It tasted like ground sausage with apples. -Chicken and biscuits with mushroom gravy - very good dish! The pimento cheese was a nice touch and gave it a good kick. The breakfast potatoes were awesome, seasoned well and very crispy. -Coffee - served nice and hot. Decent regular coffee. Customer Service: -Our server was friendly. We were seated pretty fast. My friend and I came to town unknowing there was a bridal convention going on that weekend, so the woohoo girls were a little extra (but it made for some phenomenal people watching). Anyway, we heard great things about B Matthew's and decided to take the walk from our hotel down to here (a seriously beautiful walk, even on a gloomy day!). When we arrived there was a bit of a wait, but we were grateful that you could still get a mimosa and wander a little more because they have the texting capability to let you know your table is ready! They have such a cozy feel inside and we were seated under the stairs (I was so curious to see what it was like up there, but did not venture..I can only assume that it's as cute as the first floor!). My friend has the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and a grapefruit mimosa (I was having major food envy) while I had the Turkey apple sandwich which was tasty, but after seeing the fluffy biscuits I had instant regrets about my choices.haha The service was fairly slow is my only complaint, but somewhat understandable with the volume of people or perhaps it was the location of the seating where it is easy to forget about.. This place is a lot bigger than the outside would make you think. From the window front, this place looks small and quaint but the inside has so much seating and space. And they properly spaced us out as well. Food was really good, our server was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations and great substitution ideas for members of our party. We arrived first thing in the morning with no reservation and we were able to snag a table pretty quickly. Hardly any wait. However, just a few short minutes after we were seated a bunch of people showed up. I assume they had a longer wait time. Breakfast was lovely. Their cocktails are fun and strong. They even have an alcoholic iced coffee ;) French toast was a huge hit all around! When we return to the area this will be our breakfast spot! read more

A favorite brunch spot of mine from when I lived in Savannah almost 20 years ago, and it has definitely kept its touch over the years. It is the perfect Bay Street location for the historic district and a great casual spot to start a day in Savannah. I thought B Matthew's Eatery was astoundingly good all around. I considered 4 stars but I can't justify giving that low! To note: - Our server -- whose name is escaping me right now even though we talked about her name -- was super friendly and efficient. - Outdoor seating is available and nice on warm days. Dogs may sit outside. - Brunch game is on-point here. I ordered their sangria to start and it was seriously incredible. One of the best sangrias I've had in recent times for sure. As for my meal, I chose the chicken salad sandwich, which just tasted like straight health. It didn't have any sort of overbearing mayo taste. If anything it tasted more "green," if that makes sense. The pasta salad side was awesome as well. Unique and flavorful! A storm front was coming in so we had to get moving fairly quickly to run some errands on River Street and couldn't stick around too long. Fortunately, it's conveniently located near all the shops! I had never heard of this spot prior to pulling up in front of it and confirming a favorable rating on Yelp before entering. Now I'd 100% have it on my list to visit on my next trip to Savannah. Heads up you can make a reservation here and then have it canceled if someone more important comes along or decides to buy out the restaurant. Came for a bachelorette night and then they changed our reservation and told us we were not able to come because it was bought out at 9pm. There's a reason there are some spots in town that people all talk about or know. Granted there are a ton in Savannah so you really can't go wrong with where you grab a meal! For a weekday lunch, you can easily grab both a parking spot and a table. The decor makes you feel like you're in the South. Some exposed brick, and a general feeling that you're actually a part of history. My party started with the crab cake appetizer. I'm not a huge crab cake fan, but I am always open to trying them. These crab cakes were so very tasty! They seriously melted in your mouth and paired perfectly with the cute mini green salad mix. For the main dish I selected the gyro with grain salad. Gyro on naan? Genius twist to a classic dish! How about the grain salad? I'm very glad to have went with something new. It's a quinoa mix served cold. It's hard to describe exactly what went into it, but I recommend this if you're looking for a more unusual side. My lunch partner had the Cuban sandwich with potato salad and a cup of their soup of the day, which I believe was a potato chowder. I don't normally order Cuban sandwiches, but I had a small bite and was pleasantly pleased with this sandwich. I doubt, however, that I would order this as it's simply not my cup of tea. There seemed to have been too much mustard for partner. He loved his salad and soup, which he rarely eats! For a place with great ambiance and service, come here. I imagine weekends are hectic, but I hope the service still remains superb! read more

Our favorite breakfast we had in Savannah! Service was great as well! I got the salmon avocado toast with the side of a fried egg, fruit, and a coffee. Salmon was cooked perfectly and coffee was good. He got the lamp post which was biscuits and gravy, cheesy grits, apple sausage, and home fries as well. He loved everything including the grits which we don't normally ever eat. Waitress was amazing she was always around and took great care of us. I love it here! The ambiance feels very warm and welcoming, staff is very friendly, and food is absolutely delicious! We came here for shrimp and grits, gravy, biscuits. Shrimp and grits were so delicious and gravy was probably the best I have ever had!!! So glad this was a side. I really liked how they had a candle lit in the window where we sat. I love candles and it really added a little extra. The fireplace was decorated nicely. I felt like I was in someone's home but still out to eat. Absolutely disgusting. I ordered an iced coffee which was poured into a dirty glass. Clearly someone already drank this glass because the ice had almost all melted, there was lemon pulp in the water, and halfway through my coffee I sucked a lemon pit up through the straw and almost choked on it. When we got there, we were seated quickly and our drink ordered were taken. They have a delicious mimosa for classic brunch, but the cocktail menu has a lot of variety. I had a "morning flora" - a gin and earl grey cocktail which I highly recommend. For the actual meal, I ordered chicken and biscuits, with a side of cheesy grits and WOW. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked, the biscuits were buttery and fantastic, and the grits? Well, I don't know what grits are supposed to taste like, but these were very good. My table ordered a pretty wide spread of types of food and not one person left less than pleased. They were very accommodating to my vegetarian friend who didn't want any bacon. read more

I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly and the sauce with mushrooms, cream, spinach, tomatoes etc. was different & delicious. My husband had the red rice with shrimp. The Good: The half Carafe of mimosas really hit the spot and was an excellent portion size for two. We asked for added grapefruit juice which was not included but since they were so busy, we let it slide. The crab cake Benedict was phenomenal. We wished we had just ordered two of these! We had also considered the fried green tomato beni because the portion was larger, so next time I would probably order one of each. 5 stars for the Benedict. The Bad: We started with a cocktail and it was kind of funky in a bad way. You know that taste of ice that has been in the freezer too long? Yep. The more it melted, the more it tasted of stale freezer. Not good. 2 stars for the cocktail. After hearing so much about the shrimp and grits we were excited to try them but we ended up feeling very dissapointed. There were hardly any shrimp, barely any flavor, and the strangest part, only a few flakes of grits! It was like grit soup, with a few little flakes floating in some kind of watery flavorless broth. When we cracked open the poached eggs, it became even soupier. We've had plenty of grits all throughout the south, and this is not the norm. We were expecting, nice, thick grits that would stick to your spoon while tasting creamy and delicious, but this is not what we received. Only a small hint of jalapeño in one of the bites. The wrap was also watery. We were not impressed, given this restaurant has a number of great reviews. The food overall was bland and flavorless. I tried to eat at this restaurant today and for my surprise, they did not allow me to get in with my service dog, even though she is a small Pomeranian, 8 pounds. It is the first time in 4 years that i am not allowed to get in to a restaurant because of my service dog. I do not care that it is Valentine's Day and you guys are busy, I need her to live my life well and this was just so sad, specially this day, when we celebrate love. Will NEVER return. read more
