We ordered takeout from this restaurant and wasn't too impressed. We've been waiting to try this out from all the marketing we've seen but the food was not that tasty. We expected a lot more flavor for the birria and was surprised how bland it was. We ordered it in the potato and the only flavor that came through was the cold potato. There was a decent amount of meat, but just lacked the flavor. Same with the birria quesadilla, no flavor at all and there was no cheese! The saving point was us adding cheese at home and re-cooking it on the pan. Otherwise, it would just be very bland. The steak taco also didn't have much flavor. The only thing you can taste is a Smokey flavor but nothing else savory about it. We had one Al pastor item (taco) which was the best thing we ordered. The good: cheese quesadilla, both kinds of beans, pico, salsa, chicken. The bad: carne asada (couldn't chew any of it), al pastor (full of big nasty pork fat chunks). Really good burritos and tacos here. Usually go for the steak/beef but actually enjoyed the pork from here more. Seasoned nicely and very flavorful. Brand new location and this place looks amazing. It has a modern ambiance and the food was delicious. We had a little hiccup with the order but hey it is day 2 and everyone deserves some slack when they are just getting going. Tried this place for the first time. Ordered bueno bowl with vegetables. Received 90% boiled potatoes, 10% sour cream, wrapped in tin foil and stuffed in a styrofoam cup. No pico, salsa or anything else resembling a vegetable. Gross. I would have taken this inside to complain if I wasn't in a hurry. No utensils and needed to eat while driving. We visited Backyard for the first time last weekend and absolutely LOVED it!!! The food was very flavorful and delicious, and we loved the menu variety. Very cool, modern feel to the restaurant, and they have a patio with misters (a huge plus since my family and I are not yet comfortable eating inside a restaurant). We have been there three times this week, that's how much we love it! Although the food is great, the customer service is horrible. We have done takeout for 4 times in the past 2 months, and every time we are missing something. Finally we decided to call and complain which we don't ever do because my husband works in the restaurant industry so we know how it sometimes goes, however this place is 4 for 4 on messing things up. The manager was not very helpful she first answered the phone "how can I help you" and I replied with "did your associate not tell you what was going on?" And she then proceeded to tell us the exact reason why we were calling. That alone is bad service, she knew exactly why we were calling. She did offer delivery of what we were missing but the time it would have taken to get here our food would have been cold. Again I give the food 5/5 but the customer service and experience I give a 1/5. When we told the manager they lost a customer for how she handled the situation she said "ok" and hung up. She said she would return the money of the items missing but let's see since she was so nice hanging up the phone. Great food, work on your customer service or continue to lose customers. read more
