10/10 this was probably some of the best airport food we ever had. Definitely give it a try during your next trip or layover in Calgary.

We stayed at the Marriott for an early morning flight and decided to eat dinner at the restaurant on site. We started with Sunday martinis, which were well-sized and well-made, followed by a bottle of wine. The wine list isn't extensive or especially high-end, but we easily found something we enjoyed. For food, we ordered the baked brie with local berries to start...absolutely incredible. My husband had the pasta special with egg noodles w/ fried steak, which he said was perfectly cooked and outstanding. I had the vegetarian chili, which was just as impressive: deeply flavorful with unique spices, not overly spicy, and the plant-based protein paired really well with the beans. I'd love to try recreating it at home. One thing I especially appreciated was the honesty from our bartender. We initially considered the charcuterie and cheese board without the charcuterie part, but he openly explained it was mostly charcuterie and suggested we try the brie instead. That level of transparency stood out and was refreshing. Overall, this meal completely exceeded expectations. I would absolutely go back, even though it requires two flights and a full travel day to return. I wish chefs in our area would be as creative and inventive.

There were plenty of people inside tonight especially with the World Cup game going on. All the staff were very attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed the poke salad and the ginger beef salad. Both were delicious. One minor change is that I would ask for the dressing on the side for the ginger beef salad. My son enjoyed the kids cheeseburger & we asked for tomato and lettuce to be added. It was the size of an adult cheeseburger! He thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter wanted the BBQ chicken flatbread from the adult menu but due to the marinate the staff didn't recommend it for her. Instead he kindly suggested a cheese flatbread with chicken added. She loved it! Overall it was a pleasant dinner from an unexpected restaurant with great prices as well! Very happy with our first restaurant meal in Calgary.

A VERY special and LOUD shout out to hostess Phoebe for making my birthday EXTRA happy this past…read moreSaturday. Kind, well-spoken, gentle, efficient, always a smile on her face and she went above and beyond. I had a 12:15 pm reservation. Unfortunately a group was taking much longer than expected. I waited over 30+ mins to be seated and so yes, I could've made a scene, but that wouldn't be me. Phoebe could've just let things be ... you know? Because "it is what it is". But she didn't. Once she seated me and my friend, she offered to take photos for me and of me. SO thoughtful! She also brought me a beautiful ice cream with a sparkling candle in it. SO sweet! She smiled at me every time she walked by almost as a way to make sure I was doing OK and feeling good. She was WAY more attentive than our female server who looked, sounded and acted like she couldn't leave work soon enough. Wasn't going to let her dampen my birthday though... Food tasted good. Presentation was beautiful. The male server who took over was SUPERB. Genuinely happy to "close out" our transaction with him. He was super attentive and willing to make everything go well. Thank you, Phoebe and male server for making my birthday memorable. XO

You only have about 5 or 6 spaces since it seems like the rest of the spaces have a "no parking" sign in front of each space... wtf... The place was nicely decorated and quaint. Loved the vibe. We walked in at 8am, opening time, and there were two parties sitting already. We got seated and looked at the menu. Our waitress was very friendly and mentioned that the Queens Breakfast, and the Montreal Smoked Brisket were the popular dishes. I decided on the Omelette Al Tartufo and my wife decided on the Montreal Smoked Brisket with Poached Egg. The Omelette Al Tartufo was good. Had a good earthy taste of the truffle. They had truffle paste so a hint of real truffle was there. There was a bit of melted cheese in there but there was a good balance. My wife had the Montreal Smoked meat with poached egg, which was also good. Pastrami-like protein with a poached egg, presented in a croissant. Very good, but very filling. Eat this, and you won't be having lunch! All in all, good food, and good service.

Imagine having gotten off your plane after being rerouted all day, nearly missing your connection,…read morehaving very little opportunity to eat anything, wait 30mins for the hotel shuttle...only to come to the open restaurant hotel a full 30mins before closing and be told...."our restaurant isn't seating anyone" The conversation with the host went something like this: Me: wait what? The website says you close at 11pm. Botanicus: our kitchen IS open so I'm happy to take your order. Me: what about that table, it's not in the restaurant Botanicus: that's not available, how about the bar. Me:there is no more room. Botanicus: how about over there? That's available. Me: the coffee table? I ended up sitting (Criss cross applesauce as my children would say) on the floor so that I could be more level with the coffee table and food...and so I didn't look and feel like I was an animal eating my meal. I wasn't asking for anything odd. They wouldn't even give me a table outside the restaurant in the breeze way area...Mind you; I didn't arrive 5mins before closing but at over 30 mins the entire restaurant floor should be open. Also, there isn't fine print anywhere on the website saying "no tables available but the kitchen is open" or "we reserve the right to close the restaurant anytime we want". Is there is a class action case here? Does offering a coffee table to have dinner seem like a service or customer oriented option? I ordered: Appetizers: Fried spiced cauliflower not bad, nice crunch, good heat Main: over all the dish was cold. Worse, the Halibut was especially dry. The asparagus had an undercooked crunch and had zero flavor. I suspect the person doing the microwaving of this food couldn't wait to get home!. Let me note here: the appetizer and the main arrived at the same time. So annoying ! Clearly an indicator of expediency at the expense of customer service. Dessert: baklava cheesecake was cold and hard; I could have used a knife to cut myself pieces, not at all an standard experience with real cheesecake., I suspect it was already in the freezer and "the cook" possessed zero microwave game...how else does one explain when one gets something like ice cream vs a smooth silky texture of actual cheesecake...the philo dough on top was an afterthought. I always say it's "all about the food " at a restaurant. I described bad food but it was edible and I didn't get sick so that's something. However, the lack of empathy and service by any definition is just the worst at Botanicus and for me unforgivable. If you find yourself in my situation, I recommend opting for room service. At least you'll have a table to eat your badly microwaved food. And I suspect that's what they want you to do!

There are few options here for breakfast. You can order off the menu where they will cook your breakfast to order. They also have a breakfast buffet for those that can't make up their mind after looking at the menu. Botanicus was the perfect place for my wife and I. My wife, who doesn't like to get up in the morning, ordered off the menu for a takeout breakfast in bed. I was able to visit the restaurant and partake in their buffet. Their breakfast buffet is better than a typical hotel buffet with everything elevated. In addition to scrambled eggs, they also have cooked to order eggs. It might be a Canadian thing, but, they had beef sausages. They even had smoothies. Service was very good. The wait staff understood my needs in getting takeout breakfast for my wife while I ate in the restaurant. They did a good job in clearing plates and in keeping my coffee cup filled. Botanicus was a great place for breakfast while staying at the Westin.

The place they told me to eat my order. A very low coffee table, so if I wasn't sitting on the floor, would stoop over the food like a dog
