Every time my family and I have tried ordering take out from this place on three separate occasions every time My husband would go to place the order three out of the five meals that we want to order they were always out of/ran out of. When my husband and I decided to have a date night and we went inside to eat the place was kind of gross on the inside and they didn't have what we wanted to drink they were out of that as well and it was a soda then we tried to order our dinner and what he wanted to eat the had ran out of!!! I used to go to Baccailis for its home made dishes. Service was courteous and we always had a pleasant time. Since they started having more customers, their quality of food has gone down. There are a few dishes worth ordering but it is far and few in between. I can only hope that they bring back their standards. read more

After reading the reviews here, we decided to try this place out for lunch today. Average cost. Chicken fried steak was nothing to write home about. Somewhat mystery meaty, country fried tasting, not that authentic chicken fried steak flavor.. Clay's down the block on Fry is far superior and more substantial. On special on Thursdays, it costs about the same too. Wife's burger was OK but again, inferior to Clay's. Her salad had something very sour tasting in it, probably the cheese added as a garnish on top. She took it out piece by piece.... All in all, other nearby establishments have better tasting food and for about the same price. read more

Good breakfast, right sized portions and reasonable prices, service a bit lacking unless you are considered a regular. Saw a number of tables that the waitstaff seemed to know and they got lots of attention and coffee refills. My husband and I were almost done with our meal before more coffee was offered. I guess they need more help. I really enjoyed my omelette, lots of bacon, and cheese in every bite. Worth coming for the food, service not so much. Stopped in here on a whim. My wife had the Texas Size Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. I tasted it all. The breading was tasty ave the steak was nice and tender. The potatoes were smooth and creamy. The okra was done just about perfectly. I had 12oz Ribeye with pinto beans and green cabbage. The steak was tender and very flavorful if a tad salty, I enjoyed it very much. The beans were packed with flavor too, add was the cabbage. This place is amazing and truly is homestyle American cooking. The restaurant has a friendly warm ambiance that made me feel comfortable and welcome. The food is prepared nicely and they have specials that are not even on the menu! You don't get that greasy presentation like you do at Clay's restaurant, down the street. Every dish I have tried has true flavor. Next door to the restaurant is a smoothie/coffee shop that has a very modern hip feel. All drinks served on the fusion side is very customizable! I've tried almost every drink here, and hands down the Kumquat green tea is the best for me! You can customize the smoothies too. I like the strawberry blueverry. My son and I are new to Katy. One day we decided to walk around and see what we could find. We stopped at Baccalis Cafe. We had seen it, and originally intended to try out Fusion 36 Degrees. Baccalis has a comfortable atmosphere. I decided to try something different, and ordered the veggie plate. I had a salad, green beans, and sliced tomatoes. I have ordered the green beans every time we eat there! They are so good! So flavorful! Their turnip greens are really good, too. Their cornbread is amazing! It's very sweet and moist! I don't even use butter on it! My son tries something different every time we go. He's had the BLT, the grilled chicken sandwich, and the chicken alfredo. We love Baccalis so much that we haven't even tried Fusion 36 Degrees, yet! We will make it one day. read more

Eh, it's alright. I originally started to give them just 2 stars, but the value and quiet atmosphere earned them an extra star that the just average, somewhat bland food lost them. Stopped in here this morning with my close friend, and he's a regular, as it's just around the corner from him. I ordered the Bacalli's breakfast special, with eggs over easy, which came with 2 strips of bacon (which I forgot to order crispy, but I was pleased to find they came out moderately crispy anyway...no limp bacon here!), a sausage patty, 'home fries' (which were this strange semi mush of pan fried potatoes that needed just SO much salt), and choice of bread...I picked a biscuit. Food was delivered quickly by our very kind server. I was pretty excited about the biscuit when it came, since it looked like the drop biscuits my grandma used to make, but that's where the resemblance ended. It was flavorless. Again, even the biscuit needed some salt. No amount of butter and jelly could help it. Carbonation on the sodas seemed off, too, like they were a little too flat. I mean, I'd try this place out again just because it's a nice little neighborhood cafe with really reasonable prices, and because my friend spoke so highly of them, but I definitely wasn't impressed with what I had there today. read more

We went here I believe on New Year's Day expecting at least mediocore food but this place was terrible! I ordered the chicken fried stick with mashed potatoes and corn. The chicken fried steak was not even decent and I feel like the high school cafeteria would've been better. The white gravy on top was obviously from a box and bland at best. The mashed potatoes were thick and not creamy and most likely also from a box. The corn was from a can and was still in the juice that came packaged with it! My bf had the hamburger steak with the gravy and onions on top and was so salty, he only ate half of it. We both left the place hungry and dissatisfied. Should've just gone to Luby's. read more

Good local diner with pretty standard diner food. (Pancakes, french toast, chicken fried steak, etc.) They make a solid breakfast, everything cooked correctly and pretty quick service. There are large after-church crowds so expect to wait if you go late on a Sunday. Had a serious craving for chicken fried steak on a Saturday afternoon and was looking for something near my house. It was just me & my 3 crazy, picky boys so I knew the place had to serve good food but would be kid friendly. Low & behold this hidden gem right under my nose. The waitress was friendly and we were promptly seated. The day was gorgeous so we decided to sit outside. I ordered lunch consisting on chicken fried steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The kiddos ordered their kids plates...2 chicken fingers & 1 chicken fried steak. The wait didn't take long to get the order. The portions were perfect on my lunch plate & the kiddos portion was generous. The food tasted amazing. My boys kept complimenting their food and recommended we bring their daddy ASAP. My wife and daughter came in today for lunch. We were seated promptly, but that was the end of it. We were ignored for approximately 20 minutes and then decided to leave. There were two waitresses and 5 tables. We saw the waitresses tend to the other tables several times during our wait. They even walked by our booth and tended to the group on both sides of us, but walked past us as though we weren't there. After 20 minutes of this, we decided to leave and find service elsewhere. Mashed Potatoes and Turnip greens both had an old and stale taste. Cornbread was dry and sugary sweet. Who in their right mind puts dried parsley flakes on Cream gravy? This is Texas guys! Let me know and I can teach you how to make the dishes on your menu. Your repeat business would definitely increase. The Chicken Fried Steak was not even freshly battered cube steak. Just some frozen something that could be bought at Kroger. Actually, IMO, HEB's frozen CFS is much better than what was served today. The menus are laminated and they are greasy and sticky!!! I wanted so bad to like this place, since it been recommended by several acquaintances. The whole place feels slightly sticky. We had to wait to be seated for a few minutes, and it was not busy at all. Eventually someone took our drink order. The tea is weak, and tastes more like water. The menu, like the over all atmosphere, was sticky, and huge. I ordered a party melt and black eyed peas, and my companion ordered the fried catfish and cabbage and black eyed peas. Luckily my party melt was good, and flavorful. My companion said her fish was ok but my party melt was better. During our meal there seemed to be an altercation of sorts with a customer ending with waitress storming off mad. We watched as the same waitress delivered the wrong meal to a table. This would have been easy to recover from, but she argued with him about it. He had ordered the chicken fried chicken, and she delivered the chicken fried steak. Again easy to recover from but she said he ordered the wrong thing, argued with him, and did he want that or did he want her to just throw it in the trash. He said He would rather have what he ordered and she walked off with an attitude. Now I am writing this review as I wait for our check. 10 minutes and counting since the table was cleared. While we wait, the same waitress spilled a drink all over a table. I sure hope she is just having a bad day and isn't always like this. The only reason I am giving this two stars is because my food was good and my actual waitress was friendly even though she seemed overwhelmed. 15 minutes and we finally got the check. And the man behind us got his chicken fried chicken. read more
