The restaurant was busy, but we were seated quickly, and the service was fast too. Restaurant felt super cozy and the cherry blossoms were a nice touch. I ordered Chicken Tempura with a side of vegetables and an Avocado Roll, while my friend got Sushi and Crab Rangoon. The sushi and Crab Rangoon were both great, but unfortunately, the Chicken Tempura was a letdown. The chicken was bland and had to chew, and the vegetables (which were fried, not what I expected for a "healthy" side) were also flavorless. I have been going here since I was in the womb, this place is never too busy and you can actually hear your conversations. Some might say that's bad because they don't get a lot of business but that's because everyone is over at the newer, Sawa which if you ask me is terrible! There you can hear yourself think and they are always pushing for you to get the most expensive stuff and rushing you. Not here take your time and order what you want. Your standard teppanyaki restaurant. The table chef had a great show. Cooked the food as ordered. Sushi wasn't bad, but you'd don't usually go for the sushi. Only complaint was the fried rice. My palate was missing the carrots and peas which help to make it a fried rice. It was also a little bland, could have used a little more salt or soy sauce it was cooked on the flat top. At this time, Osaka remains a takeout only venue. I dined here often in the PP (Pre-Pandemic) era, but this was my first visit in 15 months. I ordered two sashimi appetizers to go, my order was taken promptly, and it only took them 9-minutes to complete the order. The Sashimi Appetizer included 6 large slices of sashimi which consisted of salmon, tuna and yellow tail. The yellow tail was excellent, the salmon and tuna were both good. One piece of salmon had a texture that was too chewy. Standard sides accompanied the dish, some cucumber slices, ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. There was not much of a show at all. Yes there was the usual beginning of trying to catch zucchini in all of our mouths, a pretty pitiful display of the onion volcano, but that was it, no more show. Same lack of show at other tables with other chefs, so it wasn't just ours. Food was pretty plain, bland. A lot of me adding salt soy sauce. Best birthday dinner ever! From start to finish was great! The salad was delicious especially the dressing! The miso soup is also delicious. The owners/employees are very nice! I found this establishment to be very comforting immediately upon entering. They really did a great job on the openness of the design and the lighting. The long classy bar integrates so well with the layout. Add to that the friendly and welcoming attitude of the staff, who really must be all family, as they treat each other, and this customer like one. There is always plenty of seating at the bar as 99% of the business here is Hibachi. The bar service is always great. Just as we walked in we were immediately greeted by a young lady who was very friendly and polite. She walked us to our table which was a bit sticky, but we still loved it because we were the only ones sitting there and it felt private. Pretty average at best. The service was not bad. She brought me the wrong beer, but then upon opening the bottle she was like "Oops" and didn't charge me. The points were lost on two accounts: 1. For sushi, it's okay. Ordered spicy tuna and rainbow roll, the spicy tuna just had a ton of spicy mayo on top. Was so much that couldn't even taste the tuna. Complete meals, combos and sushi with double salads and no soup on three out of the five meals.........Everything was cooked perfectly, on time, and with a smile under their masks. I was extremely impressed and thankful that everything was expertly marked and identified so we all knew immediately which meal was ours. And the best part was all the extra sauces they included. AMAZING food! All the employees are respectful, fun, and polite. The wait isn't too bad most of the time but can be a bit long. It's worth it at the end of the day. The hibachi experience is incredible and always fun for a date, family dinner, or just with friends. They do cool tricks with fire and you get to try to catch zucchini in your mouth. I've been going here since I was very little and it's my family's favorite place to eat. I took my boyfriend on a date here and he had a great time. DONT GO TO OSAKA!! Why you may ask? Hmm the new "owner" is TRASH. The way she treats her regular weekly customers is DISGUSTING. I would never treat my customers the same way. This owner double charged my work lunch, so I gave them a call to inform her TWO weeks ago and she said she would reimburse. She never reimbursed, after calling multiple times during the two weeks, and arguing with me throughout the entire conversations. I even showed her that she did not reimburse me with bank statements, but she claims she did. She showed me the reimburmemt, but guess what! It wasn't my card. So you're welcome to whoever got money back on their card. Finally today after asking for her to reimburse for a final time before giving up, she told me to never come back to her restaurant because I cause too many problems. Not just the sushi (which is so freaking good too) but we had the scallops and filet mignon hibachi, and holy cow, the cook on the beef AND the scallops was absolute perfection. The flavors were on point. The sushi chef prepared us a roll from His own imagination and blew me and my boyfriend, totally out of the water. I come here just for the dragon roll ad I've yet to eat another, so delicious. Our waiter was seriously the best. He had recommendations and was polite, attentive, and had a great attitude towards his job. We had a great time at Hibatchi tonight! Great food and overall value. We made a reservation for 7. There we 2 adults and 5 kids (3 mine). I decided Hibatichi would be a great experience for a birthday so pretty much all of them had never been. They were loud, but I went at 5pm. We had a whole table/Hibatchi grill to ourselves. Our waiter was great and really patient with my son who has Aspergers, he was upbeat with our mostly boy crowd. We spent over 100 bucks, but the kids meal were under 10 buck each. They didn't blink when we asked for plates for our cake. They brought over a knife and even the hostess ran out because one of the boys left a sweatshirt. As a Japanese, this place's sushi are the worst. I could eat rolls but nigiri is just bad. Fish isn't fresh at all and especially rice... I've never had such bad sushi in my life. Only thing that I enjoyed was water. They shouldn't put sushi bar in the restaurant's name. And the service is also bad. They weren't polite and their face looks hassle. Eh. I've been life long Worcester resident for a while. I do Kyoto here and there and me and the girls went to Osaka tonight. We were ordering drinks left and right and food as we pleased. The older woman who was our server Came over and was literally hovering over us as we left a tip. Like says, we are going to leave you a good tip if he would just leave us alone. I am OBSESSED with sushi. I crave it ALL THE TIME, and on some nights i even dream about it. And i've never had bad sushi (well except for the stuff they sell at the super market). I've never had bad sushi so I never fully appreciated the good sushi I've always eaten . . . that is, until now. Everyone talks about the quality of the sushi and I figure, as long as it's all sashimi grade fish, what's the difference? ohhhh, there's a difference all right. I came here for my sushi fix because it was a budget friendly alternative to places like Haiku, Baba sushi, and Zipango that offer nigiri (2 pieces of fish on rice) for about $5.75 a pop. This place was more decently priced at $4.25 each. And they had a great deal of 7 pieces of sushi for $10!!!! AWESOME! Anyway, my friend and I went and I got my sushi appetizer (which unfortunately is chef's choice - i didn't get to choose which sushi i wanted). I ended up with a plate of salmon, tuna x 2, white tuna, mackerel, shrimp, and squid. I'd never had the squid, white tuna and mackerel before so i was happy to try them. and now i know i won't be ordering them again. the squid was super chewy and the white tuna and mackerel had a stringy quality that didn't allow me to bite the fish cleanly. weird. the tuna was fine and so was the salmon, but they didn't have that melt in your mouth quality that i'm used to. i guess i know why this place is so affordable. so now i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. do i spend a lot of money on better sushi less often, or do i spend less money on okay sushi more often? considering i have dreams of sushi, i'll probably be back. but this time i'm ordering what i want! read more
