Friendly service with tasty food at a decent price! Babcia's has a cute little "hut" at the Broadway Market. They make mostly "unconventional" Polish food, but it's darn tasty. They offer a variety of pierogies ranging from traditional kraut and farmer's cheese to twice baked potato and apple pie. Amongst my group, we ordered two Polish tacos, two bombers (without buns), the Buffalo pierogi trio (stuffed banana pepper, buffalo wing and beef on weck), golumbki, a side of kapusta and a water for just under $60. Everyone really enjoyed their food. The Polish taco, which was chopped up kielbasa with sauerkraut, kapusta, horseradish sauce and Weber's mustard on naan bread was super filling, so filling that I had leftovers. at the taste of buffalo this past weekend, enjoyed their sausage, asiago and spinach pierogi. non-traditional, i know, but all ingredients that i really like. delicious! i was able to actually taste the asiago, one of my favorite cheeses, so there had to be a substantial amount of that in there. too often i've had something with asiago cheese (allegedly) in it, but not discernible. Sausage had a bit of a kick to it, but wasn't hot. there are plenty of opportunities to have traditional pierogi; i'm glad i wasn't bound by tradition. read more

Starting with the pierogi trio, it provided a satisfying array of flavors, loved all the sour cream on the side! Hope to try the dessert pierogis someday! The goulash was the star of my meal! Goulash is a dish that relies heavily on the slow-cooking process to develop rich flavors, and it seems Babcias pierogis nails it in this department. The meat and well-balanced spices likely make it a standout dish on the menu. However, the golabki falls short of my expectations as it was under seasoned. The Golumbki, stuffed cabbage rolls, should ideally be bursting with flavor from the meat filling and the sauce. The lack of seasoning might result in a bland taste and a missed opportunity to fully enjoy this classic dish. But with a combined bite of the goulash I did eat all of the golumbki. The service was good and the ambiance is made up of whatever is happing at the broadway market which can be quiet, low-key, and a little eerie, but it can also be loud, busy, and eventful! They have an amazing selection of innovative pierogi and the original kind are actually really good. It's just about a 5-star rating especially considering how lovely and enthusiastic and genuine the people making the stuff were. The prices are okay and everything I tried was really good. If you like pierogi you will like this a lot more than the ridiculous stuff served at places like Betty Crockski truck or whatever. At least you should, but there's no accounting for taste. This is hands down the worst polish food I've ever had. I preordered for a fundraiser through a church in Hamburg. The "sweet and sour cabbage" is a hunk of canned red cabbage, the pierogi is basically dough. The golumbki is somewhat decent but definitely never doing this again. read more

I'm not a pierogi expert in any way. But I'm working my way through the various options in Buffalo slowly. Today I stopped here on an impulse. I came to the market with our local musician and yelper Fox. We came to see what "fat Tuesday" was like here. On the way out, so right near the Broadway entrance, is this small stand. They sell a ton of variety frozen and make per page 9 flavors for you there. You can buy them one at a time or three to a set. I'd do a set of three. They come with sauces. The sets cost $6 +tax. I think they also make burgers if you like, but I'd go for the pierogis. read more

Babcia's pieorgies does a great job with: - coming up with unique fillings - presentation - customer service - price is fair - size is good There are only two downsides, both which I experienced today when I had their Buffalo Trio at the Erie County Fair, and a year ago when I bought their pierogies from their shop. The dough is too dense in my opinion, and the filling is not thick enough. The first time I bought some of their pierogies frozen and cooked at home, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they got freezer burned or that I cooked them wrong because the dough was tough, but today when THEY cooked them it was the same, so must be either the dough recipe or that the dough is not rolled down thin enough. Also both times the fillings just oozed out as soon as I cut the pierogi, and then it becomes flat, having to scoop back up the filling with the dough. I don't want to discourage others from trying Babcia's, as I think people should give them a chance for their unique flavors, but I make pierogies myself so I'm very critical. I also eat a lot of pierogies from different places and I have never had pierogies with such a dense dough. It may however be my personal preference, so I encourage others to still give them a try. read more

Babcias a Broadway Market staple, I stopped in here the other day with my mom and I needed some Pierogies! I got a three pack (3 of whatever you want) for $7 a fair price and I chose Farmer cheese and scallion, breakfast scramble, and sweet cheese all with sauteed onion and light sour cream. I waited about seven minutes and dug in and they were super tasty. I especially liked the sweet cheese it was so good! The farmer cheese and scallion and breakfast scramble were also good with lots of flavor. The folks working at their stand were very friendly and accommodating and I appreciated that they allowed me to mix and match my pierogi choices rather than choose one of their preconstructed trios on their menu board. I believe they're open every day the market is open so this would be a good place to stop in for a quick bite during lunch or on the weekends. I enjoyed it! I think you will too. read more

I was skeptical on buying these but I'm glad I did! I first tried the Apple Pie through a fundraiser and it was like my grandmas homemade pierogies and apple pie had a baby - SO Good!! I then got the Farmers Cheese from the Broadway Market and my picky husband loved them too!! He keeps asking me to find more. ***Make sure you're properly cooking them, boil then pan fry*** My only issue was transferring them from the hot water to a pan, they became a little fragile so don't toss them around like the store bought frozen stuff. read more

We live just shy of an hour drive and I was craving Babcia's pierogis and Camillia's smoked polish sausage. I hopped in the car with the girls and we went and got our fix. We couldn't order any freshly Cooked because of covid rules, but we did walk away with several bags for the freezer. Our favorite is the stuffed banana pepper. If you cook them the right way, boil first then fry in butter, oil and some onions they are amazeballs! The original flavors- potato, potato and cheese, cheese, kraut, etc are wonderful. The specialties all depend on your tastes. Yes they do tend to fall apart because they are homemade and not mass produced in a factory. Highly recommend them! read more

This is hands down the best pierogi that I've eaten! I was gifted two packages of beef on weck flavor and they are so delicious. The taste is absolutely authentic beef on weck and the seasoning is perfect. I've had pierogies before where they attempt out of the box flavors and while good it's not exactly right - but in this case, it was better than what I expected! I'd rather have this than the actual sandwich any day. Looking at their menu they have so many fun flavors - jealous of those living nearby who can try them. I enjoyed these so much that I'm thinking of going to Buffalo the next time I'm in Toronto just to pick up more and try the apple pie and other flavors as they look amazing. read more

One word: YUCK! My youngest sister paid a small fortune buying the traditional pierogis stuffed with cheddar cheese and potato. She bought them at Easter time for me, my parents and our other sister. All I can say is they were disgusting and none of us could eat them. They were so very dry, heavy and doughy with hardly any filling in them. What little filling there was did NOT taste like cheese or remotely like potatoes. Our family is Polish and German so we know how pierogis should actually taste. Never again. Bought two dozen pierogi and half had to be thrown away. They were so frozen together that we couldn't separate before boiling. They weren't even in the water for the full amount of time , given on the package, and they completely fell apart. Not the first time this has happened. For the price they charge, product is sub par. Tried their pierogi for the first time today at the broadway market and I have one word for them: AMAZING. The line is long with it is beyond worth it. My husband and I got the buffalo trio- three pierogi for $7.00. It comes with a buffalo chicken wing version, a beef on weck version, and a stuffed banana pepper version, each coming with their own individual sauce. They were all fantastic. I really enjoyed the banana pepper one. The service was friendly. They deliver on Uber eats. And they are open at the market during market hours. I cannot wait to go back and eat more of their tasty pierogi- next up is going to the dessert version for us I think! read more

I can not say enough good things about Babcias Pierogi! Getting into the buffalo spirit of Easter I took a trip to the broadway market. After walking around for a hour or so I decided I could not leave without buying some pierogis to take home. I came across a lovely woman that was selling Babcias Pierogi, ended up buying 4 bags! So my church paired up with Babcia's to offer pierogi during this virus. Great idea I thought. Church would make some money as well. I placed an order for pierogi, golumbki, bbq burgers, lazy pierogi. I have not tried the pierogi yet but everything else was pretty yuck. They errored and gave me extra bbq burgers instead of my golumbki. The burgers were kind of nasty. They simply had a small amount of sauce simply placed on top, ( maybe a 1/2 teaspoon if that) so they were dry and tastless-- not true bbq burgers cooked in sauce. We had the stuffed jalapeño pierogi. The worst pierogi I've ever had. Dough was like cardboard and filling was completely tasteless.

Babcias Pierogis are amazing. Lots of different flavours, all good, all delicious, all full of love, and wrapped up in a tasty dough. I've had the pleasure of having lived in Poland & Germany, and while over there, I became addicted to Piergoi. They're so easy to find over there - little stands all over Krakow and Warsaw where for less than the equivalent of $5 you can get half a dozen tasty pierogi with all different types of fillings and tada, lunch/dinner is served! So upon moving back to the US, I started craving for Pierogi. Frozen Mrs.T's Pierogis just weren't doing it for me, so I started hunting around. You can imagine my horror at going to a place like Ru's on Niagara Street and shelling out nearly $20 for the same thing that cost me $5 in Krakow. But I'm not in Poland, so I chalked it up to being on the wrong side of the ocean. I did sample a few other local brands that I found in a few of the local grocery stores, but I wasn't happy with what I found. All of them came pre-boiled, which warped their taste and texture. In my quest for pierogi, I went down to the Broadway market - it's the center of polish culture here in Buffalo, so SURELY Pieorgi will be found! And alas I was right! Babcias Pierogis are amazing. Overflowing with stuffing (which can be a bit of a problem when you're trying to pan fry them) with a stable but delicate enough dough (it's not like you're chewing through a pizza crust). I felt like I was back in Poland. It was a great find. The staff/owners are really nice and actually seem to want to make sure you're happy with your purchase. Thanks Babcia :) Also, on a side note, in Poland the frozen Pierogis that are made in some wonderful grandmother's kitchen and that are sold in quaint marketplaces in the city centre are NEVER precooked. You really don't want to buy pre-boiled frozen Pierogi (as I found out the hard way, that's the trend over here). It adds a lot of water weight, and it tends to ruin the texture in the final product when you go to reheat it. It'd be like pre-boiling spaghetti, freezing it, and then recooking it. Yech. I don't care what any vendor tells you, don't buy it pre-cooked. read more

My family purchased stuffed pepper and farmer cheese pierogies from the stand at the broadway market. The lady at the stand said that these pierogis were the best in Western New York. We've never had Babcias Pierogi's before and I must say we were extremely disappointed. We cooked them up for Easter Dinner and I would have to say that these pierogis ruined the rest of my dinner. We fried them in butter and with onion and when we bit into them and it was like the dough tasted like we were eating a pie. The filling for the farmers cheese pierogis wasn't sweet and it was really watery. Im having a hard time understanding to how they are entered into the Buffalo Pierogi Fest this year.
