Lake Minneola Tiki Bar & Grill - Sausage Mac & Cheese

Lake Minneola Tiki Bar & Grill

Super cute spot that seems to be a hidden gem on Lake Minneola!…read more Once we got there, there were no tables available, but a server greeted us and sat us pretty quickly. We opted for the alcoholic drinks, but if I came again, I'd opt for the mocktails, as both we ordered were crazy light pours. The food was pretty good. The highlights for me were the fries, onion rings, and the jalapeño ranch, which I suspect is housemade. The burgers were decent, but mine came out pretty much well done, when I ordered medium rare. Took the key lime pie to go, and it was good! Overall, worth a visit. They certainly have a great location.

When you arrive the parking lot connects to a walkway that is lined with tiki torches they light up after the sun goes down leading you to the bar area and then the restaurants tables on the docks. The open facing lake view is absolutely gorgeous, when you get to the restaurant area you can pick any open table and a server meets you promptly. They have everything from fresh seafood, delicious burgers, and crisp fried side options like tater tots, onion rings, and of course French fries. We ordered their Mushroom, Onion and Swiss Cheeseburger and the Smokin' Jalapeno Burger! Both were solid burgers with 1/2 lb angus beef thick patty and great flavor combinations. Ordered some drinks from the bar that were refreshing and for dessert we split the Key Lime pie that is a MUST order (sorry not sorry Publix)! For amazing views, great food, and relaxing vibes, I highly recommend making your way out here soon! We will be back to try out some of their seafood and specials very soon!

It was super busy when we went our first time and it was not during happy hour on several occasions we have visited. We live close and visited here a bunch the first 2 years we moved to Ocala and have visited less and less since then. There have been several occasions we have stood at the bar waiting not only to be greeted but also waited very long times to receive our drinks. In their defense, many times the bartenders were busy attending to patrons or making drinks. However, there were several times some bartenders were just talking to friends or messing around. The drinks here are super detailed so they take some time and TLC. I will say, most times our drinks taste delicious and the presentations are magnificent! The decor is so cozy and the ambiance is consistent. Hubs and I absolutely love Tiki themed bars and fell in love with Hawaii after our visit years ago so this place is perfect for us. We also like this place because they are open later than most places in town. We recently visited for a nightcap and it was definitely different. I recently had referred someone here because she was looking for Hawaii themed food (they used to serve food) and she informed me they did not serve food. That sucks because we always meant to try it but never did. Looked good. When we recently visited, they did not have physical menus and were referred to QR code cards on the bar. Our bartender was attentive and helpful with choosing a drink during our recent visit. He actually went out of his way to make the orange peel twist in a perfect manner. I appreciated that! I was going to suggest to hubs we have another drink and then a roach crawled across the bar. I discreetly informed the bartender of the dead roach I killed when we closed out and he took it away. Usually this place is clean and tidy so I was surprised to witness the roach. They do have seating outside as well but we usually sit inside to listen to the themed music.

Make sure to get there early so you can add your name to the wait list. Friday night we waited about 2 hours checking in at 8pm. Loved our drinks! Tasty and nice looking. As a tiki bar aficionado, Trader Sam's is the real deal. Besides the authentic atmosphere (with…read moreanimation, no less!), potent drinks and interesting history, the phenomenally entertaining staff bring the experience to the next level. Bonus for the cool tiki mugs you can buy and add to your collection (I still have my mom's tiki glasses from the 60s and 70s). Depending on what drink you order, they may lower the lights, turn on the volcano and start chanting. I'll be honest, as an introvert, this wasn't my jam the first time I visited, because we were seated at the bar and the bartenders chose me for one of the acts. But the last two times, we were seated at a table in the very back and I love to watch from my dark corner. My husband ordered a zombie and our waitress did a hilarious zombie act as she brought it over to him. It's just so fun. I ordered a pineapple drink that featured Dole Whip and I didn't love it because the consistency was reminiscent of a Slurpee rather than Dole Whip. I feel like drinks are a little hit or miss and some are strong AF so know what you're getting into. Other things to keep in mind: if there's just two of you and you're not sitting at the bar, you will share a table. I don't love this but it is what it is. One time the couple we were seated with was cool but this last time, I made the mistake of making a light political comment that was meant with stony silence... my bad, but I don't need to think about putting my foot in my mouth if I'm not seated with strangers. All good, though, because for half the time we had our four-top to ourselves. This place is great for groups if you're willing to wait. Use the My Disney Exp app to put your name on the waitlist.

Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and you can tell there's real thought put into the food and presentation. We ended up staying for well over two hours just enjoying the whole experience -- the vibes, the music, the drinks, and the overall atmosphere were just so good. It felt cozy, lively, and welcoming all at the same time. The drinks were beautifully made and paired perfectly with the food, and the staff and crowd made the space feel fun and relaxed. It's one of those places you randomly find and then immediately want to gatekeep (but also tell everyone about). Truly such a great experience from start to finish. Can't wait to go back!

It's very Trader Sam's, including a lot of neat Disney memorabilia on the shelves on the walls behind the bar. Dark and stormy tiki bar vibes. The service was super friendly, and the food and bev came out very timely. The drinks were great, and they had a really nice mocktail menu. You can come and enjoy a nice drink without getting alcohol. We also ordered a burger from their limited food menu. It was very good. Not in competition for best burger in Orlando or anything, but the flavors were on point, and bun was nice and soft, and the furikake dusted crinkle cut fries were the perfect side item. Overall, this place was very cool, and if you haven't come here yet, you need to.
