Came here for appetizers/drinks after visiting a nearby winery. I'd love to come back for a full meal, I am very intrigued by their menu. I ordered the cucumber-elderflower gimlet. It was great and fresh! For the appetizer, I ordered the crispy falafel with the cucumber salad. It was tasty! Very garlicy so bring a breath mint. It felt like plenty of food for the price. Something to note for vegans/dairy free people: there is a lot of things on there menu that are marked vegan but...I'm pretty sure aren't. My falafel dish had tzatziki sauce for example and I don't think it was dairy free yogurt. Several of the menu items were marked vegan but say they have labneh on it which I looked it up and that's a strained yogurt. I didn't ask--my bad--but I did notice it. read more

Overpriced and underwhelming. Our bill came to $127 before the tip was added. We ordered the grilled chicken, Kafka kabob and grilled salmon. Every dish was overcooked even after asking for the salmon the be undercooked (medium). Normally overcooked rice gets mushy however they left it cooking so long that it became hard again! The mezza plate at $29 is a joke!! It was terrible, the flavors were off and did not compliment each other. The pita it came with was very very thick and sour. It's like the dough was old and became sour. This may be on purpose but I have never had sour dough pita bread. The baklava was $12 and not worth it. Do yourself a favor and you tube any dish you think you may want to try here and cook it yourself!! The ingredients would cost a lot less, the food will be so much better and it can be a cooking experience you share with a loved one! I hope Costco stops selling this brands gift cards. We bought $300 in gift cards, have been to 3 of the locations and the food has been lacking at every location (honey, republic tap house and baba). Our praises are mostly for our waitress, Kess. She was so knowledgeable of the menu and type of food. For someone who hadn't had Mediterranean food, I asked a lot of questions and she delivered. I've been back multiple times since my first review. It is my new favorite restaurant! It is still a little bold for the small kids (although they LOVE the brown sugar ice cream), but as someone who loves interesting, well-rounded flavors and textures- this place is perfect. Spokane's BEST pita bread. Delicious and unusual cocktails, fantastic happy hour prices and small plates so you can try a lot, and still don't need a nap afterwards. The gentleman server with arm tattoos (didn't catch his name) has been spot-on with timing and accommodating our requests. Great for vegetarians especially! read more

Covid time review: I had been lukewarm on the predecessor to Baba by the same owner at the same location, Wandering Table, but had been intrigued by the Mediterranean-inspired-appearing menu when walking by it in the busy and popular Kendall Yards area. One beautiful sunny day, I got an outdoor table with a girlfriend for happy hour (3-5pm). Baba is on the north side of Summit Pkwy, so while you do not get a coveted view of the Spokane River from your table, there is still very good people (and puppy) watching while you dine or drink. We had no wait on a weekday afternoon. The Baba staff are friendly, all wear masks, and hand sanitizer is provided. There are a few 2- and 4-tops for outdoor seating, out on the sidewalk alongside the outdoor dining for the diner next door. The happy hour menu is fantastic and between the two of us much of it was sampled. It is small plate comfort food for sharing. I took photos of the first plate that came out and then subsequent items were gobbled up immediately. :) We shared the Deviled Eggs ($3 for 2 halves), Honey-Labneh Cheese Dip ($4), Eggplant Fries ($5), Pan-Seared Falafel ($6), and Dungeness Crab-Potato Latke ($7), which left us both very satisfied and full. For drinks, I had a skinny mule and my friend a glass of white wine. The food was SO tasty. Of everything we got, I would return again and again for all of it but the falafel, which was indeed the requisite crispiness on the outside but did crumble apart when cut into and was a little too wet on the inside albeit with really fresh flavors--maybe I didn't prefer it because it tasted *healthier* than the falafel I tend to crave. The deviled eggs were supremely creamy with their lovely tahini flavor, the honey labneh cheese dip perfectly balanced between rich creaminess and honey sweetness with warmed soft pita, the dungeness crab latke flavorful and with excellent sear. I have to say their house labneh is pretty special. We both love eggplant so the eggplant fries were delightful to us--they were cut thick, so nicely seasoned with the tiniest bit of heat, and with a crunchy batter. Yum. Having had such a nice happy hour experience, I brought hubby back to Baba for dinner on a later night. While very similar menu items were available in larger servings for expectedly higher prices, the same foods didn't quite taste the same, and I don't have an explanation for that. The flavors were blander and maybe the higher cheque at the end of the evening dampened the overall effect. We notably shared the Coriander Grilled Tuna Skewers ($16), which had generous pieces of albacore that were nicely marinated but turned out on the dry side. The dinner menu does however have dessert items that are not available at happy hour, several of which look very worthy of returning for. So my review is 5 stars for happy hour and 4 stars for dinner. read more

My wife and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and were quickly seated by a very friendly hostess. While there were some open tables, there was quite a good crowd for a Sunday around 1 PM. The restaurant was clean, and the decor and color scheme was very light and unique. We enjoyed three items on the menu: -Fried feta -sweet-and-sour fried cauliflower -rosewater raspberry ice cream All three items were absolutely amazing. As a Middle Easterner, I often long for desserts, especially ice cream, with rosewater, and this did not disappoint. We've had fried feta at the White House Grill before, but this blew their version out of the water. Baba's fried feta was much creamier, had an excellent batter, and paired very well with the fruit mixture that was served with it. The sweet-and-sour fried cauliflower was excellent. Each bite was different, but in a really good way. Such unique flavors that was hard to pinpoint but absolutely delicious. We were very impressed with our first visit here, and it is definitely a restaurant we will come back to again. We are excited to try the other dishes on the menu, but we will definitely be ordering the fried feta again. Bravo! read more

Went to Baba with some friends and really enjoyed our experience there. The location in Kendal Yards is great and the restaurant is easy to get too. Inside there is a mix of high top and standard height tables for you to choose. The food is pure Mediterranean and very good. I had Hummus with Tahini for an appetizer and Clams with Lamb as a main dish. They also have a nice wine by the bottle list, but limited on the by the glass options. Wait staff was on point even though it was very busy. Will definitely dine here again! read more

My wife and I stopped in here today for the first time. This is a new restaurant; things are new and updated. We were greeted by friendly staff, Covid-19 protocols were in place. Mary had a soft drink and I order one of their specialty beverages a Za'atar, bourbon, orange liqueur, spice, bitters, and burled orange, very tasty. We started with Fried olives, breaded and fried olives with chermoula sauce and yogurt, these were very tasty; this is a substantial number of olives, enough for multiple folks. We also tried the Eggplant Fries, my wife order these; I have never liked eggplant, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good these were. We shared the Turkish Mac n' Cheese, shell pasta, pistachio, labneh cheese sauce, breadcrumbs with brown butter and dukkah, with fermented chilies; this was a tasty dish, but the cheese sauce was a little bland for my taste. We finished our meal with the Honey-Walnut Baklava, served with cinnamon ice cream, delicious. You should get in here and give this place a try. read more

Happy hour is five stars!! I wasn't able to try any drinks because I'm pregnant (although they do have some mocktails on the menu), but the food was SO DELICIOUS. There are tons of small plates on the happy hour menu that can be shared and range from $4-$12ish. The hummus with tahini was some of my favorite hummus I've had and our whole group agreed that the honey-labenah cheese dip was the star of the whole meal. I didn't love the French garlic dip as much as the other two. Served with fresh perfectly baked pita bread with olive oil. Another dish we tried was the sweet and sour cauliflower. I loved the texture of this dish, but felt mediocre about the sauce. Still worth trying though! Fried olives were another favorite of the meal, and the feta garlic bread was yummy as well. The more expensive items on the happy hour menu that we tried were the meatballs and the clam and lamb (still only $8-$12). I really liked the tzaziki sauce that came with the meatballs. And the clam/lamb was definitely worth getting as well. We finished off with the baklava with cinnamon ice cream which was the perfect way to end the meal! Overall, this place has a great atmosphere, excellent service, smells delicious when you walk in, and has a really inexpensive and delicious happy hour. But the food was.....extremely salty and my hubby who actually like saltier side of food couldn't eat it. I am yet again astounded with the food in Spokane. I grew up in a small town with many businesses owned by Mediterranean families, and was spoiled with authentic food- so my bar is high. Baba not only impressed me with the earthy and cool atmosphere, with the service from our server (Korey?) but the food was truly to die for. One of the best middle eastern I have eaten so far in the US. As a group of 2 , I and my husband ordered : deviled eggs, pearl mushroom souvlaki, crispy falafel and the sweet and sour cauliflower. I also ordered sides of shoug sauce, garlic toum and pita bread. Every dish was on point in terms of flavor, portion size and freshness. Really tough to decide a favorite. The flavor combinations worked really well and the modern touch to the classical Mediterranean food was implemented very well - welcoming and didn't make the dish too alien! Truly a gem , we would definitely be coming back to try rest of the vegetarian things on the menu (please note all vegetarians!) read more

Baba has my favorite brunch item in town on their menu: the Wild Mushroom Omelet with herbs, chevre and chermoula. Every time that I've had it, it's been wonderful except for the last time that we were there. I'm not sure what happened, but the mushrooms were rubbery - they chewed like bubble gum and after enough chewing, I had only the option to swallow them whole. What I suspect is that the mushrooms that were in that omelet were dehydrated and rehydrated for use in the omelet. This is a shame. read more

Ordered the cauliflower dish through Grubhub. It was $17 on the menu and $30 to get to my door. Literally 5pieces of cauliflower!!! For $17 I guess I expected a good sized portion.
