    Seasonal pasta with added shrimp
    Kourtney W.

Had a nice dinner with my bestie here today... the restaurant is beautiful! We opted to sit outside because it was such a nice day .. the outside seating area was cute.. we shared our appetizers .. the steak & potato and fish & rice plates .. the steak and potatoe was delicious! Steak was made well done though when we asked medium well .. the potatoes were soft and yummy. The fish & rice was great! A fried ball of flavored rice topped with a thick cut of seared tuna with some I believe unagi and spicy mayo sauce.. it went well together! I loved it! My main dish was the braised short ribs .. it was so tender you did not need to cut it with a knife! 2 thumbs up! My friend's main dish was the seasonal pasta add shrimp... I didn't try it but it looked delicious Our server was great! He was attentive and made sure to come by to refill and ask if we needed anything ever so often. Perfect place for a nice sit down and chat and enjoy some delicious food

The Back Bistro is a great fine-casual restaurant. Jeff Back is a sommelier, and he has an excellent, affordable wine list. The food is creative. Their covered patio is heated during the winter, and provides nice shade during the summer. Located next to the Palladio 16 Movie Theater, it's perfect spot for dinner and a movie. It's great for date night, happy hour, or large celebrations. Good food, good service, good drinks, good people. They also occasionally do special dinners and cocktail events. Be sure to follow them.

Steak and blue cheese salad (1/2 portion)

Stopped here for my birthday. Loved the ambiance! Warm and inviting. Was greeted as soon as I walked in. I sat at the bar while waiting for my friend. Enjoyed a glass of house Chardonnay. Friendly bartender. We were seated as soon as my friend arrived. Ordered goat cheese fritters. They are TINY. Like the size of large marbles. But delicious. We ordered the steak and blue cheese salad and the prawns and polenta meals. We mentioned we were going to share and asked for two extra plates. They said they will split up the meals for us. So nice of them! Our food was very flavorful! I'd definitely be back again. They have a great happy hour.

    Artichoke appetizer was amazing

We come here quite often. This place is a great spot for a date night or a nice outdoor dining experience. The food is delicious, although our steak was overcooked. Their cocktails are fantastic, and they have some great bartenders. My favorite drink here is Penicillin. I've tried it at other places, but it's not to my taste. The service was just okay. We had to ask twice for water to be filled, and the appetizers came out without plates. The steak came out without a steak knife, and we had to wait for it. I was a bit disappointed because I've tried this place before and it was better.

We had a wonderful dinner with well-made cocktails and great service. The restaurant was fairly full on a Saturday evening and we got to hang out at the bar. We got a couple shareable- the artichoke hearts were really good and the vegetarian risotto was pretty yummy too.

First time ever at back bistro, and our experience was excellent. My girlfriend and I did the 2 for $59. We started with the artichoke dip and goat cheese fritters. The artichoke dip may have been the best artichoke dip I have ever had; the bread that came with it, had a hint of garlic to it as well, which was great. The goat cheese fritters were fresh - hot, creamy and full of flavor. For the entrees, the pesto pasta was fantastic, and the chicken parm was just as good. We split a bottle of Chardonnay, and finished with dessert. Our waiter Drew (who was extremely professional and helpful on every level) recommended the Triple Pot de Crème, and this right here was the best part of the night. Everything else was amazing, but the dessert was on a different tier. Easy 5 star rating, with no complaints. Come try back bistro if you haven't before

We've been here a few times meeting friends for lunch and dinner. This is also a great place for dates as well. This place is upbeat and friendly. The bar area is cool. We waited about 10 minutes for them to get us seated together. Time passed quickly while in awe with the decor. ;) Our waiter was cordial and gave us recommendations on customer favorites. He brought us menus and waters while we checked out the menu and specials. Our food was tasty! The pork belly was delicious. The bacon cheeseburger was good as well. They even made my fries extra crispy and soft on the inside! YUM! My friend went for the steak, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. My other friend enjoyed a lamb burger. Overall, a great place for good food with family and friends. Ample parking. Clean bathrooms. Excellent service and all other staff members were friendly as well. Competitive pricing and great happy hour menu.

Checked this place out for lunch and it was great! Pulled pork sandwich had good bbq flavor and good combo of textures with the crispy onions. The fries are nice and crispy and the POG juice was refreshing. Great service, the waiter was very attentive. Nice restaurant, good oldies music playing, and nice seating indoors and outdoors.

Walking in, the whole vibe of the place and the decoration was so elegant yet comforting. Absolutely loved the interior of the place. The service was so quick and efficient, they gave us the best recommendations. The food was sooooooo good. I highly recommend the chipotle fettuccine and the s'more brownie as a dessert. Super delicious!

We came here on our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised that everything was delicious! We shared a BBQ chicken flatbread, had a couple of happy hour drinks and then our entrees. I had a steak and blue cheese salad and my husband had the prawns polentas. We had had the 3triple layer Pot de crème layer with vanilla custard, chocolate, and sea salt. Highly recommend this place! And will come back soon! No pics of the food, we were hungry and ate before I could snap a pic, lol!

From the moment I walked in, Garrett was tentative and pleasant to work with. He checked in often and made sure our drinks were refilled. The food was fresh and came out fast, mouth-watering and amazing. Loved the dark, inviting and elegant atmosphere! I will definitely be back soon!

Ask the Community - Back Bistro

Are any of the desserts gluten free?? I see that they not labeled, as such, but wanted to see if anyone had experience?

I'm gf too. They have a pot de creme, a creme brulee, and an ice cream dish that are all gf. Menu may change seasonally but that's what's there last time I went.

What is the corkage fee here?

It seems that Back Bistro does rich foods very well, what's light on the menu?

The menu changes with the seasons. Being Winter right now, the menu features hardier richer food using seasonal ingredients and winter vegetables. As Spring arrives the menu gets lighter as greens, asparagus, peas and fruits come into season.…

The cocktail menu is thoughtfully curated across a wide range of spirits, with enough creativity and variety to appeal to just about every palate. My wife and I especially enjoy coming here as the seasons change to see what new creations they've introduced, while still being able to fall back on favorites from their regular menu. Their Old Fashioneds are exceptional, and as someone who gravitates toward tequila and mezcal, I'm always impressed by what they do with those spirits. The Cozy Old Fashioned is a personal favorite, but I've yet to have a cocktail here that felt like an afterthought. Everything feels intentional, well-crafted, and true to the personality of the place. We enjoyed: - pomegranate martini: light and fruity, good pomegranate flavor - yuzu lime drop: seasonal for summer only! - the First Lady: strong but smooth; came with a nicely cut ice cube - whiskey sour: classic flavor, executed well The drinks were great but I really wish there was some sort of snack to munch on. Even peanuts or mixed nuts would have been welcome. Adding a small food menu of bar snacks would make me stay longer!

There was plenty of seating on the shady patio, but it was really hot outside, so we opted to wait for a table inside. We had a drink and watched the NBA finals on the TVs (there was no sound so it wasn't noisy). I tried the Mustang Sally cocktail and it was well balanced and delicious! We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. It was the perfect vibe that we were looking for, comfortable, but classy. And the food was high-quality and tasty. We will definitely be back!

While our server was polite, the service was quite slow throughout the meal, despite the restaurant being fairly empty at the time. The food is SO good with everything made in-house and a clear passion is there with the quality and flavors. My husband had the "roadkill" burrito (pork belly with cheese and other yummy stuff) and I had the pork belly, Nashville hot, and quesabirria tacos along with their dulce de leche churros and vanilla bean gelato. Oh, and you start out with chips and 4 types of really good salsa. It was hard to pick out favorites, but we decided the peanut chipotle and roasted carrot habanero were goated; the other two were also also excellent, but can't help favorites. I'm terribly full and happy and can't wait to go back. The service was excellent, also. Presuming the name on the receipt was for the main person who chatted with us, Erik was funny and ended up being helpful with a side passion my husband's tackling (middle aged men and their love of smoking meat, amirite?). Jokes aside, everyone who works there was super chill and clearly stands by the food they serve. Thought it's not exactly SoCal, I grew up with Mexican friends in Bakersfield, all being either first-gen Americans or immigrants themselves, and had some of the best food ever while attending quinces or house parties, and it's been a long time since I've had deliciously authentic food like this. Also, totally unrelated to food but I like their bathroom setup. Have gotten smaller since the last time we came. I will say that I'm realizing the taco size is a bit on the small side. To really get full (especially for those who let's say didn't have a big lunch) it would be good to get 2-4 tacos for dinner. We have only tired tacos here from the Quesabirria to the octopus, roadkill to the cauliflower, and the al pastor and some other ones. So far they were tasty, some more salty than the others. I would say one of my favorite items is the elote, I recommend getting the whole corn that looks charred vs the bowl. The bowl doesn't do it justice and tastes like your eating corn from a can; there's no charred pieces. The chicharronnes appetizer was a good touch it tasted fresh and hot. The cucumber pineapple agua Fresca was also good, try it with Tajin on the cup. We had churro with ice cream for my mom-in-law's bday and wish they had other fun dessert options to share. One critique about our server was that he was not as attentive to our request: I called beforehand to let them know about the birthday and when we were done eating he hands us the check. So I had to go and talk with him; even after that he comes back with the plates for dessert which ended up no longer being a surprise which we had initially wanted it to be. And they also do NOT sing happy birthday here which is a bummer, but nonetheless we sang for our mom. Would we come here again, maybe but we may check out the Roseville location.
