I've been to their old location multiple times but finally made it to their new space and WOW! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with a large indoor bar. Walking distance to Canterbury Park. It's brilliant that they are connected to Bravis so you can enjoy a great beer while eating some delicious food. We came for a trivia night and had a great time. The one downside is they share a parking lot with a couple of other busy establishments, so it can take a while to find a parking spot. I will definitely be back! read more

I hadn't been to the new location so we checked it out while we were in Shakopee last weekend! It was really nice inside and they had a great beer selection. We got one of those brewery passports for Christmas and BHB was on it, so we headed over there on a Friday night! There is a shared parking lot outside the brewery, which can get crowded during peak times. The space itself is very nice! It is giving a blend between industrial and cabin vibes...with easy viewing of their brewing mechanisms but also wood accents and a fire place. Plenty of high tops, bar seats, or long picnic tables for groups. Our beertender's service was really great for our whole stay! They always have a super great selection of beers! I opted for their Schwarzbeer this time around which was perfectly smooth, smokey, and lagered. I haven't had a bad beer here! We went there on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. We were handed menus right away and ordered our first round. The server was friendly and fast at getting our beers. I then tried their lemon drop cocktail. For those that aren't beer drinkers, get one of their cocktails. I really liked it and was glad it wasn't pumps of flavored seltzer, but an actual cocktail. I have been here many times and never had this happen. So I gave them my debit card to start a tab, i just happened to check my bank account and they charged me $50 . I asked what this was for he says its a temporary charge when starting a tab you get it back 1-3 business days? Huh? I said I wanted them to take it off he says they cant? I said your business should post that you do that then I have the option to pay cash or as I go etc. he aid there was nothing he could do. Reason I was mad was because I never consented to it, also I have to wait 3 days to get it-back. Also lets just say I have like $100 to my name til payday and my intent is to sit and have a few beers and that happens and I may need that $50 . This doesnt make sense he said it's just like when you go get gas they pre-authorize you? Ok yes sometimes that happens but its like $1. I spent a good amount of time at Badger Hill Brewery's old location. It helped that it was super close and right down the street from where I got my C02 tanks refilled for my home kegerator. Everytime I visited I felt welcomed and had some tasty brews. When they opened up a new location co-located with one of my absolute favorite restaurants (Bravis), I knew a Happy Hour with some fellow beer nerds was in order. While there, I tried a couple brews to wish them good luck on the new spot! Oktoberfest: A Marzen style Oktoberfest brewed in traditional style. Full-bodied malt forward lager with a hint of malt sweetness on the finish. A beautiful amber color that just invites you to take another sip. We may be winding down on Oktoberfest season, but I will enjoy these brews as long as they are fresh! Uncharted Waters: A Thiolized Hazy IPA that they brewed with experimental thiolized yeast strains to make the aromas and flavors primarily in terms of tropical fruit just sing. The appearance looks like a milkshake IPA, but it drinks like a regular IPA which I appreciate. Single IPA style ABV, but packed with flavor and huge ripe fruit aromas. _______ read more

My husband and I visited this brewery this past weekend and had a very nice time. We both got the sampler and all of the beers were very good. My favorite and the one I ordered a regular size of is the Oatmeal Nitro. The bar tender was very nice and answered all our questions about their beer options. Another nice touch was the live music which they have multiple times a week. The building appears to be newer with a Mexican restaurant attached so you can order food as well. We needed some puppy hugs and a dog adoption was being hosted here so that is what brought us to Badger Hill Brewing for the first time. Loved it. I had a hazy IPA. Staff was great. Beer was cold and smooth. We were able to try a few different options before choosing our glass. So helpful. Inside was nice but we ended up sitting outside. They have a few tents set up in the parking lot with picnic tables for seating. It worked nicely to have some shade, enjoy the outdoors, and let some puppies. This is a really fun place with great staff. It is very clean and well maintained. One of the bartenders got my husband his beer flight while I looked over the menu. They had lots of kinds of IPA beer which my husband likes. I decided to try a latte which the bar tender made, very impressive. As I sipped my latte I enjoyed the band they had for Cinco de Mayo. It was very upbeat and there was lots of dancing. I talked to another bartender who said they have live music 6 days every week. On the day with no live music they have trivia night. There were quite a few people on the patio with their dogs. Food is prepared in the building so pets must stay outside. We had eaten before but I want to come back and try what the connected restaurant has to offer. read more

Today my boyfriend, dog and I ventured out to the New Badger Hill location (right near Canterbury Park). It just opened a few months ago, but we don't make it over to the west side often being located in St. Paul. First off, this space is HUGE. Tons of both indoor and outdoor seating. We absolutely loved the patio since we had our dog with us. Inside there is lots of space and even a seating area in front of a fireplace that's going to be perfect in the winter. You can also tell the owners really thought of every way to maximize both experience and space. They have a window to the restaurant next door AND serve coffee for those AM runs as well. This is the future state breweries should strive for IMO to really maximize the hours you can be open. We had an outstanding visit and plan to come back again soon! read more

Jezabelle and her team of bar tenders are as good as it gets. The quality of the beer is delicious; bright and hoppy - and the ambiance of the setting is very relaxed and communal. This was our first time here. We were in the area for another event. I thoroughly enjoyed the Foundation Stout and Newf Drool Brown Ale. We also tried a sample of the Long Dark but will save that one for next visit. These three beers were all very tasty. We also ate a Heggies Inferno pizza which, as usual, was very good. Inaugural visit to their new digs!! Wow, what a great tap room! So bright and spacious! I like the stone fireplace... very relaxing cabin-esque! Still relatively new beertender Isabelle guided me through the tap list. She was really friendly and knowledgable. I opted for the light 5% Mucho Gusto. I didn't have any today but I really like that they have chips & salsa as a snacking option. I didn't go out to either of them, but noticed the patios. I really love that they have the whole wall of floor to ceiling windows!! Can't get enough natural light! The parking lot is big, so parking should be easy. Isabelle said they opened @ 6a during the week and 8a on the weekends as they sell coffee. Beers can't be poured until 8a during the week. Isabelle was great and it was a great visit....then I paid w a Free Pint card...sat there for another 10 minutes. Neither Isabelle offered & I didn't think to ask so... I left, got 10 miles away on 169 before having to turn around and go back for my visa!!! Could have been worse... I could have made it the 40 miles home and had to go back.... We were in the area to do the Christmas in Color at Valleyfair, so we stopped in afterwards. We were not disappointed (No WI Badgers, no hills, no bs-just great beers). They had exceptionally great beers for my beer drinking hubs (he recommends: The Long Dark, Newf Drool Brown Ale, & Foundation Stout). I was the designated non-alcohol driver so I was overjoyed to actually enjoy a Lift Bridge Root Beer on tap! We had the Heggies Inferno Pizza (no food trucks on this day). Lots of parking in this industrial area. Great service from both of our male bartenders! Now we regret not getting a bottle of The Long Dark...maybe a trip back? Great brewery in Shakopee! If you like sweeter beers, definitely get the Lemonist or Blackberry Kettle Sour. They do have pizza and some snacks. However, the food options are limited, but you can bring your own food from the outside which is great. This brewery hosts paint and sip nights and trivia nights. Additionally, the staff is nice and patient (they'll let you taste beers before committing). The patio is lovely in the summer months. Lots of parking space and quite spacious indoors. Stop #6 on the adventure of visiting 50 new-to-me breweries in Minnesota was this slightly forgettable, small brewery that really just left me emotionless and thirsty. Located in the middle of a highly industrial area in Shakopee, right across from Valley Fair, Badger Hill is hiding in a tiny building amongst huge warehouses. Luckily there is a sign on the side of the road so it shouldn't be too hard to find. I instantly liked their patio, even though it was all snowed in; the pretty fairy lights usually win me over. However, there is not an ounce of green around and I can't imagine grey buildings and cement making for a nice view for a patio in the summertime..... Like I mentioned earlier the area inside is small but they make good use of the space. There is a decent amount of hi-tops, a community table, and even a comfy sofa lounging area that we snatched up right away. In the corner there is a piano with a message that lets you know only to play one song if you so please. On top of it stands an astronaut watching your every move. I enjoyed the quirky decor, slightly creepy paintings, and really liked the "Take One, Leave One" book shelf. Grab a board game from the oh so popular board game shelf and have some good beers....but here's where it gets tricky... Good beers I say...well, I wish I could say that the beers were good. My friends ordered a flight, as usual, just to get a taste for the variety of their brews. They were struggling with the choices. The tap list is super tiny but not so small that it should be hard to choose. Most beers just sounded way too basic. IPA this and Ale that...one stout that was Peanut Butter. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with simple basic crowd pleaser beers but when that's all the brewery has then I'm not that interested. There were a ton of advertisements for their new hard seltzers and I got excited because that was the "specialty something" I wanted to try. "We're out of that one", the beertender said with zero care. Ok, well, the menu, and the menu board, and the ton of advertisements about it say that you're supposed to have multiple flavors. "Which flavors are you out of?" ..... "All of them"... *sigh* The couple of sips I tried from my friends' flights were not worth it. Not even the PB stout measured against the other ones in the cities. And maybe if the two beertenders actually seemed to care and be helpful as far as helping me choose anything else, then maybe the whole experience could have gone a little better. Maybe if instead of talking among themselves they were offering samples and suggestions or even asked if we have ever visited before, I would be more excited about this visit. Just maybe. Maybe we'll visit again; possibly after a fun day at the Valley Fair....but probably not. Not even the comfy couches and fun decorations will save the day. There is just way many more breweries that are worth the drive and offer a much more memorable experience than this one. read more

I had a great experience at his brewery. I was in town visiting family and stopped in to try some local brews. They had 8 different beers on tap so my boyfriend and I each ordered a flight of 4 so we could try all the varieties. We sampled the Traitor IPA, Minnie Ale (Kolsch style), Hop Hill Pale Ale, High Road (Blonde), Foundation Stout, White IPA (Belgian Wit), Amber Alert and Black IPA. They were all very well done, but our favorite was the White IPA. The bartender was excellent and very informative. This location was kind of hidden away but they offer outdoor seating as well as a large indoor space as well. They also offer bingo during the week and free popsicles for little ones. read more

Badger Hill was a really pleasant surprise. If I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting very much. But it really was a lovely place to sit back and have a few very generously poured beers! This is one of those breweries that is tucked away in an industrial park -- probably due to the nature of the business and the need for cheap space. But don't let that deter you. Once inside, the brewery is well appointed, nice and inviting and really fun. There's a take one leave one free public library. There are board games that you can use while you are there. There are plenty of tables and a big TV. Plenty to do and look at to keep you entertained. The staff was friendly enough and very easy going. As for the beer, I will say that I was again pleasantly surprised. I've had the MSB in a can before and it was kind of meh. But on tap, totally different beer. Malty, flavorful and really delicious. The hands down winner for me, however, was the kolsch. OK, I love a good kolsch to begin with. But this one was really crisp and clean and a real easy-drinker. Really yummy. The flights are very cute, with four ample-size pours of four beers of your choosing. The had cool glassware, too, which I always enjoy. Reasonable prices, free Wi-Fi and a book of takeout menus up front. Really a pretty lovely place to hang out for a bit. read more

What a beautiful taproom! I had an excellent end to an afternoon of brewery hopping at Badger Hill. We were able to watch a Badger football game (appropriate) and enjoy some brews. The brewery offers 10 and 20 oz pours; definitely unique among any other breweries I've visited. One upside of heading out to the suburbs is that Badger Hill was kid friendly and that allowed my friend to come with her rambunctious toddler. The design isn't aimed at children, but no one batted at an eye at him running around our table or stuffing his face with the cheese curds his mom had brought in the diaper bag. On my trip I wasn't bowled over by any of the brews I tried, but I'm excited to return and keep making my way through their tap list. They always seem to be doing interesting collaborations so it's fun to see what's on tap at any given time. read more

Badger Hill Brewing has some pretty good beers if you're out in Shakopee. It's tucked away in an industrial park, so it can be a little tricky to find if you haven't been there before. I'm pretty sure this place has a little something for everyone to love, as they always have a variety of styles available. They have some solid fixed beers on their menu and some nice seasonals as well. The Badger Snack Peanut Butter Stout is a personal favorite, since I love dark beer and I love peanut butter. They had a nitro chocolate milk stout a while back that was ridiculously good (I'm fairly certain it was a seasonal). Right now Black is Beautiful is on tap (which is really tasty and supports a good cause), plus they have some great seasonals with their Dry Irish Stout and the Banana Stand Hefeweizen. If dark beers and hefes aren't your thing, they always have a few IPAs, a kettle sour, light ales, and a hard seltzer on tap as well. They don't have a lot of European styles but they do have good flavors and balance in their beers. They have a nice patio, some decent indoor seating, and even some pizzas and snacks they sell on site. Parking is decent but can get a little crowded on weekends. This place is definitely worth checking out if you're in Shakopee and looking to grab a brew. read more

A dude I work with at Target is also a part owner of Badger Hill Brewery. 2 buddies of I signed up for the 2 PM Saturday tour lead by Brent, it was awesome. About 5 minutes in you get a bunch of samples and the tour is more of how they got to where they are and where they want to go to, which I feel is more fun than most tours. I like that they will take another brewer's growler and exchange it with theirs. I got an IPA, which is chilling in the fridge as I type. Really cool guys and a fun tap room. read more

If you follow my reviews you know I have a passion for visiting all the Minnesota breweries. We've officially visited another one in the burbs. We were at Canterbury Park and knew this was close so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit. It's tucked away in an Industrial park so it's a little harder to find but be on the look out for the sign and you'll find it. The taproom and patio are both on the smaller side but they make up for it with the amount of beers they have on tap. I was impressed with the number of limited releases that were available. I absolutely fell in love with the fruit snacks golden ale. It reminded me exactly of my childhood after school indulgence. My husband really liked the peach ale. We've had the white IPA before and really liked it but we didn't see it in the taproom. I wish they would have had their staple in store beers on tap so I could get familiar with what I like before I head to the liquor store next time. If you're hungry they do a nice job of posting their food truck schedule in advance so you can plan ahead for having the munchies. If there isn't a food truck they have bags of popcorn you can purchase to hold you over until your next meal. read more

If you have to do boring ass errands you may well might them fun, right? Right! I had to make a trip to the Sam's Club in Shakopee and I did my research and learned that Badger Hill is about 10 minutes away from that warehouse that I buy my (several) bags of 50 lb. kitty litter. Crazy cat lady alert. But onto the brewery. They offer a parking lot that is on the smaller size but I happen to drive a smaller car so that works well for me. You semi truck drivers may have a problem. Stepping out of your car you are face to face to Valley Fair which is just across the highway. The taproom itself is quite small. The lighting is more dark than light which I myself am a huge fan of so they scored points with me the second I walked in the door. Bright light equals migraine and there ain't no beer that can cure that pain. Standing in line I feared there was not gong to be anything I'd care to order. I only drink sour and/or fruity beers. Anything else is a no go for me. The husband spied a handwritten sign on the counter that advertised their limited batch of a fruity/sour. Score! Upon ordering it we were informed they had sold out of it. Umm, maybe remove the sign? Anyhow. A customer at the bar heard this conversation and suggested that I try their Triple Abbey. Without really giving it any thought I ordered it and my oh my was it was tasty treat! It had a strong fruity aftertaste that left me wanting more but Sam's Club was closing soon so I had one and was done. Husband had some IPA that he enjoyed and we will be back to check out that patio once the temps heat up! Saw kids. Did not see any dogs. Not sure what the rules are on pooches. Outlets were readily available, table and chairs were comfortable and the wifi was free and working! I ordered a sampler. 4 beers for $8. Not bad! I LOVE BADGER HILL. We'd been meaning to come here forever, and I'm so glad we finally did! 1. Most of their beers are delicious. We had already had probably half of them at various times and places, so we knew they would be. We got two flights, to try everything on tap. You know how usually you get a flight and 1 is delicious, 2 are OK, and 1 is bad? 3 delicious, 1 OK was a more appropriate ratio here. They had the stout and the Traitor on nitro. Traitor (IPA) on nitro was a new experience for me as I've only had nitro stouts in the past. I liked it! It just felt really smooth. 2. The employees are amazing. It was Rich and ...we never caught the other guy's name on staff. Even though it was busy, we had full conversations with both of them throughout the evening. 3. TONS of parking available. 4. The atmosphere was great! Nice rustic vibe (but still clean-feeling, which I appreciate). Chalkboard walls in the restrooms. Lots of board and card games available! Don't forget to bring a book you're done with, because they've got a little library! 5. Someone gave us free cake! Which always adds a little extra sparkle to a place. More relevant information, however, the only food they sell is artisan popcorn, but you can bring in takeout or get delivery. They actually have a "menu" of delivery options. read more
