I've lived in Clovis for 35 years and never noticed this restaurant. This morning I looked on yelp to find something different than the same old chains for breakfast. The food was hearty and delicious. I judge a breakfast place by their biscuits and gravy and these were fantastic. I got the bacon gravy and sausage gravy mixed. Good choice. Love! Love! Love! Not only is the food better than my mama's (which is saying something!), the staff is so sweet, considerate, and attentive. I'm in there almost every day off because it's right down the street. Best Biscuits and Gravy in the city, and I've tried everywhere, I also work at Denny's. The house made cinnamon rolls would garnish a 5 star rating on their own. Lucky me they serve other tasty items as well. When you walk in you are presented with half sheets filled with glorious cinnamon rolls freshly made. We decided to start with this for our breakfast appetizer. When I ordered it the waitress asked if I'd like it warmed with melted butter, I had to answer yes since I have a cardiologist appointment this week for a good motor pipe clean out. This was one of the best rolls I have ever had, the only better in recent memory is the Old West Cinnamon Roll Shop in Pismo. For breakfast we had the 2 egg combo with house potatoes, biscuits and gravy and we added bacon. I shared this plate with my wife and it was plenty of food. The eggs were over easy and cooked perfectly, the bacon was thick and crisp, potato's were diced fried and had good texture. The biscuits had a very light texture and the gravy was good but needed the seasoning adjusted. The kiddies had pancakes and after stealing a couple of bites I realized that these were some of the best flapjacks that I have eaten in this town. They were light with a bit of a crisp texture to them. This really is a hole in the wall and if you didn't know it was there you would probably miss it. It's in the heart of Clovis's industrial area and is attached to an old commercial building. The inside down home diner and that suits me just fine. Now the real question is how does it stand up against the Rodeo Coffee Shop? It's close, real close, but we have a winner. 1. Rodeo has bigger portions, but thats not really a selling point to me. 2. I prefer Rodeo's potatoes. It seems like they have a 2 stage cooking plan going on there. It's like their steamed and then smashed and fried. 3. B S cooked perfect over easy eggs and I don't always get that at Rodeo. 4. Both have great hole in the wall feel and the staff fits in perfectly for diners. Nice, always filing your coffee...Good people at both places. Tie. 5. That cinnamon roll seals the deal for me. It really was that good. I grew up in Santa Barbara where breakfast is a ritual, WAY more so than here in Fresno where the choices are so few. I prefer hole in the wall to chains ANY DAY. So when I found BS, I knew I was home. I kicked myself for weeks when I realized this tiny place was close to me for years before I realized it was there. I can walk in and talk smack to the waitresses who tell me to sit down and shut up. I will gratefully do so if I can get in lately! I need to keep my mouth shut about how yummy they are or start a rumor that they have closed so I can get in on a Sunday. I always order the same thing, but the cinnamon rolls are absolutely to die for. I LOVE the corned beef hash, and the sausage gravy, homemade salsa and my eggs are always done to perfection. Their homefries are once again, perfect. I think I'm hungry as I write this as my mouth is watering and I know I will be there this weekend for my calorie overload of gravy goodness.... read more

I have been going here for years and I was super disappointed today. I was not once checked on and if I had been I would have told them that my eggs were raw. When I got my check and showed her the raw eggs she was not concerned at all. I payed full price for a half eaten meal. I live in old town Clovis and I can ensure you i will not be going back. Disappointing. Waitress was depressing, zero customer service and acted like she hated her job. I guess sorting silverware was more important than serving customers. I heard the table next to us comment on her attitude as well. Eggs and hashbrowns were fine but buscuits and gravy were not good. Almost non existent biscuit and gravy was cold. Pretty much inedible. Inside is old and dirty. When the front of the house looks like that I am always afraid of what the kitchen looks like. We walked in around noon, moderate level crowd, took about five minutes to acknowledge I needed a table (for four). When they sat us down, no greeting, no recognition of when the server would be with us, and of course, no offer of coffee or water. Floor was filthy. Smelled like wet socks. After ten minutes without any service, we walked out. Perhaps, it could have been we were the only ethnic minorities in the restaurant? Definitely a future no-go! read more

This is one of the best breakfast places around! All of the food is delicious and you get a good amount for the price. The omelettes are some of the best I have ever had, no lie! It's a hole-in-the wall kinda place and the staff is super friendly. The chef is a riot if you get to talk to him, he's a blast. We sat down in the back booth eagerly looking forward to try this place... we were ignored.. sat there for over 5 minutes without even a menu or a greeting.. we saw two other parties get menus and drinks that came in minutes after we had already been seated.. we got up and the server didn't seem to care. I highly do not recommend this place as the service was terrible it seems as if they only cater to the locals who go there on a regular basis.. as someone who worked in restaurants as a server this was unacceptable and I was very disappointed and will never recommend this small cafe to anyone.. my wife and I were looking for something close that we could go to on a regular basis as b S is a stones throw from our house.. what a let down read more

I wasn't impressed, it was old, worn booths, filthy floor (carpeting caked with years of food). The place smelled of food of old.....but I got my eggs, corned beef hash was great! The coffee was sludge. I heard good things about the food....I've had better. I wont be back but I am glad I tried it. Despite the smell and look of this place the food was okay. Corned beef hash is so good!!! My son had a fresh homemade cinnamon roll that was amazing!!! I lived in Clovis 15 years and never tried this place until today!! I just moved out of town and I will make a point to return to this place when I visit! Good down home country cookin! Reminds me of my grandma's bacon gravy. We came in and were offered the single seating at the counter. The restaurant was full of patrons already at the tables. While it was great that our drink orders were take right away. It took 15 min before the wait staff took our food order. Then we were told it would take 45 min for the food. We left given the long wait and while it was nice that the sips of OJ and coffee were on the house, it would have been better if we were told up front out the long wait for (food) orders. Waitstaff did explain that they were short staffed. It was an overall poor experience. read more

I hate to be negative, and never really write reviews, but this time i had to. My dad suggested this place for breakfast to me and my grandmother, so we met him there. We had to wait for a table to be cleaned off so we could sit there, no big deal, when the lady took our orders she was extremely rude to me! took her 15 minutes to bring my drink( and thats only after i had asked for it) she brought my cinnamon roll out freezing cold, and when i asked for it to be warmed she acted as if she already had and i was being a baby about it (the butter on it wasnt even melted at all) numerous customers came in and had to wait for tables to be cleaned off so they had a place to sit, two guys even cleaned their own table off so they could sit down!!! not once were they apologized to. the food was good, but the service was horrible!!!! probably wont go back read more

Tried this place again after new ownership. Delicious! Staff was really friendly. The bacon and eggs were cooked just right and the pancake was lightly crispy toasty on the edges. It was a really good breakfast. I love it when breakfast turns out good. It's my favorite meal of the day :) They are still re-decorating so it's not much to look at but it's clean. read more

Pretty damned good. The service was great. Super friendly. Hash Browns, which I usually don't like, were crispy and I actually enjoyed them. Got biscuits and gravy half bacon / sausage. They were pretty much interchangeable so don't kill yourself trying to decide. You can taste flour and pepper with a hint of the meats. I grew up poor so this is just like mom used to make. Haha.. My husband and I love the breakfast here. Best biscuits and gravy we could find in all of California, they offer it with sausage OR bacon! I love to get the omelettes & hash browns, his fav is the chicken fried steak breakfast plate but also gets the lingucia one sometimes. We don't get out to Clovis that often, but when we do we love coming here to eat! Great food, & great service. Only thing I wish they carried was flavored creamer for my coffee, but that has nothing to do with how amazing the food is here and hasn't stop us from going anyway. read more
