    "Crispy" palabok
    Bea R.

I was really excited to try this new Filipino spot, but unfortunately, we left a little disappointed. We ordered several dishes: * Lechon silog -- 8/10: Pretty good! * Sisig silog -- 9/10: Definitely our favorite. * Dinuguan -- 1/10: Unfortunately, this was very fatty and not enjoyable for us. * Crispy palabok -- 1/10: This was the biggest disappointment. The noodles tasted like they came straight out of the bag and were extremely dry. We asked for extra sauce hoping it would soften them up, but it didn't really help. On the positive side, the customer service was great -- 8.5/10. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Since this is a newer restaurant, I think there's still room for improvement, especially with the food consistency and preparation. I'd be willing to give them another try in the future because the sisig and lechon were actually pretty good.

Bilao is a new Filipino restaurant off Florin Road in the Pocket/Greenhaven area. Been seeing a lot of buzz about Bilao so thought I'd check it out. Located in a shopping plaza with lots of parking. It's a small spot but it does have several tables for dine-in with a nice decor inside. Ordered the following: ***Pork chop silog $14, 3/5 ***Halo-halo $12, 4/5 The 2 thin slices pork chop silog was just ok. It could be thicker slices and could have more flavor though. The halo-halo was good too but for the price, it could've been a much bigger serving. Staff were courteous and good customer service. Will have to try other dishes in their menu.

Came here a few minutes before opening on the very first soft opening day, and I was surprised to see people already in line! But I am super excited for this amazing team of chefs to open up this new spot. If you are familiar with the Baboy Boys food truck then you already know how delicious this food is going to be! They had a limited menu during soft opening, but you were able to get a glimpse of what's to come on the full menu which definitely got us excited to come back again. They appeared to still be working out the speed and efficiency side of it, which is totally expected, so please be patient when you come here! They have also been adjusting their hours throughout soft opening to accommodate for restocking and readjusting processes, so make sure to follow on Instagram so you can see their current hours. The space itself is pretty small, but they do have some indoor seating and a few small tables outside as well. I was super excited to see the lechon burrito on the menu because that was the first thing I ever tried from these chefs. The Cebu style lechon is like no other! So flavorful and I love the sauce and pico de gallo that they use in the burrito. We also tried the sisig silog which comes on a skillet so it felt very authentic. However, it does not come with rice so you may want to add on a side or bring it to go and add on rice at home. I'm not sure if it was a mistake that the rice was forgotten since it is labeled as a silog on the menu, so they would just either need to provide the rice or change the name so it's not too misleading. I love the vinegar that they give on the side, I may need even double the amount because of how good it is!! Can't wait to return - they also have a brunch menu now and I've got my eye on those ube pancakes!!

Blink you will miss them. Don't have a sign you really have to look for them but worth it. Small seating areas inside and out. I also talked to someone who had the lechon burrito he totally recommended it. Have to get that next time. Food is tasty! Service not the quickest but very friendly and accommodating! And ambiance is simple let's eat feel. Highly recommend this place if you love lechon.

We found this place on yelp and it did not disappoint! Bangus and garlic noodles were amazing. We had the ube pancakes but i would not get them again. i can't wait to try other menu items.

We came during soft opening on Sunday at 11:00am and there was just a little line but nothing too crazy. We ordered a bunch of things to try and all of them tasted great. The ube pancakes was soft and not too sweet with good ube flavor. We also got the sisig burrito, arroz caldo, bicol express, and 1 lb of lechon. I thought the price was decent for what you're getting. They're still adding more to their menu and I'm so excited to try. Hopefully they'll add drinks options in the future but so far so good!

Off to a good start! If you know this location, you know that the restaurant turnover there is REAL. Over the years, I've seen countless restaurants come and go but something about Bilao makes me think maybe they can break the cycle. When we went on a Sunday afternoon the place was already popping. It's definitely a small restaurant so any busier and there would definitely be problems with seating. Luckily, we were able to secure indoor seating on a hot day (they have outdoor seating as well), but beware it can get pretty toasty inside too. Now for the food. We ordered the fried pork chop and lechon silogs as per the cashiers recommendation. Both were tasty and were well portioned. I'd say the lechon skin was a little tough for my liking but I'm guessing that shouldn't be a problem if you get it earlier in the day. The chicken skewers were also good too, although not as good as Fil-Am's and definitely not as cheap. The lumpia and halo halo were pretty standard, nothing sensational but worth trying once. Overall, certainly a great addition to the Pocket area and an even better one to the Sac Filipino restaurant scene as a whole.

It's still a soft opening, but the staff was efficient. So they replaced the Taiwanese shop that used to be here. We went inside, placed an order for what we wanted, then found a seat and sat down to eat. They called our number and sent our food to our table. We had dinuguan, cebuchon, canton pancit, and garlic rice. We really enjoyed it, and the food here is really good and not overly salty or oily. The shop is a little small, so not many tables. It's better to get there early during lunch hour.

Still in their soft opening stage and now open for weekend brunch. Here at 9:30am and tried the ube pancakes and waffle. Well-plated. Hubby liked the waffle better. I liked the pancakes better. Isn't that always the case?!? The ube coconut sauce was super good! The right amount of sweetness! Servers were nice and efficient. The place was simply decorated and clean! Our second time here and there will be more. Come check 'em out!

We dined here during their soft opening and decided to try a good variety of dishes: Pork Chop Silog, Pork Skewer, Chicken Skewer, Lechon, and Lumpia. Everything that came out of the kitchen leaned into garlic in the best way--rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying with every bite. Pork Chop Silog The Pork Chop Silog was the standout and easily my favorite dish. It came with two thin, deep-fried pork chops that were lightly battered, loaded with flavor, perfectly cooked garlic rice, and slices of tomato and cucumber on the side. The pork itself was moist and flavorful, with the batter adding just the right amount of crunch without being heavy--this is absolutely a must-try and something I'll be coming back for again and again. Chicken Skewer plate The chicken skewer plate arrived with two juicy chicken thighs, that same mountain of garlic rice, fresh tomato and cucumber slices. We asked for the chicken to be cooked with less char, and they nailed it--the inside stayed very moist, tender, and full of flavor. This is another dish we would happily reorder on future visits. Pork Skewer plate The pork skewer was tasty and well-seasoned, though it had a bit more fat than my wife prefers. Because we also requested minimal char on this one, some of that fat didn't render down as much as it might have with a longer cook. I'd still order it again for variety, but I'd pick the Chicken Skewer and Pork Chop first before going back to the pork skewer. Lechon The Lechon was excellent and exactly what I look for in this dish. The skin was extra crispy, the fat was rendered down beautifully, and the pork meat stayed moist, tender, and packed with flavor. At around $20 a pound, it feels like a great deal for the quality and something I would definitely order again. Lumpia The Lumpia here was a bit different than what I'm used to, and in a good way. Instead of the usual short, bite-sized pieces, these were longer rolls with a moist, garlicky meat filling that paired perfectly with the chili dip. They might have been cooked a touch long--darker in color than typical--but they were incredibly crunchy and still full of the flavors we love, and we'd absolutely order them again. Service and atmosphere For a first-day soft opening, service was on point. Our server, Annie, was very friendly, helpful, and handled our special requests (like less char on the skewers) without any issues. The interior is simple and comfortable, with natural tones and lots of four-top tables that give the space a cozy, homestyle feel, and the whole staff came across as super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. All in all, BILAO delivered excellent food, warm service, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I'm really glad to have them in the neighborhood and I'm sure the community will see them as a real gem of a restaurant as they get fully up and running. Simply Wonderful!!

Went to Bel Air a few days ago and noticed this spot had new tenant, window said sold out. Next day sold out. It was about 5 pm lots of people inside. Chef just pulled a big piece of lechon out with beautiful crispy skin. Bought a pound for $20. Chef was welcoming and cut up my lechon. It was tasty. Will come back for lumpias.

I heard on social media that there was a soft opening so I had to check Bilao out since it's just a few minutes from my house. This place took over the old Taste Above location next to Sai Varee. I ordered to go since I went out during a work day. They have a limited menu right now. I ordered 3 different dishes to try them out. My order took about an hour to make since they were pretty backed up but they did offer to contact me when my food was ready, which worked out nicely. I'm definitely coming back to try some of their other dishes. I'm excited to have a new place like this in our neighborhood! Pros: staff were friendly and answered all my questions. I loved they were willing to work with me since the food had a bit of a wait time. The place is small but organized, I didn't really get a good feel since I was in and out after ordering. I ordered the pork chop silog, bangus silog, and the lechon silog. They did a good job with the pork chop, flavored well and batter was perfect. The lechon was crispy and the meat was tender. Fish was battered and seasoned well. You get a lot of food in your order. Cons: a little wait for the food but I'm sure they'll work out the kinks as time goes.

FOOD: - Lechon Silog ($22): this is what most of the pics are of.. however I was pretty disappointed in this. The outside/skin is super hard and I couldn't eat it. Inside was kinda of like pulled pork and slightly dry imo. I wouldn't get this again. - Bangus Silog ($18): I didn't actually try it since I don't eat seafood, but my brother enjoyed it. He said the bones were edible, making it easier to eat. However, it was oily and he could only eat half of it in one sitting. - Pancit Kawali / Lechon ($16): highly recommend. Noodles garlicky and delicious.. I think the noodles are more garlic noodle than pancit. Lechon kawali cooked well. Overall great flavor. I can definitely see myself craving this in the future and coming back just for this. Lots of noodles, slightly unproportionate but still good and a great value. - Longpia Lumpia (5 pieces for $13): these were good as well. Very long, about 7 inches and a little thicker than your typical Shanghai lumpia (probably at least the size of 4 Shanghai lumpia combined). Very crispy. I would also get these again. SERVICE: order at the counter, then pick a table. They bring the food out to you. Although, there is a sign that says "pick up here" so not sure if that's just for to-go orders?? For it being their soft opening, service was pretty quick. Food came out within 10 min. We came on a Wednesday around 4:45, so I'm sure weekends are busier. INTERIOR: There are six 4-person tables and one 2-person table inside and a few small tables outside. Tables are on the small side. LOCATION: a couple different Chinese food places have been here before, so hoping this place lasts longer than its predecessors. It's right across from Passion Hair, Cleaners and CVS. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Overall, I would definitely come back. I hope they last a long time!

Do be mindful they run out of things. Last time we were there they were out of lumpia and halo halo.

Ummmm.... Disclaimer for anybody just stopping by to eat…read morehere on your drive home....call your order in ahead of time so that they will for sure have food available for you(and your family) to actually eat, otherwise the lil one at the register will keep saying"...oh, unfortunately, we ran out of that..." OR "...unfortunately, it will be a 40 min wait for that..." i mean, they told us they ran out of rice?? What filipino anything 'ran out of rice' ?? ...THIS place! Lol Anyway, we came in 3 fams deep and basically the restaurant was probably not ready to accommodate alot of orders taken 2.5 hours prior to closing time on a sunday. Also, its sacramento summer heat at 103 degrees outside and this spot only using overhead room fans and a portable fan sitting on top the coldest thing inside the restuarant, cola fridge. We had to make sure the kids ate something so we ordered the pork adobo and rice with some lumpia on the side. At least our other fam was able to order silogs and a few savory chicken combo....i guess timing is a virtue here. Cost is not bad for what the food is, just wish it was ready available. Overall thought....theres no more Savory Chicken in milpitas and this the only one to get it if you are craving it and live in sf bay area. So it is what it is solid 2 stars for experience alone, if food is on point then they get that plus HALF POINT.

But for the same price, we can get so much more at places like Oriental Market and just as delicious to satisfy our craving for Filipino food. Parking was easy with plenty of spaces out front, service was great and friendly. Seating space? Extremely limited, especially if you have a party of 5 or more. Best to order for takeout food which brings me to my main point - if I have to order Filipino takeout because of extremely limited seating, I'd rather simply get a la carte elsewhere and pay a lot less or hit up Rocklin area where there are restaurants that serve fantastic boba drinks with fantastic Filipino dishes for much more affordable prices! Is the food incredible? Yes! Will it satisfy your craving for Filipino food? Absolutely! Would I return? No, I wouldn't, to be perfectly honest. Regardless, I feel it's worth a try if you haven't yet but just be mindful of the highs and lows. It's not all great, but it's not all bad. Mediocre and average, at the very least, given all factors. Do I have high expectations of Filipino restaurants? You bet I do!

It's hard to find decent Filipino food, especially in this area. I would definitely suggest this…read morespot if you're ever in the mood for something that tastes like home. The space is small, so seating is also pretty limited. You order at the counter, take a seat, and they'll call you up once your food is ready.
