If I was hosting a party, I would come back and order a party tray of lumpia. Unfortunately, the name sake fried chicken did not impress us.

Therefore, we drove to 8430 Elk Grove Boulevard and Florin: Surprisingly, PhilHouse is located inside Island Pacific Market. We ordered our meal, paid, i.e., no waiting in a very l-o-n-g line which made Joy quite elated~lol, and we proceeded wolfing down our meals--we were FAMISHED. Gleefully, we ordered Beef Sinigang, Chicken Pancit, Squid Adobo (no pork inhalation for moi), rice, Touron, and Lumpia: For two people's inhalation session costed $33.31 verses at the Mabuhay's Baboy Boy Food per plate would have costed $25.00 per small plate! Therefore, performing an inhalation session at PhilHouse was cost effective, it was much cooler eating at PhilHouse, and PhilHouse's inhalation table's ambiance was pleasant. Surely, we shall return; however, I DO wish PhilHouse/Island Pacific would expand their locations to PLACERVILLE CA, Folsom CA, and Ranch Cordova CA because driving from Placerville is quite a long haul for an inhalation session! BTW: After completing our PhilHouse's inhalation session, we began our hunt for . . . Drumroll~PILI NUTS! Oh, yeah!

It was an asado (pulled pork) siopao and it was moist, well seasoned, saucy, and tender after resteaming in the microwave. I ordered a box of 16 spanish roll, which came out fast and fresh. Imagine a combo between starbread but had the fluffiness of a pan de sal. So grateful to have a local Filipino mom and pop.

They're also fairly competitive in price, but keep an eye out on the circulars and advertisements to take advantage of the best opportunities to stretch that dollar. I wouldn't stress about that aspect of going to this business. Arguably the best Filipino food that's available throughout the day in the area, although the bar is very low. If we're comparing the food to Grill City in Seafood City, I prefer the food here (with the exception of the BBQ skewers). The halo halo was brought out first and it was so good and refreshing on a hot summer afternoon. Shortly after the entrees were given to us. Everything smelled so good. When we got home, we couldn't wait to eat the food and just dive right in. The food was still piping hot and delicious, not too fattening and not too salty. We enjoyed our meal very much and will drop by next time we're in the area. Nice staff, private parking lot, clean restaurant, clean restrooms.

My favorite thing about this place so far is the ability to upgrade or customize. For example you can add veggies instead of or in addition to rice, and you can swap vermicelli for garlic noodles or garlic rice in your bun dish. The staff was very helpful if a bit busy. We would come back to try other dishes if we're in the area.

So over the weekend when I had to make a trip to Elk Grove I snatched up the opportunity to stop and bring some food home. I downloaded the app, created an account because I definitely want points and rewards. I also want to order ahead. My very first order was 2 piece chicken meal with spaghetti and mashed potatoes and gravy. It also came with the peach mango pie and the pineapple drink. When getting there my husband goes to pick up the order while I waited in the car with our dog. They were very busy inside and in the drive through so I expected a bit of a wait time. It started to get excessively long so I called him to ask what's going on. He goes to the counter to ask the status of the order. The guy asked for the order info so he gave it to him. He looks around and tells my husband they have no info on my order. That doesn't make sense. So he goes through a bunch of other customers receipts and he found mine. He laughed and told my husband oh I guess we put it to the side and forgot to make the order. Say what? Are you kidding me? They made it then. Strike one on lousy customer service. But maybe the food will make up for it? Yes and no. So my husband brings the food out and the plan was to bring it home to eat. I decided nope I need to try this now because I'm hungry and excited to eat this. I open the spaghetti. Looked good. Tasted better than it looks. I was in love and hooked immediately. My husband took a bite and didn't like it. His loss. More for me. It was a small side so I ended up just eating the whole thing. In the meantime I decided I also wanted to try the burger steak since I don't come often. He goes n to order it and I eat the mashed potatoes and gravy. Best fast food mashed potatoes and gravy I've ever had. Finished that off too lol. He brings the burger steak out. I was going to take the rest home but I wanted 1 bite of the burger steak. The container they used had a hole in the back and they 500 gallons of mushroom gravy ended up spilling over the side down on my bare legs (wearing shorts) and it was hot. At least I'll give them that. Hot, very hot and it's burned my legs. I still have my legs attached so it could be worse. Whatever. I try it. Not impressed. I took the rest home and ate it later because I wasn't going to waste food. But I absolutely wouldn't get that again. It was burnt, bland, dry. Even the Pacific Ocean amount of gravy didn't help the dryness. I ate the chicken at home. Very good chicken. Very juicy and tender. Skin was still crispy even after the drive back to Roseville. I also enjoyed the pie and the pineapple drink I just wish the drink could come in a bigger size. They are opening one in Roseville. I'm not sure when but it seems soon. And I can't wait. I'm definitely going to be a frequent flyer for that spaghetti. The bee outside was cute and I saw a few people taking selfies with it. My husband said the inside seemed clean. He wasn't inspecting it or anything. Just a normal interior of a fast food restaurant. I enjoyed the food, the majority of it. The customer service however was lacking.
