Make a reservation. Visiting friends in Minnesota and decided to visit some local breweries. We went about 5pm. We ordered a beer, pretty straightforward process. We looked for a table and sat at the bar, every table and booth was either occupied or had a reserved sign. Its a huge space, so it was very surprising to see so many reserved. We figured this place would be packed within the half hour. We sat for about 45min and ended up just having a beer and leaving. We left and it still wasn't packed. First time there, they seem to have a lot of things to offer, by looking at the posters on the walls of events. Their online calendar - well, that thing is AWFUL. It's very well lit up, lots of room in there. I am not sure about the service. The only interaction I had with anyone was when we went up to grab a beer. That seemed fine. I guess they have a decent amount of beers to choose from, but I am kinda picky, so not the best person to ask. I would ask they they update their game choice they have to play there. Most I'd never heard of, it is great to sit with the family/friends and play a game, I just would like a game we were more familiar with, or even some cards would be nice. Came across this brewery on a random drive-by one day and it definitely needs to be talked about more!! This place was hopping on a local bingo fundraiser night but the service was speedy and there were plenty of seating options (couches, booths, tables, and high tops). Some other highlights were the variety of drinks and food options: pizza and charcuterie inside and a food truck outside. (There's possibly more options, but I didn't look into it too much since we stopped by after we had already had dinner.) I LOVED the Triple Berry Sour drink and am eyeing one of their alcoholic slushies for the next visit! There was also a golf simulator, darts, and even a generous wall of board/card games available! Hackamore Brewing has a nice big space! HB is brewery visit #281 for me. A flight of five included: Can Crusher cream ale was a good one. Clean, refreshing, light and well done. A great cream ale. Ok, chocolate covered coffee bean cream ale was up next. I got more coffee on the nose but the flavor was definitely chocolate and coffee. I love this one! Let's Go Hazy had a nice fruity hop flavor. The Potbelly oatmeal stout immediately made me think of Pulp Fiction. I'm pretty sure SWPFTD does not want a pot belly as Fabienne did in the movie. Regardless, the oatmeal stout was pretty good. Saturday Morning Cartoons double fudge cereal stout! Now THAT is a mouthful. I can't say I loved this one but I didn't hate it either. There is a lot going on here. It's sweet and does taste like a chocolate cereal but I'm not sure it worked for me. YMMV of course. I got a little taste of the Grandmas Kitchen, a strawberry rhubarb pie sour. This had a lot of strawberry aroma and the flavor followed it nicely. I'm not sure I picked out the rhubarb specifically but it was really good. Light and a little sour but not overly so. Well, my wife and I took our second trip to Hackamore and the pop-up restaurant wasn't open when we got there at first. We came back three weeks later and ordered some Pamera take-out, about a mile away and brought it to the establishment. The place inside in spacious and cool. They don't take cash. What? Okay. They only had two beers on tap and in only ten ounce glasses, a cream ale and a sour. The beers were both great, but I wanted to try an IPA. A good problem to have that you were too busy to have more than two beers on tap, but get some "Guest" beers on tap while you have people making special trips to try your place. The newly opened @hackamorebrewing is the new place to be on the West side. There is a lot going on for them. They have @thesalsacollaborative cranking out phenomenal food, a merch wall of PGA quality swag, and an actual golf simulator. The space is huge and perfectly designed. And now let's get to the main attra, beer. They are starting out with a set of solid core beers ranging from a Lager to cream Ale to Hazy IPA to a Strawberry Rhubarb sour. Count me in. I was able to try only one beer while there, but it was wonderful. Can Crusher: A Cream Ale that checks all the boxes of a year round beer. Amazing space, huge inside, and well designed. They have a golf simulator, some really high quality merchandise, often have events/food trucks, and have a nice variety of beers. They covered many styles on my visit including a Pilsner, Dopplebock, cream ale, hazy ipa, fruited sour, pastry stout, a few different seltzers, and a dark ale. Something for everyone. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The beers were good quality, nice job with being one of the newer Twin Cities breweries. The staff and service have always been great when I've come in with family/friends. Definitely some of the best beer in the Southwest Metro, and they have Parlour Food Truck every Thursday - Sunday, with a rotating food truck on Wednesdays for Trivia. They have a giant space but seemed to be more families having events and lists of children running around and screaming while parents didn't pay attention. Has more of Chucky Cheese vibe than a brewery. The guys behind the bar were short and seemed annoyed when talking to them or asking questions. They were not very attentive and ended up having empty glasses for a very long time before they asked if we wanted another. Between the slow and inattentive service and the children running around certainly made me think twice. I understand everyone who is working there should be able to take a break and have their dinner. I don't think it's very professional that they bring in their dinner and eat it right in front of customers. It wasn't even what they sell at the food truck. Frankly, it was disgusting sitting there watching them eat and walk around behind the bar serving people. I didn't order food this time, but it looked like other's had decent meals. I really liked that they partnered with another local business to host an event (Studio SLVR) and that they offered a seltzer option. This is my new favorite spot! Interior design is on point. There is ample seating and one of the best merch spots of any brewery I've been to. I didn't have a chance to try out the golf simulator but definitely think I will get my inner Tiger on next time I'm there. They have board games and a couple video games. Now for the beer! I tried the Let's Go Hazy (NEIPA) and it was fantastic and the #14 Light Lager, which was equally good. The only thing they could do to improve is to add a change machine. Silly request, I know! I have been ANXIOUSLY awaiting yesterday's grand opening!!! To my delight it was more than everything I hoped for!!! Delicious beer, I knew brewer Nick wouldn't disappoint!! Glass separates you but when you head to the restroom, you pass by the brew house! Parking is easy and plenty!! I tried the entire tap list yesterday and was wonderfully surprised to read the oatmeal stout was a sessionable 5.8%!! The Grandma's Kitchen rhubarb sour had me slapping the bar-top after the first sip, in my excitement that it had the tart flavor I look for!! If lighter is more your jam you will be thoroughly overjoyed w the #14 Lager.... it is definitely a Patio Pounder!! Light enough that after you've finished a long, hot day in the yard you can relax with several of these!! I set the bar pretty high for Hackamore as I've been following their social media in anticipation of yesterday and they exceeded everything I hoped they would be!! When on my drive home I was already calculating out my next visit. The tap room is well laid out w the bar in the middle-ish and standard height tables against the windows, a nod to their family-friendly-place. They have great gathering spaces for larger groups. They are not dog friendly inside of the brewery, but have a patio in the back. I hope you don't even make it to the end of this review because you've dropped everything and secured a safe ride to Hackamore Brewing in Chanhassen. I've been to more than my share of breweries around the country so I have high standards, but this met and exceeded every one. The space is fantastic; open and airy with massive windows and tons of natural light, but also with a couple of little nooks so you can get cozy and have a conversation with friends. There are arcade games, board games, and even a golf simulator! Are you kidding?! It's kid-friendly too, which is awesome. The staff is wonderful, and were totally on top of things even though it's a brand new location. And the beer! I'm usually a dark beer lover but this place may have me mixing things up. We did smaller pours of all four of their flagship beers and there wasn't a miss in the bunch. The cream ale is better than Castle Danger's, and that's saying a lot. Their oatmeal stout tastes more like a porter to me, but that's not a bad thing at all, especially in the warmer months when you don't want to feel like you're drinking a meal in a glass. The sour is a little sweeter than I'd normally go for but it's a perfect contrast to the other options and will absolutely have many fans. My favorite, which shocked me, was the hazy IPA. I would have called it a milkshake IPA. I normally don't go for IPAs but this one won me over, big time. And my IPA-loving date loved it too, so that's extra impressive.
