Nice wall murals and decor that makes you feel like you're in Hawaii eating authentic Hawaiian cuisine. Our 8-year-old boys like their Lahaina Fried Chicken. I usually stick to and recommend the Kalbi, Bacon fried rice, Hawaiian nachos, Hawaiian BBQ Beef and their mac salad. Service deserves to be highlighted here. In regards, to PETER, the manager. We had recently called in our to-go order, spoke with the counter guy who was very monotone and didn't sound too happy which is worth saying but it didn't bother me. I ordered a platter #2 (LFC, chicken teriyaki and Hawaiian BBQ beef) and asked to change the teriyaki chicken to Hawaiian BBQ chicken. I repeated it a second time to make sure he entered it in correctly. My boyfriend picks up our food order, brought it home and the order was incorrect. Instead of changing the teriyaki chicken, like I asked, they changed the Hawaiian BBQ beef to Hawaiian BBQ chicken. I was looking forward to the BBQ beef so my boyfriend immediately called the restaurant to let them know of the mishap and asked to speak to the manager. Our interaction with Peter was him asking what happened. He apologized for the incorrect order and thanked us for calling and letting him know so they can improve in their service and know how to train their employees. He then took down my boyfriend's name and number so we can get the platter #2 for free on our next order. He also added "I'll throw in a cheesecake" which was nice and shows that he's willing to go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. Peter, you are always a pleasure to come in contact with. Your interaction with us, over the phone, shows that you have excellent customer service as being a top priority. The restaurant is lucky to have you especially as their manager. This place is tight for parking. We were there last week at around 12:15 on a weekday. The restaurant was 80% full, but because there is no insulation, it was EXTREMELY NOISY!!! Little hole in the wall that takes you back to Oahu. They have a little store with Hawaiian goodies with decor that really reminds me of Hawaii. Get the fried chicken. It's amazing, juicy, tender and so flavorful. I eat it without the sauce and it's still delicious. The loco moco was also amazing. The portion was huge so I recommend sharing or you'll have leftovers for awhile! Also don't eat too much because they have a small bakery at the front of the store with other goodies. Whenever I'm in the area, I'm definitely making time to come here to either dine in or take out. When I was younger, we would come here to eat whenever we were in the area. The food here is great and so is the service. I would highly recommend the Lahaina fried chicken. It's tender and so flavorful. The batter has some sweetness to it. They give you a sauce to dip it in but you don't need it, cause the chicken has a good amount of flavor already. But if you personal preference if you want to use the dipping sauce. And since I really like Lau Lau, I usually get that. Their plates come with mac salad and their ramen cabbage salad. Personally, their Mac salad isn't my favorite. But it is still good. Their ramen cabbage salad is very good. Their dining area is very open and bright. It's great for big groups which is why I used to go there after basketball games. read more

Do I get the two item combo? One of the mega platters so that I can try almost everything? Is there room in my tummy for Haupia or Jello Cheesecake? Yes, no, no. Hawaiian Ice Tea - A little passionfruit flavor and this tea is on the sweeter side. A Hawaiian sweet tea! Wontons (w/ Portuguese Sausage) - A different take on the fried wonton. The chopped up Portuguese Sausage gives it a sweet and mildly spicy taste. For me, the whole thing almost felt like I was eating something curry flavored. Kalua Pork and Lahaina Fried Chicken Combo (w/ Rice, Ramen Cabbage Salad, Macaroni Salad) - A stocked plate that was great all around. I received plenty of fried chicken, a stack of pulled pork, enough rice to match and generous heap of ramen cabbage salad. The kalua pork was tender, not fatty and had a robust smoke flavor. Loved it. The fried chicken had a crunchy, flaky coat that breaks into that moderately sweet Hawaiian style chicken. I added Hawaiian Hot Sauce to give it some fire! The mac salad has a balanced mix of macaroni, potato and everything else. The cabbage salad has just enough dressing without overwhelming the cabbage and the ramen bits in the salad were still crunchy, which means it was freshly tossed. Any combo plate you get will have a lot of meat, a lot of food. I was thoroughly satisfied with my meal. After dinner, I walked over to the marked side of the restaurant and picked up some cookies, banana bread and furikake potato chips. The Banana Bread is the best deal here. It's a huge 10" loaf for $8, enough for ten thick slices. I haven't broken into the potato chips yet but they look good being sweet and salty. The Peanut Butter cookies were dense with peanut butter but maybe a little bit too much so since the cookie was a little too soft for me. The Crunchy Chocolate Chip cookies are really good. The service here is amazing. Our server checked on us many times and our drinks never hit empty. I like that they have the plastic shield to protect the servers when they place the dishes on your table. If you're on this side of town and a little too lazy to drive to Gardena or Torrance, Back Home in Lahaina is here to fill your Hawaiian Food craving. Everything here is solid. This is my second time here. This time I had the sampler platter with the fried chicken, Hawaiian bbq beef, and the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. Everything was delicious. The crispy noodle salad isn't bad, but it doesn't compare with the rest of the plate. The Loco Moco is also delicious and the portions are pretty substantial. No one in our group on either trip was able to finish their food. Everything is also very reasonably priced. I was told that I had to try the cheesecake. I'm not big on coconut but this was really good. Also the cheesecake had more of a mousse consistency. The servers were really nice and friendly and the restaurant has a laid back feel. I was around the area and decided to check out this restaurant as it was recommended by a friend. I got their Lahaina Chicken plate, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, and Char Siu Chicken plate. Maybe I got the wrong dishes to try but my family and I were disappointed with our food. The Lahaina Chicken and Char Siu lacked flavor and tasted dry. Their sauce was good but barely saved it. Solid place for Hawaiian food. To start, we got spam musubi. I really liked the flavor, but there was just a little too much rice. I got the combo with chicken katsu and kalbi. They were both really good, and I like the salad that comes with it. Bf got the fried chicken and char siu.
