two pieces of sushi on a white plate

The food was so good! Service was a little slow, we weren't able to get refills on waters for a while, but the food was just so good! The drinks were also quite good! The gluten free options were slightly limited (a lot of their specialty rolls had tempura in them), but they had gluten free soy sauce! The sensory experience was great, it wasn't too loud and the tables weren't too close together, and there were plenty of options for simple possible safe foods, so I would say it is autistic approved!

Our party of four (plus an eight-month-old) were getting very hungry as we finished walking around Sturbridge Village. We hoped to dine outside on this beautiful day, and after Yelping the options in Sturbridge, we selected Baba Sushi (there is also a Baba Sushi in Worcester, which is pronounced "Woostah" if you're indigenous to the area!). It was quiet at Baba, as we arrived too late for lunch and too early for dinner, so we scored a great table on their beautiful porch. Though the porch does face Route 20, we didn't find the noise to be problematic. For our appetizers we ordered Gyoza (very good, but not very hot), Vegetable Tempura (very tasty) and Edamame which was also good. We also tried the Kani Salad and the Sashimi Tartare. Both were very good, and the tartare was an impressively large portion of salmon and tuna sushi with avocado and mango. It supposedly included caviar, but I failed to see any in the dish. And we sampled the Salmon Sashimi, a Peacock Maki Roll and Sushi Sandwich Roll. The Salmon Sashimi was very good, and though I was not a fan of the Peacock Roll, another diner greatly enjoyed it. The Sushi Sandwich Roll was good, but not outstanding. The Tryaki Chicken was tender and tasty and the Fried Rice was light and nicely prepared. All the diners (except the eight-month-old who was more interested in dropping things on the floor than participating in a Yelp review discussion) thought Baba deserved four-stars for this visit. Service was excellent throughout the dinner, and we'd be happy to revisit Baba Sushi.

I've been to this location, twice. The parking is valet, and they ask for cash tips or venmo. The walk in front of the building is beautiful. Positives- I've only been here for Hot Pot, Sushi, and Appetizers. The Vegetable Platter in the Party of 2 is a huge portion for two people, the sushi is wonderful, It is easy to customize your options, and the staff is very nice. Negatives- It's expensive, and I don't think the desserts are worth the cost. The smaller tables are not enough room for all of the toppings, vegetables and meats (server had to bring us a tray to use beside our table). It took about 45 minutes for us to even receive any part of our order both times and it was not that busy.

Always the freshest most tasteful ingredients. Service is always with a smile and you are treated like a VIP. Hot pot is the most reasonably priced.

Went here for our anniversary and it was a total blast! We did the hot pot and it was so interactive and fun. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back.

Great oysters for appetizer!!! Fresh oysters and the sauce that came with complimented well!!! Shrimp tempura maki was very yummy and $7 for sake (salmon) 4 pieces of sashimi also delicious!!! Tobiko nigiri was alright, the seaweed was a bit soggy! I prefer a better quality of Nori!! More crunchy :) Would definitely come back on Friday night because they have live band playing upstairs!!

deluxe for 2 meats

We ordered the deluxe hotpot for 2, but it was more than enough for our family consisting of 3 adults and a teen. Our server, Anthony, was so friendly and patient explaining how to do everything and all the various choices. It was a delicious and fun experience! Compared to other places I researched, this was the most reasonably priced hotpot place around and it did not disappoint at all! Will definitely be back.

Shannon gave us great suggestions and was so friendly. We don't live in the area/state but I will go out of my way to come back if we're ever close. Kaizen handled an extremely uncomfortable situation professionally, and I want to share what we…read morepersonally witnessed. My significant other and I have been going to Kaizen for years and have consistently had wonderful experiences. The food is always amazing, and the staff have always been polite, helpful and hardworking. Last night was no different with our own experience. We were seated near a party of three who eventually became involved with management and police. There was a party of approximately eight beside them and another of approximately six behind them, diagonally from us. That's only a fraction of the tables Kaizen was serving that Tuesday night. We had a clear, front-row view and could hear much of what happened. The situation was uncomfortable before management ever became involved. The way the gentleman and his party spoke to the server and her trainee, who was also serving us, was extremely rude and disrespectful. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and honestly cannot remember hearing guests speak to employees this way. At one point, the gentleman got up and walked over to the trainee while she was holding his food and bringing it to them, demanding to know where his food was. We could clearly see she was literally on her way to deliver it. Kaizen is a small, fine-dining, made-to-order Asian restaurant with a sushi bar. THIS ISN'T FAST FOOD. Different dishes take different amounts of time, especially when the restaurant is busy. The staff were clearly working extremely hard. Our server was also training a new employee. Despite everything happening around her, she remained calm, kind, polite and helpful. She even explained how we could order one of our favorite dishes differently in the future to save us money. She wasn't upselling us; she was looking out for us as customers. One of the other people in the party mentioned having 10-36 years of restaurant-industry experience. If you've spent that much time in restaurants, you know what it's like to be the employee dealing with an impatient table, busy kitchen, delayed orders and frustrated customers. That experience should give you more empathy and respect for restaurant employees, not less. If you claim you've never dealt with situations like this, that's either false or you've never worked in the restaurant industry. When the manager came over, she was calm, kind and professional. The gentleman immediately became rude and began yelling at her. She calmly told him she understood he was upset, but asked him not to yell or continue using inappropriate language. She explained that if it continued, she would have to ask him to leave. His response was essentially challenging her to do exactly that. Management continued trying to resolve the situation and even comped their entire bill. Eventually, police arrived and asked the party to leave. There was discussion about trespassing them if they refused, and their response was essentially, "Go ahead." Police then told them they could continue the conversation outside, but they needed to leave the restaurant. They finally went outside, and we witnessed the gentleman remain confrontational even after police became involved. As customers sitting nearby, we were extremely uncomfortable. We were there for our own dinner and date night, and their attitude and disrespect nearly ruined our evening. Once they were outside, the atmosphere immediately returned to normal. If you're expecting made-to-order food at a small, fine-dining restaurant within a specific amount of time, there are plenty of options designed around speed and predictability--McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's or an Asian buffet. Kaizen isn't that kind of restaurant. You don't have to like the wait, but you do have to treat the people serving you with basic respect. I've worked in the restaurant industry and understand that mistakes happen, orders get delayed and kitchens get busy. I also understand that the person serving you is a human being doing their job. From what we personally witnessed, Kaizen's staff and management handled an extremely uncomfortable situation professionally and appropriately. They didn't create the situation. They dealt with it. My significant other and I have been customers for years and will continue to be. We've consistently received great food and great service, and last night's experience only reinforced our opinion of Kaizen. The employees deserved patience and respect, and from where we were sitting, they showed considerably more of both than the party giving them a hard time.

There's six available sauces and my favorites was the meat heat and catchup. I wanted to try a few of the meats and got the meat platter with pulled pork, brisket and ribs. For $35, I think the portions were generous and I got mac & cheese and potato salad for sides. The mac & cheese to me is better than other places. We waited nearly an hour and a half for our meals, which was absolutely insane and I can't justify giving it full stars for that reason alone, but also for the cleanliness of the tables and cups. The food itself was actually really delicious. The brisket was fatty, and had a great smoky flavor however was a bit on the salty side. The cucumber salad was vinegary and refreshing while the Mac and cheese was creamy and saucy. Overall great meal and good portions for the 25$ price point.

The Fried Rice was also tasty, but very salty. The Scallion Pancakes were crispy and nicely cooked, we really liked these. And the Gyoza was very tasty, but should have been crisper. Overall, a very enjoyable "Linner" and a 4-star dining experience. I would return here if in the area.
