They have a system where they will call your cell phone when your table is ready. We got a hightop tables outside. There seems to be quite a bit of outside seating with a few spots and bar inside. Our server was friendly and had a good attitude through the rush. We ordered a Green Day salad and a Pepper Mi-Roni pizza to share. For $15 for the salad, it was extremely small. Honestly the size of a small side salad. With the price we thought it would be big enough to share like side salads for the pizza but we were wrong. The pizza was pretty good. I appreciate small cup pepperonis on pizza. The crust was crisp from being in the fired oven. The lunch was decent for fueling us the rest of the day. read more

The restaurant itself offers delicious pizza - today's choice, the Dora-Rita (BPP's version of a Margherita). Loved this, in particular the sauce (not too salty or sweet) and the CRUST! So very good with an excellent crunch to it. And they had my favorite red wine - Sangue di Giuda (yes, please!). The setting is 10/10. The outdoor seating arrangements were fabulous but it was too hot to sit outside today so I ventured inside instead. The menu has about ten different pizzas as well as some appetizers and salads. I opted for the sausage party pizza. It had sausage, bacon, pepperoni, prosciutto, ricotta, mozzarella, and shaved parmesan cheese. It was very tasty. My boyfriend and I tried "Back Porch Pizza Bar". We went there Sat for lunch. We were very hungry. Once we stepped in the place. We felt that something is very unique about it. I saw some customer enjoyed watching Sunday games themselves and with servers. When we were deciding what to eat, we learned that we can make mixed pizzas on one pizza. So I wanted to have mushroom and my bf wanted pepperoni. They were so delicious. We could tell that qualities of each ingredients were greatly fresh and tasty. My mushroom was no too oily. My bf who is very picky about food in general. He was very impressed and enjoyed every bite. Pizza had nice amount of crispiness, no too thick or not too think. So we weren't overly stuffed at the end. Wings were so juicy and meat came out easily. Blue cheese dipping sauce was super perfect. The waitress we had was very professionalism. Take what you want from that. The pizza is fine, if you want to wait 30 minutes. The servers are great, but the manager needs to be trained on how to pick up on customer service. -2 stars for the manager on 12/21. She knew our pizza was sent out wrong, even though it was just a tiny detail that would not have been a big deal if she were the tiniest bit service-oriented and solution-oriented. I mentioned that the $3 jalapeño dusting was on the wrong pizza. All she said was "Oh. Sorry." and then walked off. Our server Sara came minutes later and we asked for a jalapeño dusting on the correct pizza. she was extremely apologetic and reacted in a way that a manager in any respectable establishment would. Great place! Loved sitting outside. They had heating lamps speckled around. The drinks were creative and delicious and the food was so good we killed two pizzas, their cheese bread and drinks. We had a pizza on their specials which had bell pepper, jalapeños, pepperoni, banana peppers and I think something else. Then we had the carnivore pizza. We thought this would be a good lunch spot and it was. We chose to share the Dora Rita pizza and the Green Day Salad. It was more that enough food for the two of us. The marinara sauce on the pizza was exceptional and there was lots of basel. While visiting Mount Dora, we stopped by Back Porch and the place was absolutely packed. I figured the wait would be long, but after talking with the general manager Rachel, she guided us perfectly and got us seated. She had eyes on every table, checking on everyone. I don't know how she managed it, but she handled that floor like a pro. The service overall was great for such a busy night. Kacey was our server and he did an excellent job. On a Saturday afternoon, there's nothing better than sitting outside under the sky on a beautiful evening, enjoying a glass of wine and taking in the beautiful scenery around you. This is exactly how I felt at the back porch. The scenery, atmosphere and our server were just great. Food and drink was another issue. We had the red sangria which was entirely too sweet. We also shared the beet and goat salad and the Fungool pizza which is supposed to be topped with truffle oil and balsamic, we tasted no truffle oil at all and the balsamic was too much. Ok, I am back re-reviewing Back Porch Pizza Bar. I was promised that the quality issue I complained about a few months ago was corrected. I frequent the music in the ally behind Back Porch on Saturday evenings. A few months ago I got a pepperoni pizza that was very sparse on pepperoni. To say the least I gave a very poor rating. Tonight I was told the issue was fixed and that I would get a good pepperoni pizza (plenty of pepperoni). So here I am giving a 5 star review for a great pepperoni pizza. Holy Garlic Knots. Fresh garlic oozing with butter and fluffy bread make the garlic knots an appetizer to remember. The marinara was a little tangier than I personally like but the ranch was amazing. My brother that lives in the area told me to check out this place. Absolutely no disappointment from me. From the moment I walked in - I felt like I was a regular. The staff was SO friendly, and not in a fake way that you typically get at restaurants. The inside has a few small tables, and a bar area that seats 5. They have a beautiful patio area that has abundant seating. Their food is made fresh to order. The kitchen is open concept, so you can watch them make your food if you'd like. I loved watching them mix everything together and hand make the meatballs to throw into the wood stone oven. I would recommend this place 1000000 times over. Carmen was so personable, and once a rush came in - she mastered it like a champ. Nicolas (sp?) I was also fun to chat with and you can tell that he puts his heart into what he makes. It was fun watching him work. Even in such a small space - everything and everyone flows together. I think that's super special. The food was phenomenal and I can't wait to come back. We also had the Notorious F.I.G , Say cheese pizza,and one of their specialty pizzas of the day. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. We went on a Sunday and just had to wait 20 minutes they sat us fairly quickly under the patio heater and the night was just absolutely perfect! Always exciting when a new restaurant comes to downtown Mount Dora. We were exited that a wood-fired pizza restaurant was the new addition. This place has a nice outdoor dining area that was a nice place to sit alongside the farmers market. We tried two of the cocktails which were both flavorful and refreshing. For pizza we ordered the Fungool which was a mushroom lovers dream. Plenty grilled portobello, a mushroom ragù as the sauce, ricotta, arugula, truffle oil and balsamic reduction. It truly was a mushroom explosion. We also ordered the If You Like Pina Coladas which was a pizza with coconut bechamel, pineapple, spam, and fontina topped with coconut flakes. This was also good and a nice take on a Hawaiian pizza. We did feel it was missing something along the lines of what you would get from a tomato sauce. Overall both pizzas were delicious and we are looking forward to return more. The dough recipe is delicious and just eating the crust was a treat. I tried this restaurant out with my husband and friends last weekend and I am so glad we did. My husband and I ordered the sausage party pizza (minus pepperoni because I don't like pepperoni) and it was amazing! The staff was friendly, atmosphere was great too! There was live music outside which was great. The only thing I would change is to turn off the music coming from the speakers while the live music is performing. It was like competing sounds and we would have preferred to hear only the live music. Overall score 10/10. read more

We aren't from Mount Dora, so when we try places based on reviews in another town we are living on the edge. Well, we weren't disappointed! Back Porch Pizza had great music, lots of fans to curb the Florida heat, and a fun little swing to sway while you munch on delicious pizza! We tried the Notorious PIG pizza, which was nice and hefty, and full of flavor. Based on my pizza knowledge (from watching Best in Dough and trying authentic Italian pizza in Naples), their pizza was similar to a Napoli-style pizza. Delicious crust and tons of good flavors layered on top. We also tried the Not Your Average Dough (on their daily menu at the time). These were amazing as well - full of flavor (and the right amount of oil). The service was superb at this location. We got tons of love and table touches from the server, great recommendations, and even got some flavorful marinara sauce from another member of the staff. We typically eat at Pisces Rising when we visit Mt Dora. Our grandson was with us on this visit and asked for pizza. We knew this pizza spot was right next door, so we stopped in We were greeted by a charming young lady and informed of a short 15 minute wait. We relaxed on a nearby park bench. After about 10 minutes the greeter updated us that we would be the next diners seated. Shortly thereafter she gave us the choice of a standard table or a high-top. This experience was getting off to a very good start. I wish I could remember the name of our server and the greeter because they were both friendly and pleasant. My son and I both ordered the "South by Southwest" Poke Bowl. This selection consisted of shrimp and scallop ceviche, tomato, cucumber, roasted corn, black beans, seaweed salad, cilantro slaw, blackened tortilla chips, and cilantro aioli. I really like Poke and this did not disappoint. The blackened tortilla chips were fresh and super-tasty. Those chips could be a great table treat even without the poke. The selection on ingredients blended for a delicious bite and everything was so fresh and perfectly prepared that each item was pleasing even on it's own. I almost didn't notice that the seaweed salad was missing. I'm sure it would have added a little pop - however, I am not complaining; everything in the bowl had a party in my mouth! I had a slice of the pepperoni pizza. I likes the thin and crispy crust. The cook was the perfect slightly burnt crust edges. They chose a very good seasoned pepperoni with a medium spiced flavor. I think it is agreat option that they offer a Kid's Choice cheese pizza with only mozzarella. The idea is that the mild flavor of mozzarella is a better taste for children. There is an option for a grown-up cheese topping that had a blend of cheeses that appeal more to an adult's palate. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the setting is enjoyable. The restaurant is less than a block from the lake and right across the street from a charming park.
