Went to Bacon Restaurant on Grant today ;o))) LOVED it! I tend to have the same thing quite often (BLT) because it's always beyond delicious but have also heard and read on some other sites of Bacon's great reviews on their eggs Benedict. I am really fussy about my Benedict hollandaise sauce and have to say that their's is some of the best I've ever had. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the sauce was perfect and just the right amount of it, the potatoes were delicious, not over seasoned and not greasy ... greens were great too and a nice touch. I also finally tried some of their jam. OMG ... I was tempted to order some extra toast just so I could smother it with their house made jam but I was too stuffed as I almost inhaled the eggs Benedict. Oh... I got the "classic" with Canadian bacon and it was so so delicious but I think now I have to try some of the others too. They have quite a selection. Would have to see their menu again but I saw several listed. Yum. I may need to go back in the next day or two LOLOL. Also... I am always really impressed with the friendliness of the staff there. They are always so nice and the place is clean. I recognize and my kids think I am ... picky. I can only say that Bacon is at the top of my list of places to go back to again and again. My Granddaughter loves their burgers and also had a BLT that I think also had turkey on it (if I remember right) that she raved on and on about. Their salads are really good too. I was so hopeful for this restaurant. The staff seemed friendly and they had so many gluten free options. Unfortunately each time I go, I wait and wait and wait and wait for food. The food is good when it arrives, good not great. But it takes way too long. Last week I went with my kids and it took 70 minutes from the time we ordered to get our food. OVER AN HOUR. They kept sitting people quickly during this time. It was confusing - why would you keep sitting people if the kitchen can't keep up with the demand? The 3 tables next to us also didn't get their food for over an hour. One table asked to leave and their server (also the host) told them they had to wait to pay for their drinks. Can you imagine? After over an hour waiting for food to charge customers for a black coffee and coke? The least they could do was comp the drinks. But no. The host didn't even apologize to them or to anyone else for the long wait for food. He didn't offer anyone bread while they wait or discounts or anything. It was astounding. This is the last time I am going to wait here for food. I will not be returning and I recommend you try somewhere else after the poor service. read more

Love this beautiful little breakfast/lunch place. The atmosphere is serene with very nice, comfortable seating. The tables are placed with enough space between them to allow for conversation that does not intrude upon others. I would call the decor elegant. Kitchen can be viewed from the seating area. We were greeted upon arrival. Service was attentive but not intrusive much like it would or should be in a higher end restaurant. Parking is easy. Adults and children were guests and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. Now on to the food. We had a classic breakfast with bacon, over easy eggs, hash browns, and substituted a slice of French toast for bread. Our other entree was bacon, eggs, and cheese on panini roll with French Fries. Jeez this place is fantastic. Great food and customer service. The jams are so so good and they sell it. Had to pick up a few jars bc otherwise I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it. What an amazing find!! We were hungry on our way from Sacramento to the coast, and this was the perfect stop in between to enjoy some hiking fuel! Very easy street parking, indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff were a great start, and it only got better! 5 of us were seated right away, and boy were we in for a treat! I had the waffle with two different kind of delicious house-made jams; the blueberry was very similar to eating blueberries right out of a garden. We stopped by this place because of the AWESOME name... we stayed because of the awesome food, we brought 15 of our brothers back because of the excellent overall experience! Finally, I get around to reviewing our favorite brunch place in Novato! Bacon is an american brunch joint with a flair that'll catch you by surprise with Tien's unique take on breakfast staples. I have loved coming to Bacon as long as it has been open, and have greatly enjoyed spirited debates over whether Marvin's or Bacon deserves the title as Novato's Best. The hospitality that Tien has for his customers and his ability to become fast friends with anyone are some of the many things that keep us coming back, and his passion for his food is obvious in the way he talks about his restaurant. He has stopped serving Pho, to the disappointment of many, because of insufficient space in his kitchen, and I'll be the first one in line when he opens his full-time Vietnamese restaurant in the future at a new location. The heart of the menu at Bacon is in the phenomenal Frittatas (very similar to a scramble) that have all of your favorites, plus the outstanding Honey Bee, El Paso, and Tien's Special (a unique Mediterranean taste with olives and goat cheese) that are my personal favorites. The benedicts run the gamut as well, again with the delicious Honey Bee bacon standing out. Tien's fun side shows in the crazy variety of sweets on display. When I saw they had a Green Tea waffle, I jumped at it, and I love it! While my better half wasn't too crazy about it, I think it's the perfect amount of different to make brunch more interesting, and there is the Lemon, Red Velvet, and Banana Walnut for everyone else, with the low price of a side order being a HUGE plus. The Deep Fried Twinkies deserve an order for anyone who has a grudge against their hearts, as they're better than overpriced fair twinkies, AND they're available year-round!! And my personal favorite item unique to Bacon is the Monte Cristo, a deep fried sweet ham-and-cheese sandwich served with a delicious jam for dipping, one of the most unique sweet dishes in Novato. The Lunch menu has a stellar Healthy section, with the Healthy Frittata being the perfect blend of filling, gluten-free, and low-calorie, for all of those who care about that (and it doesn't disqualify you from ordering the deep fried twinkies, anyways!!). The Prosciutto Panini is stellar; if you love pear with your cured meat, you're in for a treat. And their regular Lunch Specials menu deserves to be part of the full lunch spread, since the Bacon Ribeye sandwich and the Honey Bee BLT are some of the best lunch sandwiches that can be had in town. Get them next time you want a perfectly-done bacon and steak sandwich! The few things that Tien could improve would be the hash browns, which we usually pass up for the awesome crispy potato wedge fries. If you love hash browns more than life itself, then it'll take a change to help you there. And, while their Lunch specials are great, we're spoiled by the daily specials at our dear friend's brunch place, Sax's, and believe that daily specials would allow Tien to flex his creative muscles a bit more and come up with some really compelling new dishes. But as it stands, there's plenty of variety on the menu to sample from, and when your usual brunch dishes are done this well, there's not much to complain about. If you're looking to skip the wait at Marvin's, want more color than Toast or Mary's, or are just looking for a great staple brunch place, stop by Bacon. There is tons of parking around back if you can't get lucky with the street parking. There is always space for a large group if any of the smaller brunch places are packed, and kids and dogs are accommodated. Tien and his family will be happy to make your morning for you! read more

Check it out for the breakfast, come back for the Pho! A breath of fresh air in Novato's restaurant scene on Grant. Bacon offers a wide variety for breakfast and brunch, Bloody Mary's included. But I was totally blown away that they offer Pho at night. A delicious, easy, quick dinner to grab or grab and go. I hope they stick around longer than the last 2 places that have occupied this spot. Friendly service during every visit, including meals with our toddlers. Great for vegetarians. Love the Vegetarian Pho and the light breakfasts are delish. Aside from the delicious, fresh food served, Bacon's entire staff exudes a true concern that every one of their guests enjoys their experience. So many restaurants in the hurly- burley of delivering service, forget they are in the HOSPITALITY business. But I got the pear arugula salad ( only $12)sub the chicken for bacon and sub the dressing that went with for the cilantro lime that goes with the strawberry arugula salad ( couldn't decide which to get). Hubby got the steak eggs Benedict ( $16l) which comes with organic salad seems potatoes. He subbed more salad to forego the potatoes. His salad also had avocado! Pleasant breakfast to go to when passing through Novato. Quaint and clean place where the workers know all the customers. The ladies were some of the sweetest servers I've ever met. My husband ordered the home made corn beef hash. It was excellently made with lots of flavor without having to add too much salt. I had a decadently thick buttermilk pancake. Our corner restaurant has been found! This location had been a restaurant killer but Bacon has done it right. Any place that creates breakfast all day is great in my book. You can't beat a good breakfast. You especially can't beat a great bacon. The restaurant bacon serves a honey bacon that is so sweet and salty that it makes your mouth water. The restaurant serves your regular breakfast faire, eggs any way, waffles, butter, jam and bacon. Lines are out the door on the weekend. The patio is really attractive and cool and refreshing to dine. The restraunt is dog friendly, they even have water bowls for dogs. Recently, Bacon has starting serving Thurs., Fri., Sat., and I believe Sunday night Pho dinner. read more

The first time we came to this restaurant we were summoned by the name, you know..."bacon". Well this name might be a lot to live up to the service and the food certainly did not. However the restaurant had just opened and we wanted to give it another chance. We came back. For our second visit we stood at the hostess station for two minutes while the hostess just stood there looking down and reading something. She didn't look up nor did she greet us. It might not sound that long, but try counting for 120 seconds while looking at the top of someone's head. It is painfully long. Eventually we were seated. And while sitting and waiting to be visited by our waiter, I saw the hostess drop some fresh silverware on the floor and set this back in the service area. While we waited I continued to watch to see if someone was going to wash these before offering them to a customer. Sitting and watching... We waited for about 15 minutes and still did not have a waiter visit us. We did notice that someone else was seated and left the restaurant from lack of attention. At this point we left as well. I will never know if that dirty silverware was served as someone else. We will not return to this restaurant. I suggest avoiding the call from Bacon no matter how alluring. read more
