Food: the reason for the 3 stars. I had high expectations because of all the praise 1921 gets and have been wanting to check it out for years. I ordered the Confit Dr. Joe's Duck Leg over Anson Mills Blue Barley, Cherry Jus & Hakurei Turnips ($40). The leg was well executed, juicy and apparently marinated and cooked for several hours, but I did spot a mildly undercooked part in it. The duck/barley ratio was 1/4 and duck on top of a what turned out to be a barley "al dente, dryish salad" was not a wise decision in my humble, non-Chef opinion. My friend's chicken liver pate with dark bread was delicious, but something I'd never thought about ordering at a restaurant. The goat cheesecake didn't taste like goat but was well executed. Service: excellent. Our server checked on us several times and was patient and polite. Ambiance: inviting and sophisticated.

1921 Mount Dora has just been recognized by Michelin as a Recommended Restaurant in Mount Dora, Florida. I thought this was the perfect time to finally visit for lunch today. The restaurant is absolutely lovely - with an open kitchen right when you walk in from the courtyard. There's also a gorgeous private dining area you can reserve. My server, Kyle, was a sweetheart - attentive and friendly. And I had maybe the BEST mocktail I have ever had in my life - the sublime From St. Kitts With Love. Trust me, order this anytime during this Summer - you will LOVE it. My burger wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. For me, for a $24 burger - that first bite should elicit a "Wow!" I don't doubt the quality of the ingredients, I just didn't think the flavor was there. I do think 1921 has a solid Happy Hour, though. Tasty bites in a great setting with a friendly team to pour. I want to try 1921 again, but maybe for either brunch or ordering a bunch of goodies during Happy Hour.

We came here for appetizers and drinks and had an amazing time. Our server Danny took great care of us and guided us though their vast menu. Happy hour is a good deal especially with a 9 dollar old fashioned. Stop by if you're in the area. It is totally worth the trek as well.

Solid tasty hamburger, and great mocktail! Madison did a great job of serving us. A special place in mt Dora - which has many places to eat - but "1921" is a cut above !

I can't recommend 1921 enough! We dined here about a month ago and took advantage of Orlando's magical dining program. We tried several dishes, but the pork chop and chicken breast stuck out the most. Everything was full of flavor! It was a beautiful night and we were able to sit outside. It was nice being amongst downtown Mount Dora and all their visitors. The service was great! This is now one of our favorites!

1921 is a very cute restaurant in downtown Mount Dora. The server was nice and was willing to accommodate allergies in the mixing of cocktails. My husband and I got the magical dining menu. The soup was very good but everything else was lack luster.

The restaurant is located in a quaint town, in the heart of downtown. It has nice ambience to enjoy a private meal. The service was great, very attentive.

This was one of the top 2 recommendations for dinner in Mount Dora and where we chose to eat our first night in town celebrating my birthday. At first, I was a little worried that the menu looked a bit limited. Let me just say, I was pleasantly surprised. The location is unique with a patio entrance and cozy dining areas adorned with art throughout the inside. The food was well prepared with unique blends of flavor. We started with the rolls which were good but the pimento butter stole the show. My husband wanted to try the jalapeño poppers but we were not a fan. I chose the filet and it was the best I've had in a while. Very tender and full of flavor. My husband got the Wahoo entree and said it was just okay (but he ate half of mine). The blueberry cobbler was amazing with just the right amount of cobbler and plenty of fresh blueberries topped with ice cream. The service was stellar and our server brought out a birthday dessert with a candle at the end. Our menus were also printed with a Happy Birthday note next to the date. Great touches that make a meal memorable. Would definitely come back when visiting.

Last minute reservation for New Years Eve and sooo glad I did so!! Arrived a bit early, even after walking the beautiful and fun downtown streets, so asked to sit at the bar. Got a delicious old fashion and a mocktail; Worker Bee. The bar was stately, clean, and orderly. The waitstaff was polite, poised, and knowledgeable about the where the food was sourced. The interior is either a very well restored historical building, so just styled after one, either way I kept being fascinated by it haha. Highly recommend for a nice dinner with good cocktails to accompany. You can dress up or go casual (we did).

Somehow this delicious work of art is shrimp and grits.

I bump them up. I've been in a few times now and thoroughly enjoy them everytime ...especially when they're quiet. Burger's in my top ten. Conch fritters were better than anything I've had in the Keys Goddammned Goddamned. Now, if they only had chowder. Exemplary waitstaff round out excellence in foodthings. Happy, happy, happy.

Appetizers during happy hour: mushrooms and fish dip. Yum!

We came here for our anniversary dinner and it was nice they had happy anniversay on the menu. With that our service while here was pretty good there was a while where I didn't have any water in my glass but overall good service. The restaurant was very nice and clean inside as well. On to why we didn't like it so much. The food. I really liked my fruit loop cocktail and the speck and rolls. But my Fiance and I both really did not like our entrees. The duck was off tasting, yes I've had a lot of duck so I can say for certain it was the duck. I really wanted to like this but somehow there was just no flavor and very little seasoning and with the off taste of the duck I couldn't finish my food. I did like the rye spaetzle on my plate though it was slightly crunchy and had a great taste. The dish was really well presented. My finance got the bourguignon and it was almost like there was no salt or pepper or hardly any seasoning at all on it. There was just a meat flavor which was not bad we just wish it was seasoned. The potatoes that came with didn't taste right either almost like it was burnt or there was burnt or spoiled butter used in making them.

Is this a dressy restaurant ? We will be on vacation in shorts and don't want to be under dressed. Thanks

Smart casual should be fine. I wore a collared shirt and khakis and didn't feel over or under dressed.

Even on a busy Friday evening, I was able to snag a cozy round table in the back for my friend and me, which was a pleasant surprise. Bonus points for the upstairs bathrooms not requiring a code (unlike the ones downstairs)--a small but appreciated detail! I ordered an espresso martini that was dairy-free (which I love), but it ended up being a bit too sweet and slightly watery for my taste. I only took a few sips before deciding not to finish it--not bad, just not quite for me. Since I was the DD, I didn't bother swapping it out, but it was still the right call. My friend's gin cocktail, on the other hand, was light, mild, and super refreshing--she loved it! Also, shoutout to the bartender for bringing the drinks over to our table--such a nice touch. I'd absolutely come back and give another cocktail a try. The atmosphere & service alone makes it worth a return visit!

Wow! What an amazing meal!!…read more I arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm, and unbeknownst to me, had just beaten the rush hour crowd that was lined up out the door when I left at 1:30pm! This place is a cool, converted house. I was led through the downstairs dining area, up the stairs to the second floor, through the second floor dining area, and into an adjoining room - the "Bar". This was one cool room. It consisted of several comfortable sofas on one side of the room, a few high top tables alongside a bookcase wall, and the attractive dark wood bar that could accommodate about 8 people. I was led to a high top table next to a wall of bookcases with all types of interesting literature, from novels to Encyclopedia Britannica. Almost immediately after sitting down, I was greeted by my server "Bre". She gave me a menu and took my drink order - coffee ($3), black, and a glass of water, TYVM. She returned within a few minutes with my coffee and water. The coffee was very good. For an appetizer, I decided to try their Irish Whiskey Onion Soup ($8), and for my main course, I went with their Cashew Chicken Montagu Sandwich ($15). My soup arrived and the "eye appeal" was only surpassed by the amazing taste! Caramelized onions, Irish Whiskey broth, and with Swiss and mozzarella cheese, this was absolutely, no doubt in my mind, The Best Onion Soup I've ever had!! I was just hoping no one was watching me eating it as it was a bit challenging with the long onions, but truthfully I didn't care because it was so good! My Cashew Chicken Sandwich arrived next, and with a dreadful feeling of an impending "let down" after such an amazing appetizer, I was just blown away after taking a bite of this masterpiece! Perfectly cooked, moist chicken breast with a cashew crust, brie mornay, cranberry-apple relish, on a brioche bun! Did you all see the photo I posted? Just Amazing!! So, after two home runs in a row, I'm thinking to myself, Who can come up with such amazing combinations? I mean seriously, What type of Mad and Brilliant Chef do they have working in the back kitchen?! Ha! (I'm sure the Chef isn't "Mad") I've hardly mentioned the Service, but Bre constantly checked on me, refilling my water twice, and my coffee three times, all the while asking me how I was enjoying my meal. The service couldn't have been any better. My only regret is that I had absolutely no room for dessert and I know it must be excellent Take this to the bank, For one of the best meals you can experience, come to The Goblin Market Restaurant! Asked for a water immediately, and set my things down before going to the restroom... which was clean, easy to find, and well stocked, so zero issues there! Hehehe..... When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day. Everywhere has issues occasionally, but this was handled well, so I will mention it, and I do knock off a star for this visit, but I am still willing to try again if I am in the area.
