited to try this for the first time. This wasn't a standard inspection, they were there because of a compliant from a customer over the weekend. The customer ended up in the hospital because of the old contaminated food that was served & because of the lack of cleanliness of the restaurant. The restaurant was in complete silence so I was disappointed to over hear this and honestly in complete shock that was happening to us out of all places. We instantly got up and left. TLDR: probably going to be my go to spot for Cajun style seafood in Berkeley! I've always wanted to try bag o crab and it wasn't until now that I've been able to go! Boy have I been missing out. My friends and I came in at around 7 pm on a Wednesday and it wasn't full at all so we got seated promptly. Because we were ravenous we ordered quickly and luckily the food came out fast as well. I ordered combo c3 which comes with the choice of a pound of king crab legs or Dungeness crab AND a pound of head on shrimp. This combo also comes with potatoes, sausage and corn. Before tax and tip, the price of this combo is around $48 which I think is pretty worth it considering the amount of food you get. I got my seafood with atomic sauce and medium spice which was absolutely delicious. The sauce is rich and buttery and the medium spice gave a good amount of kick. I love getting a side of rice to eat with the leftover sauce - I highly recommend you do this. The shrimp was quite large and cooked perfectly! The king crab legs were also really large and had sweet succulent meat. I recommend also ordering the Cajun fries! They were so crispy and perfectly seasoned. Fries are another perfect side to dunk into that buttery spicy sauce. So delicious. Atomic doesn't mean spicy, it just means all the flavors mixed into one. Medium is the spice level. *If I'm really hungry I order rice, Cajun fries, and Cajun wings. My friends and I took a trip down Memory lane by going to Center Street, and seeing all the new restaurants that have popped up over the last couple of years. We had our eyes set on Bag O' Crab, for it fit the seafood on Friday bill. The amount of seating was okay, but not enough if you plan on coming with a group of 10+ people. You may have to reserve ahead of time if coming with a large group- it looks like they can seat groups of 2-4 comfortably. Now for the food- my friends and I ordered 2 lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of snow crab legs with the atomic sauce (all the sauces, basically) at a medium level (there's a kick of spice), an order of calamari (10 rings + fries), cajun fries(yes we wanted more), and beers. The shrimp bags were noticeably small compared to other cajun seafood spots- wondering if they weigh the seafood with the sauce?? Flavors were on point though, but it was a bit sad to see fewer shrimp than I was used to for the price point. You're given bibs and gloves for the mess- as well as moist towelettes in the end. Cajun fries were really good and they have spicy mayo(!!!) which was a nice alternative to ketchup. Calamari was okay- nothing special and for 10 rings I don't think I would get it again. Would I return? Maybe if I had a real hankering for cajun seafood and the patience to peel, but there are better comparable spots in the area (not in Berkeley). And a side of garlic noodles. Price wise I would say is pretty decent! First off, the garlic noodles were ! Right chew texture with the right amount of garlic flavor and they were not oily! It was so good to eat; and they give a good amount. The 1 lb shrimp was ok. I really appreciated that they cut the shrimp in a way where it's so easy to peel. The potatoes and sausage were cooked just right. But the sauce....it wasn't really hittin. I ordered the original Cajun sauce and wanted it dynamite spicy.....it wasn't even spicy. And the sauce was super thick and I just didn't particularly enjoy it. Maybe I should have done better research on what sauces are best? I like BOC as an good alternative to BC in Sacto (I've never been to any other). I like there size of shrimp they use. Larger than most places. Their version of the 3 sauces mixed together is tasty. I never get super hot bc I like tasting the flavor of the actual food. I like there garlic noodles but wish they (like everyone else) would pinch off a bit more, just a Lil bit more...but skimpy for already spending so much. You have to ask for everything. Just came back from Hawaii and spent a whole day moving and needed to fulfill my cravings for some sort of seafood and came across this place on Uber eats. We were starving so we definitely over ordered but we don't regret any of it. The shrimp plate satisfied our cravings from our Hawaii trip when we were trying to get on last taste. The bag of seafood included snow crab, corn, potatoes, shrimp and sausage which were soooo goood, we got the medium heat and it definitely felt spicier than medium but it was delicious. The garlic noodles were FIRE. not a lot of places can make a good garlic noodle dish. I was craving clam chowder and this was the closest place that had it. I'm shocked they were okay sending this out... the "soup" had congealed clumps of flour. This clam chowder wasn't even drinkable. You had to chew the flour clumps. If it at least tasted like clam chowder, I'd be okay chewing it and just pretending it's a clam chowder grits or oatmeal or something. Very unique! Never before have I had a clam chowder where it wasn't drinkable, but only chewable due to the flour clumps. It also didn't taste like clam, seafood, or even potato. Perfect for you if you love to chew with the taste of milky flour and celery! I also ordered the fried soft shell crab and fries basket. But given the state of this "soup", I don't trust their seafood or the quality of any of their food. I threw out everything else I ordered (sorry for your sacrifice soft shell crab!) after a few bites because my stomach started feeling nauseous after the "chowder". It's sad when I would have been better off getting a can of clam chowder from a grocery store. Bag O Crab... you gotta do better! I believe in you! Perfection! I'm shocked they don't have a line outside the door because this place is amazing. The atomic sauce is better than some seafood boil places. I recommend the Cajun wings too. I went to Bag O' Crab with a group of six. We ordered five 1 lb. bags of seafood: 2 lbs. of crayfish, 1 lb. of mussels, 1 lb. of clams, and 1 lb. of snow crab. At Bag O' Crab when you order a bag of seafood, you choose how it is spiced. You can't go wrong with any of their spice selections. But if you're a fan of spicy, then I recommend the Mala Spicy. The seafood was incredibly flavorful. The price of seafood at Bag O' Crabs is hard to beat. I've been to many seafood restaurants in Bay Area, but there's no where that you'll get this volume of seafood at this price. The service was very friendly and helpful. The location is a conveniently located in downtown Berkeley, it is right next to Berkeley BART. The atmosphere is fresh and modern. I am SO glad I found a place that sells puff paratha, which is similar or maybe the same as a spring onion pancake and idk what took me so long to find it! What I like about this place is that they give you bibs and gloves so you can be as clean as possible when eating. When you're finished they give you one lime wedge and a wet wipe. I didn't see a bathroom there. It's a pretty small place with maybe 8 or 9 tables. The calamari was alright. It wasn't as crispy as it could have been. It came on a large bed of fries which is nice! They give you tartar sauce and ketchup for it. As for the C3 combo w/ king crab, we chose mild atomic sauce. The crab legs were mostly shell and little meat so it might not be worth it for the price. Their sauce was more on the buttery side. The garlic part of the sauce is so dense, it sinks to the bottom, leaving a thick film of butter on top. Maybe they could put less butter in there. ____________________________________________ MY REASON FOR 2 STARS: It took an hour of waiting before we decided to get one of the waitresses' attention so we could ask about our food. She checked and the cook said 5 more minutes. So 5 minutes passed and we grabbed another waiter's attention and he checked with the cook again. He told us to wait 5 more minutes. Then the food came.. we ordered the C3 combo with King Crab and they didn't give us crab crackers right away... so we sat around waiting another 5 minutes for them... If we hadn't ordered calamari for appetizers, we would have been starving. When we came, it was a Saturday at 6pm. We beat the crowd too (by about half an hour) so we weren't sure why the people that came after us were able to get their meals in a more timely manner. Even the couple that legit came right after us got their "bag o crab" way ahead of us. My mom has weak stomach lining so it's important for her to eat on a consistent schedule. On top of that we were all really hungry. The servers didn't check up on us after a while so that's why they didn't know that we hadn't gotten our order taken care of. If they did, they would have notified the cook sooner. I honestly think they just forgot about us. It doesn't take long to steam shrimp and crab and they most likely have their sauces, potatoes, sausages, and corn already prepared beforehand for dinner. It was a terrible experience. One of the servers took notice and I'm glad she reported it to her manager and gave us an apology cake and a discount for our trouble. I'm really glad she did that because some establishments don't even care enough to try to do anything when issues like this arise. So instead of 1 star, I'm giving this experience 2 stars. read more

This restaurant seems very small from the outside, but the atmosphere is actually very comfortable inside. Someone greeted us at the front door and was very friendly. In general, the staff here was very nice. They gave us space, but were on top of making sure we were comfortable and gave lots of extra limes!
