I ran in here to place an order to go. The place is very small and every table was taken. I think I came at a good time though because people seemed to be finishing up and the place was preparing for another wave of people coming. When I first placed my order, the lady informed me that it was going to be a bit of a wait, but then realized I was just getting a few rolls and she was able to get my order in and get me out within 20 minutes. She was really nice. The sushi was pretty good. I ordered a rainbow roll, tuna, avocado roll, Toro scallion roll, and another role that I'm not sure the name of but it had this wasabi tobiko on top. I am not a huge sushi fan per se but this place was absolutely PHENOMENAL! The sushi was exceptional, fresh, and the portions were huge. Add in the fact that it is BYOB and there is a great liquor store right around the corner. This is really an unbelievable spot. The meal we had for 2 would have been $500 in Boston. Looked for a place about halfway between Somerville, Massachusetts and Glastonbury Connecticut and came across this highly rated sushi restaurant. Made a reservation and glad that I did because it is a small and very popular place to eat. There seemed to be more people with reservations thanthere were tables so I'm glad we got there a few minutes before the people behind us, as we snagged the last table. They were out of several key items so were not serving the Omakase that everybody raves about so we ordered a few rolls and a variety of the sushi that they did have. I am in agreement with other reviewers that this is among the best sushi in the area. The service was quite good and the food was excellent. The uni was absolutely outstanding. The major drawback was the popularity. There were so many people waiting for tables that they seemed reluctant to serve us dessert and more tea even though we had not been there that long. Having driven far to get there and wanted to visit with my son, we were not prepared to leave so quickly. By the restaurant's perspective, I fully understand, wanting to turn over the tables so we finished quickly and departed. I will definitely return and hopefully be able to sample the omakase. Everything was excellent! Omakase set has 10 pieces of nigiri, my favorites were the botan shrimp, toro tuna, sea beam, hamachi, scallop and maguro (tuna). Salmon was ok. My least fav was surfing clam. Love their unagi nigiri too. Worcester roll and hamachi jalapeño maki tasted kinda similar, the rolls are great, not too saucey so that u can really taste the ingredients!!! Chu toro was awesome. Hamachi, Ikura and scallop nigiri were super fresh! Best sushi in town! They really serve traditional authentic Japanese food. Sushi rice has great balanced flavor of vinegary and sweetness. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly, you can feel the texture of every grain. I have been craving for some traditional rolls like ume shiso!!! Was so happy to get them here!!! Also this restaurant served purple sweet potato tempura! They are delicious! The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Service can be a bit slow at times. Be sure to make reservations coz the place could only fit so many ppl. 5 at the bar, and four tables of four. Be prepared to wait for a bit if you walk in to order take out. Nothing more to say that others haven't. This is by far the best sushi I've had in a long time. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Three hungry dads ate two aps and six specialty rolls. The fish was all fresh and the flavors were fantastic. Rather than everything at once, the plates were flowed out of the kitchen in a nice progressive manner. Since it's BYOB, we brought beer and were provided chilled glasses by the waitstaff. Also, they were happy to split the bill three ways. Will be back again soon. read more

This sushi restaurant is amazing. The closest to authentic Japanese sushi you'll find in Worcester. The staff are friendly and the sushi chef is very nice. This is a hole in the wall restaurant with not much seating. There's a big parking lot. It's BYOB, so make sure to stop by the liquor store and grab a bottle of sake! My friend and I were the last ones left in the restaurant and the sushi chef kindly shared his hot sake with us. The sashimi is cut so amazingly that it melts in your mouth. The tataki (comes with ponzu sauce) and toro rolls were amazing and I can't wait to try more of their rolls next time. The rice to fish ratio is really good here. I'm a huge fan of hand rolls and they make it so delicious here so that you have sashimi in every bite even down to the bottom of the hand roll. The mochi ice cream is also very delicious. Amazing sushi! I knew this place would not disappoint after reading all their reviews. As soon as we walked in, the chefs and staff greeted us. I knew from there, that it was going to be a good meal. We ordered a bunch of rolls and it was all amazing. My favorite was the Christmas roll because the flavors all bursts into your mouth in one bite with fun textures. The dragon roll was very refreshing with the jalapeño topping with just enough kick. The asparagus and shiitake roll was reminiscent of a Korean gimbap roll. It was good but I will probably not order again because all the other sushi rolls were so amazing. The atmosphere is fun and vibrant. It was the perfect place for a foodie to celebrate a congratulatory dinner! :) this is going to be my go-to sushi spot from now on. They just earned another two loyal customers. read more

Came after someone recommended this place since it's run by actual Japanese people, including the sushi chef. It's quite hidden and overshadowed by another restaurant adjacent to it, Nancy Chang's. They don't take reservations but the waitress mentioned to call ahead when we are closer and she could save us a seat if it is available, which was what we did. We didn't have to wait that long even though it was a full house since there were 3 tables of people leaving fortunately. We received the regular menu and the daily special which changes everyday depending on what fish they get delivered literally from Japan's famous fish market, Tsukiji. We decided to go with the omakase, which the chef decides what sushi he will make taking into account what we kind of seafood we like or dislike, allergies etc. The waitress also mentions authentic traditional style, onigiri type, fish on bed of rice or more American style, rolls with sauces etc. Of course, we tried the most authentic way since the chef is trained from Japan! The minimum of an omakase is $35 but we choose to do $40. I was a little afraid that I would not be full since the seafood pieces I ordered are usually expensive (sea urchin, scallop, fatty tuna etc). The server couldn't really specify how many pieces you'd get since it all depends on what seafood is chosen based on what you like. On top of that we tried the special ankimo which is monkfish liver as recommended by the waitress as a daily special. When the omakase came, the waitress explained what each piece was and what makes it special. We had about 8 pieces of onigiri which I was surprised since I choose expensive seafood, along with an appetizer course. The pieces were generous portions too, you get what you pay for. Note, every omakase comes with different portions depending on the price point you are comfortable with and what seafood you like. For example the table next to us chose the $35 omakase and while it seemed like they had more pieces of sushi, the selection was safer and more conventional. I highly recommend dipping the sushi in soy sauce only on the end part of the fish so you can fully taste each piece of fish. Then use the ginger to cleanse the palate so you can prep for the next sushi. I've lived in Japan for a while and this reminded me of the sushi there in terms of quality, authenticity, and hospitality. Another great thing is that you can BYOB, which makes it an even better value. I would highly recommend Sushi Miyazawa to anyone in the Worcester area, it's definitely worth the trip. read more

I went here when they first opened and the sushi did not seem fresh. So I never went back. I tried again last night and couldn't even stomach the sushi. Had two and had to leave the rest. They chop the fish into many pieces and slap it on top in the middle. I have no idea why they do this. And they put weird stuffing inside the roll so it is crunchy and sweet. Jalapeño was not fresh. From the pics on yelp, seems there is inconsistency; at least it did not match what I got. I prefer more authentic sushi. This place is amazing. It truly is the most authentic sushi restaurant I have been to in New England. To begin, it is located in a nice brick building with parking so you don't need to search or pay for street parking. The hostess/waitress is very friendly and nice. I appreciate that there is a sign in wait list and you can sit in the indoor tables outside while contemplating what you want to order. This place is also BYOB so remember to bring a nice authentic bottle or cup of Sake or a Asahi beer to pair with the sushi to get the most out of your experience. I ordered the nigiri omakase. It was very good. I was very impressed with the quality and the freshness of the fish. Not only the the sushi chef meticulously craft each delicate piece, he made it into a work of art. The sushi chefs were very nice and authentically Japanese. 5/5 stars in my opinion. You know that it's an awesome restaurant when you see a waitlist when you walk in the door! I will be coming back very soon! To sum it all up, this place does amazing work. I've traveled the world, lived in Japan, NYC, LA and even Boston; I have to say that the quality and taste of this sushi can rival that of a competitive restaurant in Japan and New York.
