Do not book unless you want to risk your reservation being cancelled…read more On August 20, I reserved a table for Sept. 19. I attempted to reserve the table earlier, but August 20 was the earliest it would let me book out. I had been planning my fiancée's birthday celebration for over month. I planned the whole celebration around this speakeasy and was so excited to end the night celebrating here; hence why I made sure to book everything far in advance. TWO DAYS before my reservation, I get a text saying "Sorry for any inconvenience" but my reservation has to be rescheduled/cancelled because the speakeasy had been privately booked. I then receive a follow-up text from them saying to "please note that their website says reservations are subject to change." Here's a note for your business.... Maybe don't accept private bookings the week of. Give general customers more than two days notice that their reservation has to be moved. Now I am scrambling to come up with new birthday plans two days before my fiancée's birthday, even though I planned this all a month ago. Again, I was so excited to try this place out, but now I would truly never recommend this place.

A lot of people rave about their fries if you're a fry connoisseur. We may be back to try again in the future, because the food was good, but if you're looking for a budget friendly dinner, this may not be the place.

They require a password to get in of which you can get by following them on Instagram. What really sets House Divided apart, though, is the passion behind it. The couple who owns the place has clearly gone to great lengths to create an exceptional cocktail experience. You can tell they genuinely love their craft, and that attention to detail comes through in both the atmosphere and the drinks. The cocktail menu is thoughtfully curated across a wide range of spirits, with enough creativity and variety to appeal to just about every palate. My wife and I especially enjoy coming here as the seasons change to see what new creations they've introduced, while still being able to fall back on favorites from their regular menu. Their Old Fashioneds are exceptional, and as someone who gravitates toward tequila and mezcal, I'm always impressed by what they do with those spirits. The Cozy Old Fashioned is a personal favorite, but I've yet to have a cocktail here that felt like an afterthought. Everything feels intentional, well-crafted, and true to the personality of the place. If you appreciate intimate cocktail bars, speakeasy culture, and bartenders who truly care about their craft, House Divided is absolutely worth discovering. It has become one of our favorite spots for a romantic drink and a place we genuinely look forward to returning to each season.

We enjoyed: - pomegranate martini: light and fruity, good pomegranate flavor - yuzu lime drop: seasonal for summer only! - the First Lady: strong but smooth; came with a nicely cut ice cube - whiskey sour: classic flavor, executed well The drinks were great but I really wish there was some sort of snack to munch on. Even peanuts or mixed nuts would have been welcome. Adding a small food menu of bar snacks would make me stay longer!

There was plenty of seating on the shady patio, but it was really hot outside, so we opted to wait for a table inside. We had a drink and watched the NBA finals on the TVs (there was no sound so it wasn't noisy). I tried the Mustang Sally cocktail and it was well balanced and delicious! We were seated for dinner pretty quickly. The only problem I had was deciding what to order. The luau shrimp salad? Meatball sub? I finally decided on the lobster mac and cheese. While the portion wasn't large, it was delicious! Creamy and mild with fresh lobster (not fishy) and garlicy breadcrumbs. My husband got the ribeye and was thin but large with great seasoning and veggies. I'm not a big steak fan but I really liked it. We ended up grabbing some beignets to go for the kids, which were really tasty and came with 3 dipping sauces (our favorite was the Berry, although we ended up eating most of them without sauce). The atmosphere was upscale, but very casual, quiet and fun. We saw families with young children, couples on dates, and friends enjoying a meal together. It was the perfect vibe that we were looking for, comfortable, but classy. And the food was high-quality and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Upon entering, the hostess with the brown curly hair was noticeably rude and unwelcoming, which isn't the first impression you'd hope for when celebrating a special occasion. The food, however, was outstanding and was definitely the highlight of the evening. Every dish we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. Service was a mixed experience. While our server was polite, the service was quite slow throughout the meal, despite the restaurant being fairly empty at the time. Overall, the excellent food helped make up for some of the service issues, but the rude greeting and slow service took away from what should have been a memorable anniversary dinner. I hope management addresses these concerns, as the kitchen is clearly doing a great job.

Unfortunately, the vibe back here felt a little too quiet and a bit lonely. We found ourselves dining among an older crowd and the energy just didn't feel quite like advertised. The drinks were pretty good, but were only filled just about 3/4 of the way which was kind of disappointing. We enjoyed the cabin like decor and cozy atmosphere. On our way out, we realized we probably should've asked to be seated at the bar or in the main lounge area. That space looked much livelier and seemed to have the energy we were hoping for. We might give this place another try just to experience it from the bar lounge area next time.

If you cannot resolve a problem, or if it is an ongoing issue, you should escalate it to someone with the expertise and authority to address consumer concerns. Another option would have been to table the conversation for a later time or on a different day until more information was available. What began as a discussion about a product concern quickly became focused on a employee instead of the issue itself. The manager appeared to become frustrated, stated to understand the main concern, yet responded with an unnecessarily intense tone and level of defensiveness. The food is SO good with everything made in-house and a clear passion is there with the quality and flavors. My husband had the "roadkill" burrito (pork belly with cheese and other yummy stuff) and I had the pork belly, Nashville hot, and quesabirria tacos along with their dulce de leche churros and vanilla bean gelato. Oh, and you start out with chips and 4 types of really good salsa. It was hard to pick out favorites, but we decided the peanut chipotle and roasted carrot habanero were goated; the other two were also also excellent, but can't help favorites. I'm terribly full and happy and can't wait to go back. The service was excellent, also. Presuming the name on the receipt was for the main person who chatted with us, Erik was funny and ended up being helpful with a side passion my husband's tackling (middle aged men and their love of smoking meat, amirite?). Jokes aside, everyone who works there was super chill and clearly stands by the food they serve. Thought it's not exactly SoCal, I grew up with Mexican friends in Bakersfield, all being either first-gen Americans or immigrants themselves, and had some of the best food ever while attending quinces or house parties, and it's been a long time since I've had deliciously authentic food like this. Also, totally unrelated to food but I like their bathroom setup. Have gotten smaller since the last time we came. I will say that I'm realizing the taco size is a bit on the small side. To really get full (especially for those who let's say didn't have a big lunch) it would be good to get 2-4 tacos for dinner. We have only tired tacos here from the Quesabirria to the octopus, roadkill to the cauliflower, and the al pastor and some other ones. So far they were tasty, some more salty than the others. I would say one of my favorite items is the elote, I recommend getting the whole corn that looks charred vs the bowl. The bowl doesn't do it justice and tastes like your eating corn from a can; there's no charred pieces. The chicharronnes appetizer was a good touch it tasted fresh and hot. The cucumber pineapple agua Fresca was also good, try it with Tajin on the cup. We had churro with ice cream for my mom-in-law's bday and wish they had other fun dessert options to share. One critique about our server was that he was not as attentive to our request: I called beforehand to let them know about the birthday and when we were done eating he hands us the check. So I had to go and talk with him; even after that he comes back with the plates for dessert which ended up no longer being a surprise which we had initially wanted it to be. And they also do NOT sing happy birthday here which is a bummer, but nonetheless we sang for our mom. Would we come here again, maybe but we may check out the Roseville location.
