There was a customer at the counter going off on the employees and I got to commend the young staff for keeping their cool. That being said, the young staff was friendly and trying their best, but they were drowning and the mood in the place was off. Items were forgotten. People were not getting their food in the order of when they ordered. Four parties ordered after me, with similar items and everyone got their orders before mine. I think I was forgotten and only after one of the staff noticed me waiting did they come and look at my receipt. Time from ordering to receiving my food was close to 40 minutes. The sandwich was voted one of the best dishes in the state by Texas Monthly and I can see why. It was a hefty sandwich with a large chicken breast seasoned to perfection. I always love when their is a little hangover of the chicken outside of the bun. The chicken was crispy but juicy inside. The heat was there but totally bearable with the cooling component of the delicious slaw on top. I usually pick pickles off sandwiches, but the pickles here were good and the acidity added a pleasant touch to the sandwich. The waffle fries were also excellent. They were the battered and seasoned kind which I love. The food most definitely saved the overall experience on my visit here. I will say it is one of the better hot chickens I have had in Houston. When I arrived to pick it up, the owner handed me the food and casually said he replaced my tallarines with lomo saltado -- without asking me first. He said it was "a better choice" and that they were out of tallarines. I told him clearly that I did not want lomo saltado, but he kept insisting, so I just took it to avoid arguing. When we got home, the real problem started -- both chickens were undercooked, tough, and hard to chew. It was so bad that I told my kids and family not to eat any of it, and I ended up throwing everything in the trash. I paid good money for this meal, and we didn't get to eat at all. Changing an order without consent and serving raw chicken is not acceptable. I won't be coming back.
