An okay-ish coffee shop in the Sac area hence the 3 stars. Chai spiced matcha latte (seasonal) has a refreshing matcha taste but the chai syrup used is a bit too sweet for my liking. Disappointing banana bread cappuccino (seasonal) as I didn't notice any banana flavor to it. Brunette bar is soft but pretty dense.....it kinda reminds me of eating peanut butter lol it gets stuck to the roof of the mouth. Friendly cashier lady. Very cozy interior and wasn't busy at all on a Saturday morning/early afternoon (good coffee spot for getting stuff done in particular, I'd say). Ample lot parking. read more

Located off of Greenback in a nice area with ample parking spaces. The inside is very interesting to look at with its woody yet artsy interior. We were immediately greeted upon entering and barista was really patient and really sweet. After asking some questions I decided to try a macadamia nut milk latte with sugar free vanilla. Vanilla is the only sugar free option they offer and they do not have coconut milk. The coffee was made quickly and it had a great taste. The sugar free vanilla was nice and the macadamia nut milk was really creamy. The only I have to complain about is the 16oz coffee being $10!!!! I always thought even $7 was a lot but ten! I was absolutely astounded and honestly a little bummed because I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the customer service and the coffee. $10 is just a bit much to incorporate this lovely spot into my weekly routine. Stopped by here with a friend this morning, and, oh my gosh, this was the best coffee drink I've ever had in my life. According to the Autumn Specials menu, the Coven Latte is: "An Autumn Flat White for the more traditionalist. Espresso combined with orange extract, brown sugar, and cardamom. Lightly sweet and comfy vibes." To be quite honest, when I ordered this drink, I had no idea what a flat white was. After Googling it, I'm still a little lost, but, the texture and taste were to die for. Cardamom is one of my favorite spices, and I love citrus, but I don't think I'd ever tried cardamom and citrus together in a coffee drink before. It tasted amazing. The combination of flavors was extraordinary. The serving size was small, especially for $7, but, luckily, the depth of flavor made the experience worth it. The ambiance was super cute, and there were lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. We started off sitting in some yoga swings in the corner, and ended up at the picnic tables outside. This coffee was so amazing, I'm probably going to have to try to replicate it at home! And, of course, I'm sold on Badfish, and can't wait to try more of their drinks! read more

We were in town for a wedding and decided to stop by here for some coffee! Great little shop with a great ambiance. Lot of character and a chill place to grab some coffee or tea and hang. I tried their loaded coffee because it sounded interesting. Butter, coconut oil and heavy cream? Well turns out it wasn't for me. Too heavy and fatty tasting which is to be expected. Honestly the coffee taste was lost and felt like I was drinking a croissant. I have to blame this on my choice not the drink though. Temperature was perfect, hot but not enough to burn my mouth so I was able to drink right away. Service was great and pricing was on par. I LOVE Badfish! The staff are so friendly and even remembered my dog's name. The coffee is great and they have many food options (love the commuter breakfast sandwich). One of my favorite things is their day-old patties which they sell for $1. They have a lot of seating both indoor and outdoor and a really nice chill vibe. This area desperately needed a quality coffee shop and Badfish is filling the void quite well. I've come in a few times now, enjoying drinks like the Dandelion Vanilla Latte (off their seasonal Spring menu) and my standard oat milk lattes. They're not their own roaster, but do make their drinks with Sacramento favorite Chocolate Fish, which I find to be reliably good. All of my drinks have been fantastic, the service is always friendly, and they feature interesting artists' works on the walls. I also enjoy the outdoor setup they've constructed through covid with the sun shading and larger tables in front of the coffee shop. I hope this becomes a permanent addition because it's dog-friendly, adds to the relaxed vibe, and makes an otherwise dismal parking lot more appealing. On the food front they've always been out of vegan pastries and muffins each time I've stopped by, so I've only gotten to try the avocado toast on sourdough and it's delicious! Definitely a step above most avocado toasts I've had. I really enjoy grabbing a quality coffee before heading up into the mountains on weekends or running errands in Folsom and would frequent this coffee shop more if they offered a vegan version of their "Commuter" sandwich so I could grab breakfast for the road with a beverage. Because they don't I often end up going elsewhere for both out of convenience. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

Which is a cup of freshly brewed coffee with grass fed butter, coconut oil, cinnamon and heavy cream and they stir it or blend it up together. Came in with my beautiful girlfriend and her daughter for a quick breakfast. BadFish is located in a small strip mall off of Greenback Lane in Orangevale, CA. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu which was a big plus for me. I ordered a honey latte with macadamia milk and a scone and my girlfriend got jalapeño cheddar bagel with chai latte and her toddler got a kids hot chocolate with a chocolate/peanut butter fat bomb. Latte: ***** (totally awesomeness) Scone: ***** (hit the spot) Chai Latte: ***** (spicy in a good way) Bagel: ***** (my girlfriend is usually not a fan of cream cheese but she loved this one with the bagel) Hot chocolate: ***** (one of the staff members did a latte art on it, how cool is that?) Was on here on a Saturday at about 11am, and was quite busy. The inside of the location is fairly large, and had some tables still open for my friends and I to sit at, but the music was way too loud to have a conversation, so we opted to sit out in the front seating area. The person who took my order was friendly and did basic small talk with me, but he didn't ask if I wanted my drink/food to-go or not! He automatically set it to-go, which was kind of a bummer considering I was eating in. I ordered the Badfish Loaded Coffee, which contains grass fed butter, coconut oil, heavy cream, and cinnamon. I used to be keto, and I was feeling some creamy coffee goodness. Under 'Eats' on the menu, I ordered the Badfish Club. The Loaded coffee was extremely underwhelming, and I'm not sure if they really put any heavy cream in at all. The color was quite dark, and drip coffee can be a bit acidic. The club was good, they didn't skimp on the meat, which is always a plus, and the english muffin it came on was a bit bigger than regular store bought ones and was excellent. I drank about a third of the Loaded Coffee and once the cinnamon started being gritty, I went back in and ordered a medium iced Mocha, decided to play it safe this time. The mocha was fine, nothing about it really worth noting. I asked the barista that called out my drink for an ice water, and she was extremely nice about it, and even put it in a large cup for me. Pricing is fair, only item that seemed a bit pricey was the $12 tag for avocado toast, but I just didn't order it. I wanted to like this place, as I love patio dining, but I'm just not fond of the location or the drinks. read more

I've only ordered cappuccinos here and they're really good for being $5, which I suppose is on the cheap end nowadays. It's smooth, doesn't taste acidic or over/under-roasted. I don't buy coffee on a regular basis or else I'd go broke, but I appreciate Badfish being close by and on my way to work. Also, they put out bags of used ground coffee for us gardeners! read more

Great place to go for good,quality coffee. My husband had a capp and I had a vanilla latte. We also shared a Lorianne quiche and a sirachi cheese and fig panini . We both loved the quiche, so good, and our drinks. I found the panini a little too sweet but my husband liked it. We also got a few scones to go. They were good, a little dry but guessing it was baked early this morning. Sure they'll be tasty once I warm up in the micro. I love their fall drinks-Maple one is my fav! I usually never review any place I don't visit at least three times and never new places until they get their sea legs. Recently I've decided to only review a place I can give an honest 5 star rating. So, I just cannot resist today. I'm sipping in a smoothie called "Sweetheart". It vanilla protein powder , dates, maca, milk. It just might become my new addiction. I've ordered their avocado toast. Two slices arrive on my plate. Avocado, hemp seed, micro greens, lemon pepper olive oil and finishing salt. It's so hard to impress me with avocado toast. I am impressed. I love it actually. I can't wait to come back. Walked in and imthere were about a dozen folks eating and drinking in a super casual set up. Larger front room and smaller back room seating area. Some games, books are available. Pretty nice counter set up with menu board and some specials on a separate menu. Ordered Avo n multi grain toast. Nice texture and taste. Golden latte tasted good but not real hot. PB Banana and honey is a nice option. Quiches looked good. Need some type of buzzer or system to let you know your items are ready especially if you sit in back area. Or maybe even bring them out. Over the last year or so I've been in here three four times, there have been multiple customers inside who have not worn masks nor been asked to every time which I'm OK with that since I don't wear a mask where ever I go. Badfish has great coffee and bakery treats. I usually come in for a latte or white mochas... The friendly staff recently turned me on to a maple latte which is amazing but I still prefer my white mocha! This place is top notch and the only thing that would make it any better, is if their drinks are slightly bigger... for example, their large size iced coffee is a small over at Dutch Bros! Besides the size comparison their coffee is one of the best! Service and coffee gets hands down 5 stars.. Coffee size is a mediocre 2 stars. Overall 4 stars from me due to size. read more

As I am an avid fan of the independent coffee shops, I just happened to stumble across this place on a whim. And considering the town of Orangevale is only a 15-minute drive from my home, I just had to see what this place is all about. Which takes me to a place I see myself coming to again and again, "Badfish Coffee & Tea". This place is still the new kid in town (having only been opened since the summer of 2018). But it already has a very generous amount of outstanding Yelp reviews that gave me the impression that this might be Orangevale's best kept secret. Located in a very quiet parking lot right off of Greenback Lane (and in between Walnut Ave. and Main Ave.), this is really a warm welcome to this part of town. They also offer very generous hours of operation being opened weekdays from 6am-4pm and weekends from 7am-4pm. I came here with my lady on a beautiful Sunday morning around 11:30am. As far as the inside of the business, I absolutely love everything they have done with this place. The seating, artwork, decor, and ambiance were spot-on amazing and inviting. They even executed some very charming details in the restrooms as well! I love the open airy feel while the large windows can accommodate an abundance of natural light shining inside. Since it was not too busy, I ended up being the only customer in line ready to order. I go with their "White Chocolate Mocha" (for a VERY affordable $4.50) while she goes with their "Vanilla Latte" (for an even more impressive $3.50). Just the prices alone beat any big name as well as independent coffee shop out there in town! For food, I go with "Sourdough Toast" complete with fig jam while she tries their "Bagel & Cream Cheese" (also reasonably priced at just $3.00 for each of our snacks). Not only are the prices good here but the food and most importantly the coffees are amazing! Do keep in mind that they roast their beans exclusively from Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters which happens to be one of my favorite places to enjoy a cup of Joe in East Sacramento. My white mocha itself had a perfect texture while it was creamy and delicious. All in all, Badfish Coffee & Tea was a surprisingly impressive visit. I visited badfish after a hike around Folsom Lake! This little cafe is in a small shopping area with easy parking. I tried the latte which was nice and smooth- they use chocolate fish coffee :) I also tried the veggie sandwich with pesto, swiss cheese and veggies as well as the banana toast with peanut butter and honey. I went here this morning to set up shop for some studying and research, and it was perfect! The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The main seating area was clean and comfortable, with a perfect atmosphere for studying, work meetings, or just taking a break from the day. There are couches, chairs, and various types of tables available. There's also a back room that is first-come, first-served but can be rented for gatherings, meetings, etc. They offer seasonal special drinks as well as a regular menu with a variety of coffee, coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, and elegant bites/small plates. I had an iced Americano, which tasted perfect and was served in a nice glass. On my way out, I got a Chunky Monkey smoothie; it was one of the best smoothies I've ever had, and I would recommend it to anyone! Parking was readily available, and the cafe was busy but not overcrowded. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, making it an excellent spot to get work done. Ok I am rewriting the review from 1 star after trying the spinach artichoke quiche, the bacon quiche, and all three of the fat bombs, Mochi, tahini and one that used better than pumpkin pic. These People can prepare the hell out of food at least the two quiche and fat bombs. Now please get your coffee cups in order stat. Bottom line coffee lid lets coffee past the cup, messed up my seats and my shirt. Took apart wiped inspected etc. cup lip is solid, happens seem side away or close. It doesn't fit several more should be tested and the lot trashed. Cashiers were nice food looks amazing bought some but haven't tried it yet. I can't say that when I called the girl to tell here their kids don't fit was rude but the tone in no way conveyed that my message landed hence the 1 star review. I think the owner should know his cup supplier hosed him. Pics attached: Not sure if this helps diagnose the coffee cup failure to seal. To me it seems the bead was insufficient diameter in the lid groove but could be sloppy material selection allowing the soft spots (brown picks) to occur. Moved to the area about 4 months ago, have been wanting to try this place ever since we moved into the area. It tries very hard to give off a cool coffeehouse vibe only a little bit successfully. The hot chocolate was not hot, just a little warmer than room temperature. The rolls we ordered were served in a white paper bag, but they gave us silverware and a plate when we asked. The hot chocolate was awful and when I told the person behind the counter it was awful she smirked "ok." So I do not recommend going here, the service is surly. Nothing we ate or drank was worth the money. High hopes but so disappointed!! read more
