Decent brewery in the Glacier area. We came on a late Sunday afternoon and there was about a 25 minute wait for a party of 2. Grabbed a flight and sat on the outside patio while waiting for our table. They still have makeshift plastic dividers in place separating tables and tables were spread pretty far apart. The beers were pretty good, though none stuck out as amazingggggg. The food menu was creative and diverse. Enjoyed the chicken sandwich and garlic Parmesan fries (more like chip fries) and the options for dipping sauces. My hubby's fish and chips was surprisingly good. The fish was super crisp, yet flaky, and had a great taste. The star was the accompanying homemade cocktail and tartar sauce-- the cocktail sauce is made with their IPA and had a great kick. I stopped in here for the first time and grabbed lunch the other day. I didn't get to try the beer, but I did try their ginger lemonade, which was great. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was very tasty. The garlic parm fries were great. The other person with me got the burger and said it was amazing. Next time I will try the beer and the burger. The service was great. Our server was very friendly and checked in with us a perfect amount of times through out the meal. Check this place out for sure. read more

Just left there an hour ago. Food was good but service was AWFUL! Took almost an hour to get our food and that's after we waited 15 minutes for a table. No ice! Not in the water or the soft drink. No salt or pepper, condiments or napkins available at the table. might no be a problem if the waitstaff EVER came back to the table. read more

I am thorough impressed with this brewery and restaurant! The food and drink in the surrounding areas of the national parks we've been visiting are never ultra impressive. Backslope brewing was the best place we ate on our trip! We got the fried pickles to start. My husband wasn't a huge fan because he likes fried pickle slices, but I preferred them this way! It came with a dipping sauce that paired perfectly. 9/10 We both got the fried chicken sandwich and wow, it was AMAZING!! (Still thinking about this sandwich. It was perfect) 10/10 Jake got the French fries which were fairly standard while I got the side salad which was really good. A bit over dressed, but by the time I was through with my sandwich and the pickles I was full anyways. They had a great, wide beer selection as well. My favorite was the lawnmower. Absolutely adorable local brewery with a variety of great beer and flavor-packed food. It's obviously popular from the amount of guests that visited while we were there - and deservedly so! I ordered the Bistro Burger with garlic Parmesan fries, my husband ordered the Bulgogi Bowl, and we shared a helping of the Mac & cheese. I also got a flight of beer to try out, and would definitely recommend doing the same to maximize your tasting experience - it's a great price for the opportunity to try four 3oz pours of deliciousness. Now let's talk food, because I know that's why you're REALLY reading this. The Bistro Burger was chef's kiss incredible. It's cooked to a juicy medium, topped with tart & sweet Balsamic and pickled onions, a healthy dollop of smooth goat's cheese, and super-fresh microgreens. It's absolutely bursting with flavor, but if the burger itself isn't enough, it's well worth your while to upgrade to the garlic Parmesan fries. They're more like medium-sliced potatoes than fries, but they're smothered in a generous helping of Parmesan and garlic topping, and are the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft starchy interior. Oh yeah - and did I already say that they are SMOTHERED in Parmesan-garlic goodness? The bulgogi bowl was also fantastic, but I can't do it justice due to my personal aversion to cilantro. My husband is happy to report that it had tons of flavor and texture, and he would be glad to order it again. The only thing I'd skip is the Mac & cheese; while it was a delightfully creamy, cheesy treat, it just can't stand up to the bold, well-married flavors of the other dishes we ordered. Amazing food, amazing beer all brewed on site. We ordered the electric noodles and ginger bowl and both dishes were outstanding. We had a flight and a few pours, all was fantastic. Service was awesome, Kelsey was outstanding. Not totally loving the rap music, but the other stuff outweighed the music. This was our first food stop when we arrived in Columbia falls - not far from our hotel. We shared the fried pickles that came with a tangy tomato sauce - it was good but I prefer fried pickle chips instead of spears but sauce was good. My husband got their beer flight and I got their ginger lemonade. He liked 3/4 beers and the lemonade was so refreshing. Came here for some beer after we were denied entrance at Glacier National Park. At 1130pm, the park reached capacity and denied everyone from coming in. They told us to come back in a couple hours, so we made a pit stop in Columbia Falls and stumbled across this gem. Unfortunately, we ate prior to going to GNP so we weren't hungry, but the food here looks and smells amazing! I ordered a flight of beer and my boyfriend ordered a pint. We sat outside with the warm weather and enjoyed the company or other GNP rejects. Server was wonderful and quick to bring our beers. She also suggested that we get to GNP by 6am as her friend have also experienced the similar issue where they couldn't find parking. I would love to come back for a meal! Service is great! read more

We are very excited to have been referred to Backslope for beers and food! They do not take reservations, so we did have to wait about 20 minutes for a seat, but the perk is they seat you outside and your able to order beers while you wait. How perfect is that?! One downfall is that I am biased to my Ohio beers and unfortunate the beers here did not have the depth and flavor we love. Overall, the beer was okay. However, the food is a must try! It felt authentic and that they put a lot of work in their menu and quality of food. We had the ginger bowl, pulled pork sandwich, and fried chicken sandwich, all absolutely amazing! Backslope Brewing has always been a solid choice for delicious, thoughtfully prepared meal and a tasty beer. Yes, their menu has changed--and yes, it's still amazing. You can still get a burger if that's your thing, but their falafel and gyros (wraps or plates) are loaded with amazing complex flavors, fresh veggies/greens/herbs, and plenty of meat/protein. I'm always stoked on how MUCH food you get and how high the quality is. And they obvious they put a lot of thought into crafting their menu items with the right sauces, toppings, and seasonings to really make them "pop". My household doesn't go out to eat very often, and Backslope is one of the few remaining spots we feel like is well worth our hard-earned money. The food is bomb, service is great, the faces are friendly, and we hope they stay a solid presence in the valley! read more

After a decent little hike in GNP we stopped in a Backslope Brewing for brewery visit #241 for me. Hey, you haven't been to 241 different breweries! BB was fairly busy on a Friday at about 5pm with quite a few tables occupied. We were seated on the enclosed patio area which was super nice with the beautiful weather. First up in my flight of four, was a Pillow Fight between SWPFTD and I. Wait. No, that's later back at the hotel and no I'm not giving a review of that... Anyway, the Pillow Fight wheat was very refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The Biere De Garde was a very nice amber ale with a little barnyard on the finish. No that's not a bad thing at all. Try it! Brown Bear is a Belgian brown aged in whiskey barrels for 2 months. This had that distinctive Belgian flavor but paired nicely with the whiskey and oak. None of the flavors overwhelmed the others. SWPFTD actually went with a pint of this and she generally avoids Belgians. Last for me was the plum sour. From the aroma I expected a very sour beer but even SWPFTD didn't find it overwhelming. This had a lot of plum flavor and sour on the nose but it was much more moderate on the flavor than I expected. We didn't do real food but did have the garlic fries which were perfect to hold the two of us over until dinner. BB was definitely a good stop. Check them out and try some beers! Spent a few days in Columbia Falls and stopped by Backslope Brewing. Best decision all week! The beer was delicious! The food was incredible! Husband had the honey sriracha pulled pork and I had the chicken sandwich! Both were HUGE and tasted amazing! The kids each had the Mac n cheese and loved it. I snagged a bite and thought it was too good not to take the left overs home . The beer, the food and the atmosphere was hip! I didn't order any of their beers (only water for this mama to be!), but my husband had the Pilgrim and thoroughly enjoyed it! The days of the original backslope burger were soooo much better. When these guys first opened they served up the best burger I had ever had! It had sprouts on it, it was a creamy goat cheese I believe and juicy. Now, I just ate a tasteless hockey puck style burger and they have the nerve too to charge $2 for substitution of fries for a salad which consisted of a handful of baby greens probably from Costco. And, I can guarantee they cost the same or less than a potato plus labor to make fries! Really? This place has turned into a tourist trap on the route back and forth to GNP. Thank God the deep fried pickles are still good. For a total of $31.00 for a burger w salad and some deep fried dill pickles???? Not even close to being worth it. Sorry -won't go there again. Bummer. Had a bad experience due to bad service. The food was good, but we were charged $1.50 x2 for two 1 ounce servings of buttermilk salad dressing & The serving cups looked dirty. About the water served: The water was served to us from pitchers that are kept next to the front check in at the front window, these pitchers look dirty/dingy and we witnessed the water being taken from old pitchers and consolidated into nearly empty ones. This is a recipe for disaster, never should water be recycled this way and served to the public. read more

My favorite brewery and casual restaurant during our week stay in Columbia Falls for tons of Glacier National Park hikes. We went here several times. Everything sooooooo good. Whitefish is a cool town, but we thought this little brewery and restaurant far surpassed what we tasted in Whitefish. And those places were very good. But this place is the one that earns 5 stars. Don't expect fancy. But so good. Why? Amazing beers. Like the Saison aged in wine barrels. Like their IPAs and huckleberry one. Like their ginger beer. Food? Amazing bowls of quinoa with wasabi, rice, salad, tofu with Thai peanut sauce, pulled pork "healthy" bowl. But oh, their burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken wings. Go unhealthy a bit, please. So good. Service? Super friendly. Negatives: they cannot serve beer after 8 pm. So double your order if arriving at 7:45.
