We ordered gluten free bread and the cook even came to our table to assure us that he cleaned the toaster before toasting our bread! My husbands frittata was greatly undercooked and runny. He asked the waitress if she could take it back and cook it through. She asked why he didn't say he wanted his eggs cooked well done and we replied that we didn't know we had to. (I've never ever been served runny scrambled eggs or an undercooked omelette until we ate at Bacon). Anyways, she wouldn't cook it through, so my husband didn't eat it. 2 stars because their toast and homemade jam was delicious. But definitely won't be back, poor customer service skills. read more

My friend and I were coming from SFO airport back to home and we wanted to eat breakfast in Novato. This placed seemed to be the only one open at the time we were coming back and as soon as we arrived it was super cute inside and outdoor eating. We sat outside since it was a lovely day and it was perfect. The menu looked soo good but we got the basic 2 eggs combo and it was sooo good! The bacon was delicious as well with the homemade strawberry jam! We finished our whole plate it was that good! We definitely will be coming back. Great food with great prices! read more

NOVATO CUSTOMERS and non Novato customers listen up! The service here is horrible, extremely rude , and they ignored when we wanted to order our food. They don't understand what your telling them and say yes to anything and don't do anything to do it. I understand that when you have lots of customers it can be overwhelming BUT IF YOU CANT HANDEL HAVING LOTS OF CUSTOMERS THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN INTO THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS. Tried this place on a whim after recently moving to the area and it was great. I got a waffle with fried chicken and eggs and it was on point . The waffle was light and fluffy and the fried chicken was crisp and juicy. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Had a great breakfast at Bacon! The table ordered: - Waffle with fried chicken and eggs. Chicken crispy and delicious, eggs cooked perfectly! - Crab frittata. Lots of crab. - One of the benedicts (can't remember which). Eggs cooked perfectly (i.e. not well done - talking to you, Mother's Day buffet at the Club Restaurant!). Lots of hollandaise sauce. Other items ordered but really can't remember them all, but everyone's plates were cleaned off. Great service, great food. Definitely coming back! I had a decent experience here. The first waiter was very lackluster in his greeting and service, but the one that served me after I received my food made up for it. I tried their specialty burger, a beef burger with garlic aioli and bacon, with plenty of fries. Add an ice tea to my order that was refilled plenty of times by the second waiter, and I was set. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very easygoing. I never felt like I had to hurry and eat. Instead, I enjoyed my meal at my window seat and watched people stroll up and down Grant Avenue. A lot of people like this place, Maybe because it's the only other diner of its kind in a city of 55,000 people. But the food is unimpressive, you're better spending your money elsewhere. I think people on yelp shouldn't judge just the food or the service or ordering one thing on the menu and turns out bad and giving the place a one star. that's not a good review. i'm giving bacon a 5 star for being brave enough to be in novato. only other two choices are saigon and pho viet in san rafael which saigon may have an edge, just comparing to each other not to SF or SJ places for sure. also 5 stars because the lovely thai lady worked the front of the house all by herself and hustled hard. yes we waited for 15 minutes before giving our order, but if you see the sweat on her face, hopefully you would be compassionate enough to give her a break and wait. indeed she was lovely, with shredded pork 86'd, she offered shrimp cake on the house. the menu doesn't have any vietnamese or chinese for the dish names. just rice noodle with flank, tendon, beef ball, tripe, etc. oh that's called combo, but where's the rare steak, it is inside but wasn't in the name of dish? ok so in order to get a pho dac biet bo vien, you need to say combo with sliced raw beef on the side please. the beef was on the side for extra $2 normal sometimes since they give a bit more or free most others. but this time yes $2 but there was the sliced beef inside as well, double beef. broth is the key. it was cloudy but good hints of star anise and cloves. could of used a bit of msg and a lot more beef. also wasn't hot enough, should be close to boiling, 185-195F. the city isn't much better to drive 30-40 minutes more especially on a cold marin night. less than 10 minutes from marinwood, sweet pho fix. san jose would have to be a weekend getaway at this point. read more

Do not come here. We ordered breakfast to-go for our family as we were staying nearby. They got our order wrong, we walked back to correct it and paid more money just to get what we originally ordered. Then they told us to just leave because we were being too difficult. All we wanted were 2 orders of the pancakes specials, but they kept trying to charge us for Ala carte pancakes. My husband left and as he was walking away the chef ran out of the restaurant and chased him down a block getting in his face yelling and cursing at him as he is holding our 1 year old. I recently saw a piece on TV about this restaurant and really thought it would be memorable, in a good way. I cannot say I will ever return or recommend Bacon. We were seated immediately and desired and were given a table outside for our pooch and the two of us. The area was clean and well-attended by staff. The restaurant was quite busy outside, my wife noted that the indoors seating was very packed. Although Marin has altered its mask mandate, we noticed only some folks were wearing masks, both inside and outside. Having had several acquaintances whose relatives have died of the virus which is still here gives a different perspective to the density of customers for safety versus the need to make money. At least outside we were 6' away, roughly. Nuff said on all that. The street noise was considerable. The heaters they use barely did their job. I loved how they attended to refilling my coffee cup, which kept me warm. Now to the food, it's quantity was ok. The bacon was ok. I had a side of bacon along with my Supreme Hash Browns and eggs. I'm going to deliberately "throw a softball" review here (including the rating) as I know these are extraordinary times and feel Bacon is a decent, local, average, ordinary neighborhood breakfast place in Marin, especially when compared to "Comforts", "Bayside", "Toast", "Fred's", "Lighthouse" and "Kitchen Sunnyside", in that order. Here, we waited over 45 minutes for our food and my wife waited 15 minutes for her latte after waiting about 8 minutes after seating to get a beverage order in place. For $60 with tip, I'll not be returning, but I will try the other places on Grant Avenue and go back to Comforts and the other awesome places noted above! read more

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning at about 8am. Place was empty except for one other couple. We were promptly seated and asked our beverage order. Coffees came fast. Regular for Russ, latte for me. Service staff came back to check on refills throughout our meal! I ordered the Tien's frittata while Russ got the eggs and millionaires bacon. Both came quick and hot with delicious sourdough toast. Millionaires bacon was great!!! Highly recommend. I would like to see more bacon-centric options to reflect name.
