We usually don't expect much from airport hotel restaurants, but this place far exceeded our expectations. It was genuinely one of the best hotel dining experiences I've had. We stayed at the Marriott for an early morning flight and decided to eat dinner at the restaurant on site. We started with Sunday martinis, which were well-sized and well-made, followed by a bottle of wine. The wine list isn't extensive or especially high-end, but we easily found something we enjoyed. For food, we ordered the baked brie with local berries to start...absolutely incredible. My husband had the pasta special with egg noodles w/ fried steak, which he said was perfectly cooked and outstanding. I had the vegetarian chili, which was just as impressive: deeply flavorful with unique spices, not overly spicy, and the plant-based protein paired really well with the beans. I'd love to try recreating it at home. One thing I especially appreciated was the honesty from our bartender. We initially considered the charcuterie and cheese board without the charcuterie part, but he openly explained it was mostly charcuterie and suggested we try the brie instead. That level of transparency stood out and was refreshing. Overall, this meal completely exceeded expectations. I would absolutely go back, even though it requires two flights and a full travel day to return. I wish chefs in our area would be as creative and inventive. read more

GOOD RESTAURANT INSIDE THE CALGARY AIRPORT During an overnight stay at the Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel, we dropped by the lobby restaurant, Yakima Social Kitchen & Bar. Not expecting much from airport food, we were pleasantly surprised by our meals here. Service on both visits was friendly and attentive. Even with a mostly empty restaurant, the kitchen was a bit slow but we would rather wait for a hot freshly prepared meal than get quickly served something that has been sitting under a heat lamp or microwaved. For dinner, we ordered (all prices CAD): Thai Vegetable Soup & Glass Noodles ($15) and Yakima Alberta Beef Burger ($27). The burger was a large thick burger served hot off the grill with a green salad side (upcharge $3). Skip the Asian-inspired soup that resembled a thin tomato soup with little or no curry paste or coconut milk. For breakfast, we shared the Yakima omelet platter ($23 plus an extra egg $4). The well-stuffed four-egg omelet was packed with mushroom, ham and cheese. An unexpected highlight of the breakfast platter was the delicious breakfast potatoes - large chunks of well-seasoned white, purple and sweet potatoes. Tip: if you have a long layover, drop by Yakima Social for a bite and then relax in the adjacent large comfortable hotel lobby lounge. A multi-story floor-to-ceiling glass wall separates the hotel lobby from a busy airport walkway ensuring a quiet retreat from the chaos of airport travel. read more

Totally surprised with this restaurant. It is inside the Marriott at the airport on the hotel lobby level. It is clean and well maintained. There were plenty of people inside tonight especially with the World Cup game going on. All the staff were very attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed the poke salad and the ginger beef salad. Both were delicious. One minor change is that I would ask for the dressing on the side for the ginger beef salad. My son enjoyed the kids cheeseburger & we asked for tomato and lettuce to be added. It was the size of an adult cheeseburger! He thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter wanted the BBQ chicken flatbread from the adult menu but due to the marinate the staff didn't recommend it for her. Instead he kindly suggested a cheese flatbread with chicken added. She loved it! Overall it was a pleasant dinner from an unexpected restaurant with great prices as well! I stayed at the in terminal Marriott hotel and I was excited that there seemed to be a good dining option inside. The ambiance of the place is really nice and well decorated. It has an upscale feel and service was outstanding. The food itself was a mixed bag. We had a Thai salad and a Korean BBQ Flatbread Pizza. It tasted decent but I felt that the execution of the dishes and the ingredients itself was lacking. The noodles were flimsy and a bit soggy on the salad and the flatbread for the pizza tasted like something you eat from a frozen pizza meal. Overall, the dishes still tasted good. The chicken for both dishes was the highlight and I did like the gochujang seasoning on the pizza. But for about $25 CAD+ per dish it was disappointing. You could get much better dishes with premium ingredients and execution in town. I understand it's airport food still but I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed with my experience here. read more

If you are at Calgary Airport while waiting for your flight don't miss out on this little Gem that's right next to the Marriot inside the Airport. They sat us right away and our waitress was the sweetest. We ordered some drinks and their food literally blew our minds outta space. We got their poke bowl that was perfection & also their smash burger with fries. We got additional lettuce and side of pickles. It was so good prolly the best burger I've had out here while in Canada . Their flavors are just unbeatable and authentic to the fusion of food they serve. Their bar area looks really cool & you can come grab a drink and chill and they have TV's to catch your local game they had in Tennis. Def come here to relax and have a good meal! Ordered their chicken lettuce wrap cause it seemed like the healthiest option on the menu. I still love the food here, but this time... the sauce was a little too abundant and lettuce too little. But overall still a good flavour combo with a nice kick to it. $23 for a lettuce wrap is a bit steep, but I guess I'll blame inflation. This is one of the cheaper items on the menu. I got sat at the bar, which I'm fine with. But it took awhile for the bartender to come over to take my food order after I told him I can't drink tonight since he was constantly on the move making cocktails for other people. Was never given water after I sat down (had to request for it twice since the water bottles were empty). And had to wait what felt like 10 minutes (?) to order my food. Overall, food's still good, but price has increased and service has gone down. That, or maybe next time I'll just tell the host, I don't want to sit at the bar, please. read more

First; we were tired; we were checked into the Marriott, and we wanted an early meal and bed to go with our red-eye flight in the morning, so location, location, location. We went there because it was convenient. The restaurant itself was attractive with comfortable seating. The design was elegantly modern without taking itself too seriously. We enjoyed our waiter. We only ordered some bourbon bbq wings and a mushroom flatbread to share so we did not exactly take a large sampling of the menu. What we had was okay for me and enjoyable for my husband Wings- The sauce- which hubs really liked -was super rich, thick, sweet, and heavy for me, but the wings themselves were lightly crispy and cooked well. They have multiple sauce options from which to choose. Also, I love mushrooms and caramelized onions and arugula, but I failed to notice the goat cheese on the description of the flatbread, so that was my mistake. The dish was a little funky for me. I nibbled two wings, one and a half slices of flatbread, and all of the carrots that came alongside the wings. My husband gobbled down all the rest and enjoyed it. It was quiet and comfortable and that was really what we were hoping for, so overall, I would have to give it 4 stars. (My favorite parts were the cold still water from the pretty blue bottle and the raw carrots which came alongside the wings.) read more

Wow! Team Alan & Glenda and I had a late lunch here and it was delicious. I had the best steak sandwich I have ever had IN MY LIFE and I'm 68 yrs old. You know how restaurant will normally give you a sub-par piece of steak for your steak sandwich? Not here! This was Modern Steak-quality AAA beef, seasoned perfectly, and the focaccia that it was served with was a dream. The house salad was inspired. Best way to leave a big happy smile on my face. Tristan gave us excellent service. Accommodated us with our wants and needs. Everything came out so amazing and very delicious. I eat very slow and Tristan quickly corrected everyone that I was simply enjoying my food. My husband enjoys Coke products so that unfortunately was a downside and when I wanted to order a chili margarita that was unavailable. We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich which was delicious. Had a good sauce but nothing too special. My husband ordered a burger and that was well done as well. He wasn't a fan of the cheese tho. We didn't get checked on after receiving our food as there seemed to be a lack in staff. There was live music which was nice. Great restaurant in every way. We had several meals here as we stayed at the Marriott at two different nights, the first and last night of our vacation. We couldn't wait to come back for our last dinner before we went home. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed great salads, sandwiches and scrumptious desserts. Carly, Kera, Amy and even Bruno the GM were all extremely warm and welcoming and provided us with great service at each meal we had. We seriously had Breakfast, Lunches and Dinners here. Cant beat the location either. It's just steps away from your gate at the airport. Enjoy your meal here. And don't forget to order the Warm Toffee Pudding or the Fried Cheesecake. Wow. Beyond the excellent and friendly service and the nicely appointed decor, the food here is alright - nothing terribly exciting or bad. We ordered their burger and veggie flatbread pizza for our last meal in Calgary before boarding our plane. While I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza (it's hard to go wrong with a basic cheese pizza topped with mushrooms and arugula) my husband wasn't so thrilled with his medium-cooked burger patty. The kitchen unfortunately has a policy of only preparing burgers medium, which ruins in his book the best of all patties. So definitely this is middle of the road, balancing the good and bad. I would still recommend this as an option if you're hanging around the airport as a nicer alternative than food court options. read more

I like that there is parking if you aren't catching a flight. We used the valet for the Marriott Hotel and were served promptly. The manager allowed us to sit wherever we would like in the restaurant. The menu is small but has a lot of options. We ordered two steak sandwiches that were cooked to perfection and a turkey sandwich. Service was great. The turkey sandwich was dry but the remaining orders were good and they were able to accommodate a gluten-free diet. I like this space it's modern and open kitchen concept. read more

Lots to choose from with things like Elk and smoking ice cream. I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection and sooo soft and tender! The potatoes were amazing and served in a different style (scalloped). And the veggies were good to, not over cooked and not under cooked. It is probably closer for people who live in Airdrie to get here than people who live in the deep south end of Calgary to get here ... unless I take Stoney Trail I guess. Anyways, they had a booth at "Taste of Calgary" this year so I was glad I got to try them there. At there booth they had three items: - Mango Panacotta (Dessert) Italian custard with mango Coulis which was gluten free - Chicken Wings Kung- pao style served with blue cheese ranch which was gluten free - Chicken Baozi Kimcchi, picled cucumber and spiced poison which was gluten free All the items they served were gluten free, however, none of the items were vegetarian or dairy free so they were only fairly accommodating to peoples food allergies. read more

I would recommend to anyone at the airport or close by. We had the steak with fries and chicken arugula pizza. It was great food and the service was excellent. So disappointed! I have eaten at this restaurant many times during my stays at the airport Marriott and have always loved the food at Yakima. It seems that they have a new menu and all my favourites (e.g., shrimp bisque, Niçoise salad) are gone. However, I was excited to try a new menu item - the lettuce wraps. What a disappointment. The filling for the wraps was pale chunks of chicken breast and equally pale peanuts swimming in what appeared to be, and tasted like, bottled Thai sweet chilli sauce, with a few green onions thrown in for colour. Accompanying the filling was a bottle of hot sauce whose distinctly Mexican flavour totally clashed with the sweet chilli sauce, and a half head of iceberg lettuce that was so tightly wound that only the first 3 leaves were suitable for wrapping. The only redeeming feature was the yogurt raita, which was delightful. Although the food was horribly disappointing, the service was excellent. Hence, two stars. I was also surprised to see bourbon based drinks featured (for the season?). Given the current political and economic climate, I would expect that there are better options. read more

This was my first time staying at the Calgary Airport Marriott. Some hotel restaurants/bars leave much to be desired. In this case, I found that Yakima met or exceeded my expectations in every way. The food and drinks were superb - but what made the experience notable to me was the friendliness and attentiveness of the​ staff. In particular, my server, Carly, was truly exceptional. I also found the location of the hotel (and its restaurant/bar) to be very convenient for catching an early morning flight. I don't know why this restaurant is so well reviewed but I didn't enjoy the food as much. My husband and I ordered three dishes: chicken wings, classic burger and tuna poke. The chicken wings are decent, the burger is mediocre, the tuna poke has no flavor, which is very disappointing. Our server was not very friendly and slow. I guess the atmosphere is good. It's in the lobby of the Marriott. But with the taste, price and service, just not worth it. Go to the steak house in Delta, you may get some real food there. read more

Talented chef at this Calgary airport restaurant imbedded in the Marriott. Worth walking over before heading out. I was at the Calgary Airport getting ready to fly back to NJ. I was dreading airplane food and fast food joints. We were there 3 hours early and we were looking to eat somewhere. The Calgary Airport has golf carts that drive people across the airport. I was a lil embrassed riding the golf cart. When could have walked. Anywhoo, and we passed the Marriot's Yakima Social resto and the driver mentioned it was a really good resto. The menu was impressive. I had braised pork belly in a sweet soy sauce and a really great frisee and radish salad with wasabi dressing. Phil hd the salad and turkey sandwich. I was afraid I would to eat at TIm Horton or Tony Roma. Phew!! Great selection of local beers and spirits, even if i didnt partake. They had Calgary gins like Park Gin and Parlour which by the way are NOT available in the Calgary Airport Duty Free store. read more

Had the best service and some amazing food here. Even better than some of the high end places in major cities. We were staying in the hotel prior to leaving on our flight and came down for dinner. Loved it! It's awesome that airport restaurants are stepping up there game. My husband and I stopped by for lunch, and what a great surprise! Estelle greeted us at the door and was very bubbly and welcoming. She was extremely attentive, friendly and efficient. I had the chicken noodle bowl, with plump chunks of chicken in a tasty broth, and Greg had a braised and pulled elk sandwich with fries. Both were mouth wateringly delicious. The fries were crispy and fluffy inside - the perfect fries! Then Estelle recommended the honey and date pudding, which came in a huge mason jar, topped with ice cream and a warm toffee sauce. The traditional eggs Benedict was delicious... the hollandaise sauce was not too thick. The self cured salmon was very healthy... The restaurant is in the new Marriott hotel which opened last year in the airport. The manager Doug welcomed us with superior service.
