John (bartender) is awesome and very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers as well as letting us know we can get amazing wings delivered from Dew Drop Inn up the street. The vibe here is laid back with indoor shuffle ball, outdoor corn hole and several board games. Today, in addition to pizza, there was an over priced lobster roll truck. No live music today but a great vibe. Today's theme was Rockin Yacht with hats, pirate flags and beach balls. The brewery kids loved it. Had a great time here over the weekend. I really liked the games and assorted activities they had for folks to play with while at the brewery. A big connect four, a nice shuffle board table, giant jenga, card games, wooden puzzles, etc. I've been to several great breweries in the area and unfortunately they don't have any games. The beer variety was excellent. They have something for every beer lover and they have cocktails for your picky friends. The pizza from Roseland Apizza was great! Really good experience overall. Beer, wine, and pre-made Vodka drinks are all available. We had been planning to try this brewery as we have had the beer and it is reasonably close. We did not realize that we would also have an opportunity to try the Roseland Pizza shop that also shares the space which we have never had. Bad Sons Beer Company is a craft brewery that opened in Derby, Connecticut in July 2017. It was founded by brothers Bill & Mark DaSilva as well as their business partners John Walsh, Dan DiSorbo and Mike Student. The DaSilva Brothers previously had success in Connecticut's craft beer industry when they founded Southport Brewing Company in Fairfield in 1996. At the height of their success, the small brewpub chain had five locations throughout the state. Today there is only one location left (Milford) and they no longer brew their own beer. Eventually the brothers wanted to get back into brewing, so they purchased the circa 1904 Manger Die Casting Company building in Derby and gave it a major facelift. The name 'Bad Sons' was chosen as an acronym comprising all the towns of the Naugatuck River Valley (Beacon Falls, Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, Oxford, Naugatuck and Shelton). The name is also a reference to how the DaSilvas' father jokingly referred to them as the 'bad sons' after their older brother became a pastor. Mark, who serves as the head brewmaster, and his team brew a wide range of different beer styles. In 2020, the partners opened a Roseland Apizza satellite pizza kitchen on the premises. The legendary Derby pizzeria was founded in 1935 and is located just a few blocks away from the brewery. I recently stopped for lunch at Bad Sons along with my young son. I've been to Bad Sons several times in the past, but this was the first time since they opened the pizza kitchen. When we first arrived, I ordered a sampler flight which consisted of "Veruca's Demise" (Cranberry Gose with Orange), "Bad Billy" (Brown Ale), "Street Fight" (New England IPA), and "Boobious" (Hazy IPA). The latter was my favorite of the flight. After looking over the pizza menu, my son and I ordered "The 1935" (Tomato Sauce, Grated Parmesan, Extra Virgin Olive Oil) and "The BadSonOfA..." (Chicken, Bacon, Hot Cherry Peppers, Mozzarella). My son enjoyed watching the friendly pizzaioli making our pies. These pizzas were excellent; not as good as pizza from the original Roseland, but still VERY good. Excellent sauce and crispy crust!! I know my son liked his because he didn't make a peep for almost an hour. I washed my "apizza" down with a delicious full pour of "Winter Haze" (Hazy IPA with Spruce Tips). If you're looking for a great place in "The Valley" to get great craft beer and delicious New Haven-style pizza, then head to Bad Sons! read more

We gathered to celebrate my son's 26th birthday with great brews and Roseland pizza that Bad Son's offers. The bar was busy pouring drinks, but really kept up! Service was great! The pizza was amazing! And I need to mention that the pizza operation is a one-man show! On a busy, busy Friday, he kept up, no problem! We never waited more than 20 mins. We were also treated to a 2-piece band, Acoustic Mafia! What a treat to listen to live music! Great band, too! Lots of great covers spanning different genres - a new band to follow! They had sheppards pie pizza for a few days around St Patty's day of wow was it yummy! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. There's live music on Fridays. I went here on a Saturday afternoon for a reunion of sorts with some people I used to work with. They were having some type of beer festival in the parking lot and the whole place was super busy. We waited for a long time and never really got a table. We did find some seating at some point but it was along the back wall so between the arrangement and the noise level it was impossible to talk without having to yell. We ordered pizza, which took nearly an hour to come out. The pizza was very good. Overall bad timing I guess, it wasn't very good. Came here with friends for trivia a few weeks ago and had a blast! I love their Violet's Demise beer so much! I was shocked that they had Roseland pizza there, but it was the best surprise! What a genius idea to bring Roseland into a brewery! If you get a pizza, make sure to tell them to put garlic on it as it adds so much flavor! We won trivia and 6 of our teammates got a free 4-pack of any beer of their choice, so that was pretty awesome! Will definitely be back in the future for more beer, pizza, and trivia! read more

I love this place! It's one of my favorite breweries in the valley for the atmosphere, friendly staff, and decent selection of brews (though for non-IPA and non-beer drinkers, the selection is more limited and rotates less frequently). Service is quick, and even on busy nights, you can sit out by the big fire pit while waiting for a table/bar spot to open. Not to mention that the Roseland Pizza window directly in the brewery is an absolute game changer - it's super convenient, and WAY quicker than ordering from the restaurant with how busy they get. read more

This brewery was great! Bathrooms were clean, service was quick, and it was quite large to make anyone feel safe during Covid! They have a Roseland pizza extension for food, a Derby and CT favortie spot. The prices of the beer were very reasonable($6-8 for a 12-16oz) and have different varieties of sizes that range in prices. They do not accept Apple Pay so cash or a physical card is the only way to pay. My team won the trivia night they hosted and each of our teammates got to take home a 4pack!! True Score: 3 Stars Headed to Bad Sons after dropping a pie down from Roseland down the street. I have to say, first impressions was that this is a cool place. Weather was good and people were hanging outside in the beer garden area listening to music and drinking beers. You go inside and this is very cozy friendly setup. The patrons were also very friendly. Laid back vibe as a brewery should have. Now the issue, the beer?? I tried three flights, 12 different kinds. They had 13 on tap. Sadly, besides the Double Doobious, I cant even nicely say I liked any of the others. I follow the beers on Untapped and the rating are around 3.5 stars and lower which tells you something. Overall: A very cool spot to hang out on a Sunday out in the sun listening to some live music. If your not a big beer person you can probably look past the underwhelming beers. Thanks read more

Decided to check out this new local brewery and we weren't disappointed! Arrived late afternoon on a Saturday and it was fairly crowded. Employee was checking IDs at the door. Uncle Willies BBQ food truck was parked outside. Cute outside area with corn hole, a giant connect 4, giant Jenga, and a good sized fire pit with chairs. Inside the bar area was large with tables to sit and stand at. Great prices for 16oz beer ($5-$7). $7 for a flight of four (5oz) beers. They had two local guest taps with ciders from CT as well. Wine was also available. Growlers for beers to go were very reasonably priced in 32oz and 64oz options. You can order them at the beer window in the corner. I'm not a huge beer fan as I like lighter less hoppy beers, however I tried them all. My favorite was skip daze followed by Flight risk (session IPA). My father liked the Hooligan (pine flavored; india pale ale) and Lupefield (Double IPA). Service was awesome! Jenna the bartender was super patient and explained all the beers to us before we ordered our flights! Overall, awesome experience! Beer is good. Staff friendly Pizza is not worth trying. Burnt and sloppy. They did not have ricotta or spinach when we visited. Mushrooms are from a can and not fresh. Sausage lacks that fennel nuance which usually is the hit on a sausage pizza. Have to ask for pepper flakes as they are not readily available. Worth a stop if you are driving past. read more

Love this place! It's huge with a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a huge fire pit, corn hole, foozeball and some other cool games. They've had a food truck every time I've been here. Service at the bar is a little slow but the bar is huge so there's lots of people trying to order and paying at the same time. They should stick an extra bartender back there ok busy weekends. Dew drop is down the street which has awesome wings but is too small to dine in so totally get them and bring them to bad sons!! I'm sure they deliver too :) read more

Awesome space, utilized in a such a good way. I'm thoroughly impressed! The taps are built into a machinery, the logo is badass and the beers are good too. I personally loved the Violet's Demise blueberry gose and the Toasted Goat a block Amber ale. (Can you tell I'm not a huge IPA fan?) Great use of outdoor space that flows indoors on nice days by way of opening huge garage style doors. They had some tabletop games and shuffleboard, free water fountain to fill reusable bottles and appears dog friendly with a puppy water bowl. Creative details from the name itself to door handles and lighting. The longer I was there the more details I noticed and the more I was appreciative of the effort and thought behind starting a business. Perfect place also for a party ..people were setting up in a space behind the bar for a larger birthday party. Food truck was present and delicious! They sell cans as well as growlers and crowlers. If you are going to serve a group of 4 multiple rounds of sub par beer two weeks, when i bring a date and open with letting the bartender know we are eating down the street...That is the time to tell people you have to order some pizza..not after the first round and inform us that tonight you will be enforcing this. Bad Attitude had been tolerated in prior visits, the stout too sweet and taste horrible, they should go back to serving that nitro peanut butter. I advise for a good vibe go down the street, like we did. I recomend the rocket belgian "dew"n the street. read more

This place used to be our go to and favorite brewery to hang out at. I think management has changed (unconfirmed) but the vibe and ambiance has certainly changed from the first year they opened. Many times it's very loud indoors with live bands and outside usually has very few seats available. They do have pizza on site now which is always delicious in my opinion but the brewery still allows you to bring your own food with you. Overall it's not a huge draw any longer but I would still visit if I was in the area, I just wouldn't plan my weekend around going there as we used to do. read more

Great local brewery with some really nice beers. First the building itself and the interior have a very cool industrial vibe. We really enjoyed sitting inside at the bar having a few beers. The bartenders were all very friendly and professional. We experienced really quick service as well. Although it was an unusually beautiful and warm November Saturday we didn't spend much time in the outdoor area. They had plenty of tables, chairs and a nice fire blazing in a fire pit.
