After seeing the previous reviews and photos of the sisig meals ordered by other customers, I couldn't help but wonder why my order ended up with a very different presentation. Why did my sisig meal come with PANCIT TOPPED WITH GRATED CHEESE, while the SISIG ITSELF WAS TOPPED WITH GRATED CARROTS? The overall presentation was quite different from what I saw in the other customer photos and from what I expected based on the menu. I understand that food preparation and presentation may vary, but consistency is important...especially when customers are ordering the same dish. My favorite part of Pinorrito is that they have calamansi juice, and with this heat in Sacramento it's the perfect refreshing drink to have. Staff is always nice and friendly, and quick service as well. Just a note that the pancit is garlic noodles (when I ordered) versus that of typical filipino pancit you'd get at a family party. read more

Went to Tahoe Park Food Truck on Friday and gave these guys another try. Last time I tried sisig tacos and this time the Rice Plate with Pork Sisig $15.99 and a calaminsi juice $7.50 hit the spot. I took this home to-go to cook 2 fried eggs myself instead of paying $1.50. Side of garlic noodles was a very small portion but tasty. The.juice was light but refreshimg. No soggy rolls here! And the noodles? Saucy, slightly spicy, with the perfect chew. It's comfort food with a punch. With downtown Sacramento tax + 2.8% ish credit card machine fees (wasn't stated in their pay machine) - total was $24.46. The flavor was great!! The drizzle of hot sauce on top is a must! It adds so much to the dish. That combo with the other sauces and the seasoning on the meat was so good! I had the chance to experience Pinorrito at my workplace, when our building organized a food truck for lunch. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and the food was fresh. I ordered the sisig based on staff recommendation, adding in a side of two lumpia. The sisig was fatty and cooked nicely, but not much of the calamansi/vinegar tanginess that I'm accustomed to, even after squeezing the included sliver of lemon. Nor any spice (thought you can add on a side of sriracha-type sauce). I did like the crunch of onions for extra texture. Pork lumpia were perfectly fried, and served with a sweet and sour sauce. Rice was cooked well. However, for $23 (which includes tax/tip), I wouldn't go out of my way to try Pinorrito again. The portions are smaller than expected for such a price tag, and the flavor wasn't what I prefer for sisig. It also does not match the menu photos (both online and on their truck), which advertise the sisig bowl with a fried egg and chili pepper. If I spot them at a future event, I would probably stop by for the lumpia. read more

I caught Pinorrito at a smaller food truck event and I'll definitely seek out the smaller events to dine with them in the future. The wait for food was a lot shorter this visit and it came out hot and fresh! We ordered Pork Lumpia (5 pieces for $8.99) and the Seared Pork Sisig rice plate ($14.99). Both were out pretty quickly and were hot. The lumpia was crispy and flavorful and my husband commented that he really enjoyed that the sauce was a bit spicier than typical sweet chili sauce. We liked the kick! The Sisig was flavorful and came with rice and a fried egg that had a nice runny yolk when we popped it. It was a good portion when you paired it with the lumpia. "...Food truck with standout pork sisig..." If the Yelp headline descriptor means standout as in distractingly gritty and under-seasoned, then sure. I mean, the fries themselves in the sisig fries are amazing as they're crispy and absorb the various sauces well (very reminiscent of Papa Urb's, IYKYK). Such a letdown regarding the meat though; I became very skeptical on taste right upon receiving the fries and seeing the meat being noticeably dry. I ended up eating around the meat and just the fries. Lumpia has a rich savory taste to it but has an underwhelming crunch. Overall a mixed bag hence 3 stars. Perhaps might be an option to consider at a food truck event if you really have a hankering for some sort of loaded fries but wouldn't say it's a must-try. read more

I was lucky to happen upon Pinorrito at the Asian Pacific CultureFest happening in Elk Grove last weekend, and what a treat it was! We got their loaded fries topped with pork sisig and a fried egg. Fries and potatoes might as well be their own food group to me with how much I consume, now that being said a loaded fry dish is always a yes from me, and this dish was the perfect vessel to add in some traditional Filipino flavors. The pork sisig was well cooked and flavorful, while the fried egg was cooked just right so that the yolk was still a little runny in the middle and could be mixed into the dish. Overall, a great bite that made for a very happy tummy during the lunch hour at the festival. Got the pork sisig loaded fries, when they were at "Our Street Night Market." Luckily, I caught them in a relatively short line, and they were fairly quick getting orders out. I tried the pork sisig loaded fries and added an egg on top. Total was $18. The fries were thin, hot, and crispy (except for the ones in the middle that had the meat right on top; those got soggy of course). The citrus-marinated pork was fresh and flavorful and so tender. The white sauce on top was tasty and the pickled veggies and cilantro complimented the meat. The egg was way over cooked. It did nothing for the dish (no egg porn), and I ended up tossing it. I didn't order it any special way, so it should've came as a sunny side up egg or over easy at the most. Aside from the egg, the presentation was very nice and portion was good, although heavy on the fries. Service was friendly and food came out faster than expected. I used to get their fusion tacos on repeat, but I recently tried their pork sig sig with rice. For a seemingly simple dish, it hits the spot with the right amount of flavor and mild fattiness. The meat was tender and juicy. The folks serving food have always been friendly and attentive. They've also been extremely accommodating when I've asked for modifications to spiciness or the amount of sauce. The food was decent, but not really reflective of the essence of Filipino cooking. This is my second time to try this food truck. I did not write a review the first time because I was a bit underwhelmed with the sisig, and I thought I would give the benefit of the doubt. Besides there are many reviews that seem to be raving about this food truck. This second time I purchased an inihaw plate dish. Again, I was underwhelmed. Maybe the yelp reviews are just overselling so when I actually tried it the second time, it felt underwhelming again. The pork inihaw is not really how its typically done; the cut was really not recognizable and not to mention the meat was lukewarm and the side of pancit canton (I had to guess) was flavored over the top with so much soy sauce that it looked somewhat burned to me. It is not an inexpensive plate, so you sort of expect more. It would be better perhaps to use pork belly for the inihaw as in real life you do not really see inihaw with bits of pork like how it is served in the dish. So I thought I would write a review in the hopes that the company can improve and really reflect what Filipino cuisine is. Filipino cuisine is not mediocre. Unfortunately, that is how it felt to me, just mediocre. I think the food truck will benefit from seeing what is inihaw at Seafood Market or Island Pacific in Elk Grove and will do much better if it is aligned more with how traditionally inihaw is made. There are many other good examples of Filipino food. Among a few that I've tasted: Teriyaki ATBP in Folsom, Fiesta Philippines in Rancho Cordova, and the new Kabayan in Folsom. So there's more than a few examples that this Food Truck can compare its food too and evaluate honestly if it is in the same league. Thank you for your time. read more

Always Happy to try something new and boy, was I glad I did. Pinorrito Food Truck was at Elk Grove's Thursday Market and the sweet aroma tantalized me to walk over to their line. They have a clean looking black color truck with easy to read menus and pictures to point to when ordering. The theme is Filipino food and the prices are all competitively priced. The cashier was friendly and quickly processed my order. I was provided a short range buzzer with a number so when my order was ready for pick up, I came back to the pick up window. This was much nicer since I wasn't called loudly like cattle. I ordered the Ribs Adobo and it came with rice, one fried egg, picked onions, and garnishes. My dish was available for pick up 10-15 minutes later. I would have liked the option for them to serve adobo or garlic rice for an additional up-charge. Pinorrito's ribs were tender, full of adobo flavor, and left me craving for more. I'm looking forward to trying them again, I might also order a second fried egg next time. read more

Food in the Hood - WestPark Wednesday [Roseville] Pinorrito was one of four food trucks that participated in this Wednesday's neighborhood rotation. We were excited to try their rice plates... loaded fries... their "Filipino" tacos (LoL)... and lumpia, potstickers and spring rolls! Okay, maybe not all at once but everything sure looked good on the menu. We ordered the Grilled Pork Inihaw and the Ribs Adobo. The wait was sooo long, I think they ran out of rice and had to cook more. Rice takes at least 20 mins or so to cook depending on the amount. Anyway, after 25 mins our food was finally ready. I had the Ribs Adobo but we each taste tested both dishes... the marinated pork was so tasty and delicious. The pork ribs was tender and juicy and so good. I liked them both but I enjoyed the Grilled Pork Inihaw better! Each rice plate came with a side of fried egg and pickled onions. The meat was laid on a bed of rice. Needless to say the wait was worth it. Hope they come back to Roseville soon because I'm curious how those "adobo" TACOS or a "grilled pork inihaw" FRIES?? would taste! I tried their mixed taco plate at the Bayanihan Festival at Elk Grove. It was a busy event but the line moved quick and the wait wasn't too late for the food. I wish the tacos were indicated which was which on the plate. I wasn't a fan of the meat with a hot pink marinade. It reminded me of bagoong. The two other tacos were yummy. Was excited to try this place out at he Sacramento block party. Ordered the sisig plate with egg. 20$. Very small portion. It was very dry and lacked seasoning and flavor. Rice was also a little mushy. The egg and pickled onion were the best things about the dish. The food truck itself is eye-catching. Reminds me of that expensive luxury shoes with the red bottoms (Christian Louboutin). Anyhow, The truck looks so chic and clean. The staff are friendly and nice. We got the Loaded fries with sisig and egg. The fries, in spite of the creamy cheese and sisig on top, remained crispy. It has been deep-fried to perfection. The meat is well seasoned and juicy, although it didn't taste like Sisig to me. I hope they change the seasoning to how the original Sisig tastes like. Overall, it tastes good. Finally got to visit Pinorrito at the AAPI Night Market and I was not disappointed. I feel like Sacramento definitely could use more Filipino and it's great to find another food truck that I can make a beeline for when I see them at events. They were quite busy on this particular but even despite that it was worth the wait. Also they give you a little beeper so you are not forced to wait around for your food. I picked up the Pork Sisig plate, Adobo Tacos and some vegetarian egg rolls. I really loved the pork sisig with the side of rice that was cooked perfectly. The wife abosultely LOVED the tacos and the little ones really enjoyed the Lumpia. I tasted a bit of all 3 but of course loved the sisig the best. Honestly I would have been happy with any of the three items for myself and their items are derivatives of fried, rice plate, and tacos. It's hard to go wrong and I highly recommend visiting this place if you happen to see it at your local neighborhood event! I really liked the pickled onion each dish came too. It helped give a little acid to balance each dish. I also noticed they offered a CA style option for people. I think this is likely for those who aren't used to the original style of the dish, which isn't for everyone as Sisig is traditionally made with chopped parts of the face of a pig. They're a food truck that I've seen at a couple different places. The times I've seen them they were at District 56 in Elk Grove, at Jan Rau Park for the Food in the Hood events, and at the West Wind Drive in Theaters off of Bradshaw. The food looks and tastes great. I've had the sisig plate, loaded sisig fries, along with an order of lumpia. The sisig plate tastes like how it would be made at home. The loaded sisig fries works really well as a fusion item, with the fries balancing out the sisig really well. And the lumpia tasted amazing as well. Ordering was simple enough and they have their menu posted on the side of their truck the last time I went. Didn't take too long to get my order and you can tell everything was fresh. Got the pork sisig tacos and was excited for it. Perhaps they had an off day as I've never had sisig that tasted sweet--in the spectrum of teriyaki sweetness. The pork itself was extremely soft and somewhat mushy, lacking the varying typical textures of actual sisig which is a combination of soft and crunchy textures. I've had many different regional sisigs from the Philippines and this is the first time I've eaten sweet sisig rather than savory. The toritilla didn't even seem like it was placed on the griddle. Disappointed. 4 stars to support local business. Will try other items on the menu but I'm not ever going to wake in the middle of the night with a craving for their sisig tacos.
