Leaving this review feels pretty tragic. We decided to come try this place despite the bad reviews. Calling the service slow is an understatement. I cannot fathom how it is even possible for it to have taken as long as it did. We came on a Friday night, it was not notably busy. I'm talking maybe 2 or 3 were before us. They only had 1 girl that was the cashier, and server. She told us it would be about 20 minutes to get our food. It was more like 1 hour. We ordered the Backyard carne asada plate - flavor of asada and rice were good, beans were meh. Wish they gave guac with it and maybe onions and cilantro. Salsa was pretty good. fish taco - tasted good and was a good portion pastor taco - did not taste like pastor - pass on this short rib birria taco - good, not special - would pass on this rib eye taco - worth the hype, it's actually very good but can't see ourselves waiting an hour for them. There was lots of seating outside and a little bit of seating inside. It was pretty clean and had bright fun colors. I would advise that they only open 4-5 tables at a time and maybe just tell customers it's an hour instead of 20 minutes. I saw at least 2 people in the kitchen. Which is not a lot but I am guessing there is not much of a process yet. I imagine most of these items are assembled to order but it should not take that long to cook up some thin pieces of meat in my opinion. I've seen a lot of videos on Instagram showcasing this place with incredible food and high ratings, so I decided to stop in and give it a try. When you first walk in, it's a very small, tight space to eat--which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but something to be aware of. I ordered the quesabirria tacos, and they were amazing. I also tried the crispy shrimp taco--again, amazing. Both were packed with flavor and definitely lived up to the hype. I also ordered the ribeye taco since it seemed to be featured in almost every video I watched. I was a bit hesitant at $9 for a single taco, and unfortunately, I should have trusted that instinct. About half of the meat was fat that I couldn't eat, so I basically paid $9 for just a couple of bites of actual ribeye. That was really disappointing. On top of that, the wait time was excessive. There were a few pickup orders ahead of me, and I ended up waiting over 40 minutes for my food. I was told they only have one small grill, but this wasn't communicated when I ordered. I only found out after asking about the delay. No one acknowledged the long wait or offered anything for the inconvenience. While we were waiting, another customer came in multiple times asking about his online order and was clearly frustrated--he had been waiting even longer than we had. I didn't even bother bringing up the ribeye issue because customer service didn't seem to be much of a priority. Overall, the food is a bit of a mixed bag. The quesabirria and shrimp tacos were excellent, but the ribeye taco was a complete letdown, and the long wait with poor communication makes it hard to justify coming back. If I do return, I'll stick to the basics and be prepared for a long wait. read more

Finally made it to the new Chandler location! It's a great addition to the area with a huge menu and plenty of outdoor seating. Service was steady despite only one person running the front of house. The queso came out fast, followed by some seriously high-quality tacos. The Phoenix Cooks and Baja Fish are must-tries. I also tried the Gobernator, which was decent but had a few too many competing flavors for me. Keep in mind they do bottles/cans only (no fountain soda). Inside location is a little small, but plenty of outdoor seating. It was pretty hot so we ended up taking ours home. Service took a little longer than I would expect, but not unreasonable. You order everything at the counter and then they call your name. We ordered fish, carne asada, el pastor, and ribeye tacos. All of the tacos were good, but nothing exciting. However, the reason I will be back is the ribeye taco. Just get 1 or 2 of those and you're probably set. The meat is juicy, the flavor is fantastic, and the portion is generous. read more

The service is very good but it's order at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. Of which they only have 4 small tables inside but several outside. The menu is large. Too large. You really should look at the menu online before you come in. I ordered the queso birria taco and one Al pastor taco. The birria was very tender but needed more flavor. The Al pastor meat had zero flavor. Unlike other taco places they don't have a salsa or condiment bar. Had the backyard plate with steak grilled onions with the sides. Losing a star for the itty bitty salsa containers. Salsa and pico were spot on for bust out flavor. Service needs to step up the friendly factor. Just a few table inside so go when the weather it right to be sitting outside. I'd love to see a salsa bar in this place. read more

Oh, what a find! I heard about Gordo's Tacos and I also caught an Instagram clip of the rib-eye tacos. What even impressed me the most was the $7.00 price for what looked like a breakfast steak in a taco shell. I finally talked the wife into driving into Chandler to try Gordos Tacos newest spot on Alma School Rd. I was looking forward to trying their rib-eye tacos. When we arrived the restaurant was smaller than expected. They had a few tables inside, but more on their outside patio. We browsed the menu on the wall which had quite a few selections. But I wasn't deterred. There was a written note covering where the Rib-Eye taco was on the menu. Written on the note was ' New York Steak tacos. Ok, no problem! We ordered three New York Steak tacos and crossed our fingers they would be prepared the same way as their Rib-Eye tacos, charbroiled whole. It took a while for our order, but we weren't in a rush. When our order arrived, we weren't pleasantly surprised. Although the guacamole and salsa that is typically served on rib eye tacos was replaced with grilled onions and salsa; it wasn't a big deal. We took our first bite and BAM! Flavor bomb! The steak was seasoned well, charbroiled to perfection, and flavorful. They were surprisingly tender too! My wife said it was the best taco she ever had. I'm bringing my son and riding buddy here next. They will love this! For $7.00 each, it's a steal! Two tacos and I was more than satisfied! I didn't feel bogged down and sluggish like I normally would be if I ate a burrito or tacos with rice and beans for example. I will add guacamole or guacamole salsa next time though. I went with my wife and some family members. We rushed before 4pm on a Sunday to get there but they stayed opened well past Sunday hours. I got two carne asada tacos and the ribeye taco. Came here after seeing the IG posts about the ribeye taco but also wanted to try a few of the other items. We got the Ribeye Taco, Tequila Lime Shrimp Taco, Quesa Birria, and Shrimp Ceviche Tostada. Overall, everything was delicious but the Ribeye Taco stands out compared to the other items or even tacos from other places. It's cooked perfectly so still maintaining the tenderness but also perfectly seared for the crispy outer edges. The seasoning was well done balancing the savoriness of the meat, paired with a sauce that'll give you a nice kick, then cooled down with the creamy guac. While the other items were great as well, I wholeheartedly recommend the ribeye taco. Other notes, the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada was my second favorite, followed by the Shrimp Taco, and lastly the Quesa Birria. While the Birria wasn't bad by any means I just had higher expectations given the #1 taco note, otherwise still enjoyable. Also, I wasn't expecting to enjoy the veggies as much as I did in the Shrimp Tacos. The cabbage slaw and roaster red peppers honestly could've served as it's own veggie taco. All in all, I'll be back for more ribeye tacos and I also noticed they had a NY steak taco written on post-it. Hopefully it'll still be available next time I'm here. read more

I have made multiple trips to this location and found the food to be very good and the service what I would expect from a "made to order" restaurant. I have read some reviews from here with negative comments about service but when then again not everyone knows what "made to order" real means or what it involves. But, we are not here to judge others. I would recomment this to anyone wanting a flavorful Mexican meal for a fair price. It's not your usual run of the mill tasting Mexican Restaurant food. Maybe it's not like your grandmother once made but it's is a cut above most of the sit down places in the area service standard Mexican food. Give it a try and find out what you think. The beans were not fully mashed so they had clumps which to me wasn't good. The rice had some weird spice taste to it. Seating is minimal with only a few tables inside and outside. I understand they have only been open about month but they definitely have some pain points. The employees: They seem overwhelmed which I think plays into the unfriendliness of the place. Layout: Definitely not a place to go and stay awhile. If you sit inside, you will have the butts of the people ordering in your face. If you sit outside it's in the direct sun so unless it happens to be nice out it's not the best. Also there wasn't enough chairs for all of the tables to have the proper amount. The food: Not good, not bad. I got the Asada Nacho Libre. Others at my table got different tacos and the all around consensus was it was so so. I was driving by and saw this new taco spot open up so I swung in for a bite, and man I'm glad I did! The menu was pretty impressive but I gotta say the ribeye taco is what really caught my eye. It's literally a whole ribeye steak that is marinated and seasoned to perfection with a healthy dollop of yummy guacamole on two corn tortillas. Let me tell you this Taco is big two of them and I was full. The steak seasoned perfectly, my first bite I was amazed at how tender the meat was. I was expecting it to be chewy because it's literally an entire slice of a ribeye and it's not diced up. No, it melted in my mouth and I was hooked. The guacamole was very good, fresh and tasty and the perfect amount. I drizzled some of the salsa on it and I was in flavor heaven. I had ordered a pastor taco as well, another great taco! It was a very generous amount of pastor. It too was tender and moist and full of flavor. These two tacos so far will be my favorites for sure. I also tried the 1950 gringo taco, it was ground beef on a hard crunchy corn shell like Taco Bell style. The meat was very tasty but a little saltier than I like. I think if they eased up on the seasoning this taco would be great as well. Finally the last taco I tried was the la diabla shrimp taco, it looked very intimidating and spicy, the shrimp we're sitting in a spicy tomato sauce on a corn tortilla with cabbage and a chipotle mayo sauce. To my surprise it wasn't as hot as it looked and was very tasty. I enjoyed this shrimp taco very much, my only complaint was there wasn't a whole lot of shrimp, I think I counted 4 medium size shrimp and it's a big taco. I loved it just needed like at least two more shrimp to make it perfect. The menu is big with plenty of variety from tacos to nachos, enchiladas and even pozole which I'm anxious to come back and try. They will be serving alcohol but we're not at the time of my visit, I guess they're waiting on the license to go through. The inside dining area is kinda small I counted 5 or 6 tables that could seat 4 each. But they have a nice little patio out front and plan on adding tv's for sports and outside dining. I'm glad I got to try this place before it blows up and with tacos as flavorful as this it's definitely going to be a popular spot. read more

First time at this establishment - Remodeling Contractor here, enjoy my contractor lunches Monday thru Friday - I decided to visit this location today for lunch- upon entering I had sense of dis array , no body at front counter so I decided to review the menu, no came out or any sign of movement - thought interesting this is , continued to review menu and check the place , still after 4-5 mins no sign of life - looked around review menu again , no sign of lunch specials, no sign of life - so a Note to the owner , you may want to correct this - ended up walking out and moved on - I wish all small business success, however I would help to have someone greet you upon entry or at least show a sign of life it is a service related establishment read more

Food: 10/10 finally a great taco place that taste authentic the ribeye taco my goodness it was so good had flavor and the chile de árbol spicy as it should a lot of these taco spots don't do spicy anymore but I'm so glad they kept it authentic! We also had some of the tacos with shrimp super good as well!!! Been a loyal customer since the doors opened here on a weekly basis. I have to admit, my food taste different every time I get the same grilled chicken burrito. Today it did have the charred jalapeños and the Chipotle sauce where other times its a hit or miss. Today was the last time i will spend money here. Lunch today has been by far the worst experience. Few bites in (grilled chicken burrito & 2 Ribey tacos) we were spitting the over salted meat out. The grilled chicken and the 2 ribey tacos were not edible do to the salt. We're frustrated and disappointed, because when you did it right, your food was delicious. We couldn't get enough. So, not only was the Ribey taco over salted, not edible, it went from $7 to $9 and shrunk in size. Today we spent over $30 and now looking for something else for lunch. Came in on Taco Tuesday for the taco special and found out you have to ask for the Taco Tuesday special to get $3 & $4 tacos. This seemed odd to promote a special on Instagram, but then to have the cashier said they can't promote it in the store and you have to ask for it because they are different size tacos. They are street tacos, I am not sure how much smaller they can get! Manager apologized saying he didn't know Taco Tuesday was live and was sorry for the confusion, but did not offer to honor the prices.
