Al Pastor Burrito after me remembering to take a picture about a quarter way through. Tacos are chilling in the background.

When you just need to crush a burrito this place delivers. We had a day - hiking outside of Tucson on a trek beyond our skill set, paired with getting stuck on the highway behind an accident. You know that kind of day. You get back in town and most places are closed, but not backyard taco! Ordered an Al pastor burrito, my boyfriend got three tacos, followed by a second order of an Al pastor quesadilla. (I think he was jealous of my burrito ordering genius in this moment). Plus they have their salsa bar, because who doesn't love a salsa bar. The service was great as always. Thank you backyard taco for being there for us when we just needed a solid meal.

This place is one of the best in the East Valley. Starting with that Mesquite charcoal flavor that they grill with. You really can't go wrong with any meat that they serve, but the Carne Asada is my favorite. You have to try the crazy potato. It's just like a perfect baked potato filled with Carne Asada. Well if you choose that meat, and they add melted cheese onto it it's just perfect. They really make everything fresh in house. And their salsa is one of my favorites!

This place was not for us. Chips and salsa were great though. Service was very snappy and felt like we were a bother. No one enjoyed their food either. It's a one and done for us!

So we came here late last night! They were surprisingly busy which is always a good sign. The staff was super organized, we had never been to the guy who assisted us had some excellent recommendations. We went with the chicken tacos and the steak tacos with a side of chips and salsa. It was all so good, a bit messy but I'd totally do it again. The place was super clean, spotless which is not what I expect from a good taco shop but they exceeded out expectations! The salsa bar alone is worth coming back for, we'll be back!

Food is really good, crazy potatoes are awesome from here. Alberto was a huge help and super polite. Definitely makes me want to eat here again.

Backyard Taco in Chandler is a nice place to have a meal with an extensive menu. When recently visiting, I was able to meet one of the owners and appreciated learning more about the history of the restaurant. Backyard Taco is a casual dining themed Mexican restaurant that specializes in authentic backyard/party menu items. They sell tacos, gorditas, burritos, and other specialities such as stuffed potato burrito bowls. The al pastor had a nice flavor and they have a full salsa bar loaded with options. The prices were very reasonable and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely go back again.

My go to taco spot. The food is always amazing and the staff is friendly. I recommend the carne asada tacos!

Great tacos. There is enough meat in them so get more tortillas and double your value. I didn't care for the beans. Will go again.

Service was fine, but food was soggy, bland and overpriced. Sorry to say but will not be going back.

A little bit over rated! Small taco in a soggy corn tortilla. Okay, tried Backyard once and done.

Some of my favorite tacos are their Cabeza, Buche, and Asada. I also think their menudo on the weekend is fantastic too! Service is always fantastic, whenever we come in they always remember my boyfriend and say hi to him. Lol The restaurant is cute, alot of collected items throughout the place and somehow it just goes well.

I tried it years ago but didn't remember much about it...had to be an upgrade from Taco Bell on the same corner. Luckily the place was dead and was able to place my order right away. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered a taco plate (w/ rice and beans) with 3 different tacos (al pastor, pollo and cabeza). They have a Pepsi fountain so I skipped a drink and had water. I looked around at all the decorations and flair in the building...quite unique! My plate came out quick and looked pretty, especially with the radish garnish. However, nothing on the plate wowed me. The tacos, rice and beans were all quite bland. The meats just didn't have the flavors I was expecting. Nothing was bad...but just not a place I see myself coming back to.

I've never left a Mexican restaurant hungry before... until now…read more To be honest, I couldn't really tell from the photos online exactly what kind of place this was going to be. The ambiance was fine -- kind of a casual Mazatlán vibe according to my wife -- though the giant "No Firearms" sign on the front door was the first thing my daughter noticed when we pulled up. Not exactly the warmest welcome. We ordered two Birria Burrito bowls, a kids quesadilla combo, and two bean & cheese burritos (they didn't have a burrito option on the kids combo, so we had to order the regular burritos and then got upsold to make them chimichangas). We also added rice and beans as sides for the kids meal which was extra. No drinks, standard tip, and the total came to $73 for five of us. When the food arrived, it was shocking how small the portions were for the price: * The birria burrito bowls (~$14 each) came in a small aluminum foil to-go container that looked more like a personal pan pizza than a proper burrito bowl. The rice and beans were barely there at the bottom. Tasted good, but it was hardly a meal. * My daughter's kids quesadilla was tiny -- smaller than the free kids quesadillas we used to get at Café Rio. The only other things on her plate were two small styrofoam cups of rice and beans that we paid extra for. Her whole combo was over $10. * The bean and cheese burritos were a decent size and the only thing that felt like a fair portion, but even those were $10 each. The guacamole looked like processed/store-bought. Overall, it was easily the least satisfying Mexican meal I've had in a long time. The food wasn't bad tasting, but the tiny portions combined with the upselling and high prices left all of us still hungry and disappointed. For what we paid, we expected a lot more food on the plates. Won't be rushing back.

We got the 4 person party pack with carne Asada and al pastor tacos. It also came with some chips…read moreand sides. Food came out a little slow even when it was dead inside. I liked the carne Asada it was really good, the al pastor was alright, i wouldn't eat it again. I've had better carne asada tacos (like at taco boys) but it was still pretty good Honestly tho all that for $60 was a pretty good deal.

The elevated atmosphere struck the perfect balance of upscale and inviting. Party of four--two of us visiting from San Antonio (so yes... we take our Mexican food seriously), and two who were honestly a little hesitant walking in because the menu isn't your typical Tex-Mex lineup. But let me tell you... by the end of the night, everyone was completely sold. We kicked things off with the shrimp aguachile verde, chips, salsa, and fresh guacamole--bright, fresh, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt intentional and elevated. For entrées, we went all in: Sonora taco, green enchiladas, bacanora tacos, and green chili cream enchiladas. Each dish had its own personality and depth--this is not your average Mexican restaurant, and that's EXACTLY what makes it so good. Service absolutely matched the food. Jasmine was incredible--warm, attentive, and genuinely engaged in making sure we had a great experience. Then manager Kevin stopped by personally to check on us, which took things to another level of hospitality. And just when we thought it couldn't get better... dessert. Kevin brought out an off-menu, down-home key lime cheesecake recipe from his mom--paired with fried ice cream--and WOW!! Easily one of the best desserts we've had in a long time. If you're hesitant because it's not "what you're used to," lean into that. This place is authentic, elevated, and absolutely worth it. We'll 100% be back.
