Even on a busy Friday evening, I was able to snag a cozy round table in the back for my friend and me, which was a pleasant surprise. Bonus points for the upstairs bathrooms not requiring a code (unlike the ones downstairs)--a small but appreciated detail! I ordered an espresso martini that was dairy-free (which I love), but it ended up being a bit too sweet and slightly watery for my taste. I only took a few sips before deciding not to finish it--not bad, just not quite for me. Since I was the DD, I didn't bother swapping it out, but it was still the right call. My friend's gin cocktail, on the other hand, was light, mild, and super refreshing--she loved it! Also, shoutout to the bartender for bringing the drinks over to our table--such a nice touch. I'd absolutely come back and give another cocktail a try. The atmosphere & service alone makes it worth a return visit!

Ava was our bartender/server. I started with the Saturn cocktail. It was refreshing! My friend had a lemonade and we had waters. We shard the deviled eggs- 5 or 6 came in the serving and they were on a bed of fried leeks. They were good- they have a oniony flavor to it which was strong on our breath! I had the turkey croissant sando which has edam cheese and a raspberry chipotle sauce and possibly bacon. I ate half my sandwich (I think the bacon was on the other half) and half my fries. You have a choice of chips, fries, salad, fruit cup (some with upcharge). My friend had the curried chicken on a spring mix salad with pecans and avocado, red onion, tomato and cukes. Everything was so good. I had a second cocktail- the blush theory, also refreshing. We sat and chatted and didn't feel rushed out. There was one other table up there with us, a few downstairs and a couple outside. They have two bathrooms that are unisex, well stocked and clean. They have two parking spaces next to their alley entrance but otherwise parking is on the street and typically free. For dinner, they do recommend a reservation. Today they had a burger special, which sounded great, and there are many more menu items I'd like to try.

Be bellied up the bar and a very friendly bartender welcomed us, knowing full well we were visitors to the community and nicely asking us where we were from. They have plenty of beers to choose from and I wanted to try something new. She knew her bar that's for sure! she provided a sample to try before ordering, which I ended up doing. My better half observed a slushie machine rotating in the background and inquired. It was a sangria concoction and after sampling it chose to order that. She really liked the slushie and on yet another hot Florida summer it was not only refreshing it tasted great. The prices were reasonable. We spent about a hour at the bar and afterwards meandered over to a nearby restaurant we had our minds set on. After having supper we returned to The Nest for a couple more drinks before the concert. The sangria slushie was wiped out, so the better half ordered an Amigos Pineapple THC Soda (alcoholic beverage FYI) from the main menu and enjoyed that. There was a changing of the guard and the new bartender was just as sweet and personable as the first one. We will gladly return on our next visit to Mount Dora.

Asked for a water immediately, and set my things down before going to the restroom... which was clean, easy to find, and well stocked, so zero issues there! Hehehe..... When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day. Everywhere has issues occasionally, but this was handled well, so I will mention it, and I do knock off a star for this visit, but I am still willing to try again if I am in the area.
