Understandable, it was pretty busy but some drink to start would have been nice. My daughter had a kids option with fruit and a pancake, she was so happy! Fantastic weekend brunch/lunch place, the food is outstanding. I had the soft-shell crab eggs benedict, it was delicious, really showcasing the flavor of the crab. I also had the honey bee bacon side, two extra-thick slices of bacon with a honey drizzle; absolutely incredible. My bloody mary with bacon/olives/cornichon was tasty--and just $6. My younger daughter's burger was very good, the flavor was more reminiscent of steak than ground beef. My other daughter ate all of her blueberry pancakes, I didn't get a shot at those. I had some of my wife's fries, they were big wedges but crisply fried. She liked her bacon-cheddar-egg sandwich. Quite possibly the best breakfast we've ever had! Staff is super friendly and accommodating, menu is awesome! My kids all enjoyed different varieties of pancakes, French toast, and of course, bacon! This is an amazing restaurant for breakfast and lunch and also a cherished community partner. So about the first part : Bacon has the most wonderful breakfast items, and i have tried many. Their frittata are light and flavorful. So much better than flat omelets and the selections are inventive. My favorite is Tiens special which has sausage, red pepper, sun dried tomatoes and feta. They have deep fried french toast which tastes great but , of course, not as healthy. The banana nut pancakes are also a great choice. Their honey bee bacon is delicious- some places call it millionaires bacon, sweet and savory - you can have it on the side, in frittata, or eggs Benedict. For lunch its so tasty on a burger. They also make their own jams which are heavenly. You cant go wrong no matter what you order and the service is warm, friendly and impeccably attentive. So now the second part: During the pandemic when things first shuttered, the owner of this restaurant jumped in, providing packed meals and groceries to the elderly and the needy in our community. The must have a relative that makes ciabatta bread because it's all over the menu. For the eggs Benedict it works well! We had the classic and florentine Benedict's. We swapped fresh fruit on one for a $2 charge but the fruit bowl has a wide variety of fruits. Watermelon, kiwi, grapes, cantaloupe and honeydew. Nicely done. The ham in the classic is so-so. The potatoes are mixed with peppers, but were a bit salty and soft. I'm picky about my mocha and theirs is good. But the mug is 1/2 foam. The fact that a guy wearing nothing more than Jean overalls and no shirt sat behind me, I assume dress is casual. Serving size is good and prices reasonable so the overall value is good. What a lovely and delicious stop in old downtown Novato. Beautiful out door seating for us who travel with a dog. Well cooked, fresh, generous portions for the breakfast we enjoyed. We enjoyed a simple breakfast of bacon, eggs, potatoes & bacon. It was cooked exactly as we ordered, the bacon was excellent, the ciabatta toast fresh and the homemade jam wonderful. From our conversation with others we learned this is a well loved restaurant owned by people who served their community during Covid restrictions. We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning at about 8am. Place was empty except for one other couple. We were promptly seated and asked our beverage order. Coffees came fast. Regular for Russ, latte for me. Service staff came back to check on refills throughout our meal! I ordered the Tien's frittata while Russ got the eggs and millionaires bacon. Very fun breakfast place - super family friendly. I don't think it's necessary anything special that separates bacon from other breakfast places but they do offer a lot of delicious foods. My boyfriend and I both got some version of a Benedict and were happy with both our choices! The food portioned seemed small but it really filled us up. Service is speedy and friendly. We were never rushed during our meal. What I do love about this place is that they give you both a side salad and a side of potatoes (which are seasoned heavenly). We definitely hit looking for lunch at a hard hour. Everywhere seemed busy on a Sunday morning except Bacon. There's a lot of good about Bacon, a very decadent menu including a fried Twinkies topped with more whipped cream and drizzled with syrup. But the service was a little off and slow. It felt understaffed and we waited 40 mins for the food to come even though it was all pretty low maintenance foods like pancakes and eggs and sandwhiches. I don't think the food quality is the highest but I thought it was okay. And sometimes for breakfast you just want a normal pancake and eggs. I will say the bacon itself was yummy. Reminiscent of Freds in Sausalito since they slather it in something and it's big huge slices. Hope to try again and have a better service experience. read more

My first time dining here with friends and pups on the patio outside. Food was excellent. I had soft shell crab sandwich with fries. The best large wedge fries i ever had. So crispy and not greasy. My standard cafe review: Parking: located in a busy parking lot but generally I haven't found it difficult to park. Seating: Meh. This is a busy one. Bar seating, lots of 2 seater tables taken up by one person. A community table smack in the middle of a busy line. No real intimacy. Bacon is probably the best food item there is. If I was stuck on an island and had to live with only one food item (assuming I had fire), bacon would be right after Alaskan king crab legs as my first choice. When I first came across Bacon (the restaurant) I was looking for a tasty breakfast that featured bacon... and I got it. They had a special menu with a number of different bacon preparations - about 10 if I recall correctly. The one that was particularly striking was "Millionaire's Bacon" so I ordered it. It was sumptuous - sweet and spicy and super thick. Cooked excellently. Worth the higher price. Along with a nice selection of bacon, the restaurant offered a wide selection of breakfast dishes. I've tried several of them and they have never disappointed. A notable item is the Monte Cristo which is relatively hard to find in Marin county. I write about the range of bacon choices in the past tense because in a recent visit to Bacon I found that they have reduced their menu to only a couple of bacon choices - Honey Bee Bacon and Applewood Smoked Bacon. This is strange and disappointing - especially considering their business name. The Millionaire's Bacon was unique and worth a trip there by itself. Also over the past several months, Bacon has experimented with offering a dinner service focused on serving Pho. I don't believe this is still happening and, frankly, it didn't make sense to me as a customer. A positive change is that they have expanded their breakfast and lunch menu to include many items so you are very likely to find something you like. I still come here for breakfast for three key reasons: - The food is great. It's really tasty, well portioned and prepared. - The service is outstanding. Waiters are attentive, food is delivered with a smile and always promptly. - The prices are reasonable. It's the three key reasons that keeps my rating at 5 stars despite the confusing and disappointing lack of bacon options at Bacon. read more

We have been eating at Bacon for many years. Today three of us went there for lunch. I ordered an Arnold Palmer drink (ice tea/lemonade) along with my lunch. When the drink arrived, I tasted it and it really didn't taste very good at all (almost like instant tea). I did not drink it and when the waitress returned, I told her it had a funny taste and asked if I could replace it with some cranberry juice. She took the Arnold back and brought me the juice. When our bill arrived (over $60) I noticed the Arnold and the juice were both charged on the bill. I asked the waitress to remove the one drink. She left and came back to the table saying she could not since I had drank it, I reminded her I did not drink it. She then went to ask the owner and returned saying they would not take it off the bill ($3.50). I went in and spoke to the owner and he told another woman to remove it from my bill, she was not happy and said if I did not like it there to not come back!!! What?, over a tea drink they would loose us as a customer????? I was appalled. Then when the owner brought the new bill, I told him that I was very disappointed that they would do this over a drink. He then said that we could take our business elsewhere and that we were always complaining about something and sending things back when we ate there. I corrected him and said that was not true and we had never sent anything back or complained! I cannot believe how rude they were. Apparently they do not appreciate customers who are repeat and come into their restaurant on a steady basis. I guess all their "Hello's and nice to see you again" comments made in the past were all an act! We will never go there again.
