Place is small but comfortable. I was brought here for a business meeting and I overate! lol. Service is fast & good. Everything here is flavorful not in an overwhelming way. We did not order a lot but we still did not finish it; its a must try!

I was craving sour fish soup and this place hit the spot! Be prepared to wait though as they are a small but popular place. We got the signature soup with fish and meat. Next time I would recommend just fish as the meat is nothing special. It comes with a serving of rice on the side. The side dishes were all alright.. kinda bland if you ask me. Loved the mochi dessert at the end though! So soft and milky with the perfect sweetness. 4 stars because I've had better sour fish in flushing and the side dishes were under flavored.

The fish came out piping hot. Flavor was really good. Can choose add on's to the soup. Will recommend!

Amazing suan cai yu!!!!!! I cannot say how much I love this fish! So yummy. It's super spicy super sour super good. It comes with a little bit of glass noodle, tofu skin, bean sprouts, and more inside the soup. You don't really need to add anything to the soup I will comment on the packaging for the takeout. It's amazing! Super innovative. They pour your left over soup into this tin and have a secure rope around it to pick it up. It fits the generous amount of soup that it comes with and is easy to reheat on the stove top. Just pop the lid off and heat on the stove. Ambience was very nice. Incredibly clean location and the staff is very accommodating.

Combo for 1 is $29.99 with choice of 2 sides, steamed rice, and 1 included appetizer.

We came by for an early Saturday dinner and had a short 15-20 min wait. The restaurant is small and cozy but service is fairly quick. We tried two different fish/beef pots - the signature and the spicy Szechuan. The signature was a sour broth with a little bit of spice. The Szechuan was extremely spicy. The fish and beef were thing cut and absorbed the flavor of the soup. The sides were probably my favorite. The spicy chicken had great seasoning and you can't go wrong with fried chicken wings and pork belly!

Ambiance is small & compact. Not a good place if you have more than party of 6. 3/5 Food is one on point for spicy fish hotpot but they run out of beef on Easter Sunday. Side dishes are well executed with chicken feet, chicken & deep fried rice dough. Food 4/5. Service is okay but expensive for small portion of protein with a lot broth. 3/5

I've dined here a few times in the last few months, and while their fish soup is good, their small dishes can be a hit or miss. You can select the size of your fish soup (small, medium, or large pot), the flavor (signature spicy sour flavor (classic or numbing version), spicy, or tomato), and your protein (fish only, beef only, or fish & beef). My favorite so far has been the numbing version of their signature spicy soup. The base of the fish soup does not come with many ingredients except for some tofu, so be sure to order a few add-ons. + Free milk mochi dessert for sharing their restaurant with 2 friends

One of my new favorite Chinese restaurants in New Jersey!!! Not a huge space so make sure to come early, you will definitely want to eat your fish soup fresh out the kitchen because that's when it's the tastiest. Giant portion of pickled fish soup - it's sour and tangy and so so good. The fish itself is also super fresh and you can soak up the rest of the broth with rice after you finish eating the contents. Super fast service and the waiters are sweet. You can get a free dessert if you refer friends and the homemade mochi is actually fantastic. It's soft and melts in your mouth but not too sweet, and the flakes on top add some nice texture. Can't wait to go back, I love you B2J!!

First time here and it's delicious! We had a group of four but the portions looked generous so we got a combo for 3. There was plenty of food and all four of us were full! You can pick 3 add-ons for the soup in addition to your choice of broth and protein (fish, beef, or fish and beef combo), plus 3 side dishes. For dessert, we got their house made milk mochi. It was my first time trying milk mochi! The bits on top are like a crushed vanilla wafer cookie. So yummy.

This is a no frills fish soup spot! The portions are large and quickly fills up the small tables. The wait isn't too long for a table since everyone eats fairly fast. For sides, I liked the pickled chicken gizzard - it was spicy and crunchy. The crispy fish skin can be passed on, the novelty is lost after a few pieces. The fish itself is tender and it comes with a lot of sauerkraut. However, despite the amount of peppercorns and chili peppers, it didn't have much of a kick and was more sour. Next time, I will need to get a higher spice level than medium.

I've gone to B2J multiple times with various friends and we've loved the experience every time! The soup is so filling with your choice of fish, beef, or both and then any additional toppings. The spice is definitely a kick but the tomato soup option is also a good choice for a sweeter base. The appetizers that we've tried are the fried chinese buns, fried dough sticks, and pork belly which are all great. Their new crispy fish skin was extremely crispy and a bit oily but delicious when dunked in the soup. The service is pretty prompt and the employees are always so happy and eager to greet you! The best part of the meal is the mochi dessert that you can get at the end which is the most refreshing way to end a delicious meal.

Classic spicy & sour flavor is made with Chinese pickled cabbage. The fish is really flavorful. Small size is enough for two people.

The soup dumplings are a MUST-order, and this time we ordered a few different things to share. Highly recommend the beef tomato egg rice- so tender and so well-cooked, the fried oysters were delicately fried and savory and fresh, and the enoki tofu cucumber salad was delightful and well-balanced, pairs really well wit the fried oysters. The staff was also outstanding, coming to clarify my order with me and checking for any allergies. The girls at the front check in desk were also very friendly and helped me sign up for the wait list. HOWEVER, in the midst of my dinner I witnessed something very disturbing. While I was eating my dinner, I heard some yelling going on and noticed a scene in front of me. The manager/owner was loudly berating his staff members in the dining area and threw his phone at the front desk counter. I think that is extremely unprofessional to do in front of staff and customers. If you have to have a serious conversation with your staff you should not be doing that in front of dining customers. That left a bad impression in me and I don't think I'll be coming back.

This restaurant features a minimalist Shanghai-style design, centered around a striking red and…read moregold color palette. Although the decor is simple, the bold use of red and gold makes it highly memorable--and the space is very clean. Even though the bowls and chopsticks are disposable, there's clear attention to detail. The chopsticks feel great to use, and they are even engraved with "上海小笼," which is a thoughtful touch. The bowls are made of thick, sturdy paper, with a beautiful red base and gold rim--both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. Ordering is done through a self-service kiosk, but there are still staff members nearby. When it's not busy, they are friendly and happy to assist with any questions. The Noodle in Scallion Sauce (上海葱油拌麵) has a rich scallion oil flavor with perfectly chewy noodles, while the Cold Noodle w. Peanut Butter Sauce (麻將涼拌麵) is packed with a strong peanut flavor and equally chewy texture. Both dishes are delicious and taste very similar to Taiwanese sesame noodles. Every dish is served fresh and hot, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Whenever I'm in Edison, I can't help but come back to try more items on the menu.

While the food was still pretty good, my wife, son and I had ordered: - The soup dumplings - Pork and spicy pork regular dumplings - Some of the cooked buns - Cucumbers Our friends had ordered something similar and they seemed to enjoy it as well. One thing that I was not really thrilled about is the lack of plates at the establishment. We did ask for some extra containers since they didn't have plates, but you can really get a feel that this place has shifted the experience from being dine-in to more takeout-based. All of the containers and plates are these paper plates that do tend to leak with enough time. As the bok choy we ordered had a soy-based sauce it was prepared with and that started leaking out of the paper container. All in all, still a good dumpling spot and the service was okay. The staff was friendly, but really the only thing they're doing is bringing you the food to the table. They don't check on you and you order from a kiosk now. So the overall dining experience in my opinion has gone down overall. If you're ordering takeout, I'm sure none of this applies will your food will be good, but just the dine-in experience is not what it used to be.
