We went here for our anniversary and we really enjoyed it. The ambiance was nice. The service was great. Our server was super sweet giving us compliments on our outfits, etc. And the food was delicious! I had no leftovers! We will be going back. It was a lot of good menu options to choose from.

We have been to B. Matthew's more times than I can count, always for brunch, and it has been consistently fantastic. One of those places you recommend without thinking. So naturally, we decided to try it for dinner. This is where the phrase "stay in your lane" gently taps you on the shoulder. We started with the crab cakes, which arrived with confidence and left with regret. These were aggressively fishy and had the texture of a breakfast pancake that had dreams of being seafood. Not lump crab. Not delicate. Just... ocean forward. Neither of us liked them, and we tried. We really tried. Next up, the biscuits. At brunch, these things have charisma. At dinner, they were just... present. They took the edge off my hunger, which I appreciate on a human level, but the flavor was missing. The butter and jam also showed up emotionally unprepared. No sparkle. No joy. No brunch magic. At that point, we did what adults do when they realize the evening is not going to turn around. We paid the check, cut our losses, and went somewhere else for the main course. This is not a bad restaurant. This is a great brunch restaurant having an off night at dinner. I will absolutely be back. Just earlier in the day, with coffee, and with my expectations firmly seated where they belong.

Banana Espresso Martini

The food at this restaurant is fabulous. The menu is very creative and everything that our table ordered was sooooo yummy. I had a banana espresso martini and a crab cake/ fried green tomato Benedict. The restaurant is located in a historical building and has been restored very well. If you can- make a reservation. We waited a good 35 minutes for a table for 4 on a Monday morning. The service was mediocre and we waited a very long time for the food to come out.

I haven't had a bad meal in Savannah and B. Matthew's didn't dissapoint. Tregg was our server and his suggestion of the fried green tomato crab cake Benny was on point. We sat outside because it was an hour wait but sitting under the live oaks and watching the world go by was great.

Long overdue review. I took my son here pre-Covid when I was on a work trip. Savannah has a lot of unique dining options in older commercial buildings that have been converted into cafes, hotels, restaurants and shops. I loved the aesthetics here. As for the food, we did breakfast, and it was a nice twist. Simple but decent! We have not been back to this spot since the 2019 stop, so apologize in advance for the old menu post.

Really good food. The gravy was so delicious with pieces of sausage mixed in and adding that to the flaky biscuits with the tender chicken breast was AH MAZE ING!

Phenomenal! Best bacon and French toast ever. The chicken biscuit = delish!! Highly recommend

Local review! There are so many good restaurants in Savannah, but every time I eat at B. Matthews I wonder why I don't dine here more often! I took my mom here for brunch on a Friday afternoon. They have a few tables outside so we went with that option. I had the omelette and potatoes. It was good! I ordered toast as well, which was super thick and yummy. My mom had the fried green tomato & crab cake benny-- now that's a photogenic dish! I instantly had to put a picture on instagram, ha! She said it tasted just as amazing as it looked.

This was our first time here and the restaurant is super laid back and very well organized. The staff are super friendly, our waiter also gave amazing service and gave us some great advice on what to eat. The food was delicious served hot and seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back.

We've tried quite a few different breakfast places while visiting Savannah, and this morning dined at B Matthew's. The positives is that the restaurant ambience is very nice and our server was great. The only issue was that neither my wife nor I thought the food was outstanding. I had the classic breakfast and my wife had the avocado toast. The highlight for me was the biscuit which was excellent. Lots of great breakfast spots in Savannah and this place was ok, just not one of my favorites.

Enjoyed my brunch experience here! The food was very fresh and the portion was perfect. I did ask for a substitute (fruit instead of potatoes) and unfortunately it didn't come out that way so I needed to wait for them to remake it. That aside, I would recommend this as a spot to try if you're looking for something with healthier options as well.

Semolina Gnocchi with added shrimp

We were looking forward to this restaurant when planning our Savannah trip, however it did not sadly live up to expectations. The menu looked great and it is has nice decor and service. However the food was, overall, bland and just ok. For dinner we ordered the classic Caesar and added salmon. We love medium rare salmon but this was almost raw in the middle and therefore we didn't finish the whole piece. The salad was fine as you can't really mess up a Caesar but the salmon was unseasoned and undercooked. We also ordered the semolina gnocchi and added shrimp for $8. It looked like a beautiful plate when it came out but had zero flavor. I added salt and pepper to help which I rarely do at restaurants. I don't even feel you should have salt and pepper on the table as the food should be seasoned well enough by the kitchen. Now the added shrimp were quite frankly a joke. If you look at the picture you cannot see them. For $8 I got 6 small over cooked curled up shrimp that were barely visible. I expected a nice size portion of shrimp. Overall the service was friendly and it has in theory a good menu, but this was just unseasoned and plain. Our whole party left and just kind of said "meh"

B Matthew's was very accommodating for our large party. We had a large bachelorette party and they were one of the few places that would take us and separate checks. Our waiter was extremely kind and attentive. I believe everyone enjoyed their food. The only complaints we had was the that the cheese plate was underwhelming and there were strange toppings on the grits. The tomatoes were just extremely off putting to us but of course you can always take them off.

How large a group can you accommodate and what is the best time ? I have a group coming in on the 26-30th, and we could be anywhere from 15-31 people.

Are there any non-pork substitutes for red-eye gravy/Tasso ham for the shrimp & grits entree?

Yes! We have a fabulous mushroom gravy that’s great with our shrimp & grits or biscuits & gravy.

Do they take brunch reservations?

Yes , we reserved a brunch party there for a bachelorette trip

I see a lot of reviews for breakfast but how is it for dinner? menu item recommendations?

Their kale salad I legit would eat daily if I could! I went two nights in a row!

What a beautiful picturesque place to have some bites and cocktails!…read more I was welcomed into this moody, velvety spot with a sweeping view of the river. Beautiful glass, marble, deep colors of navy, mauve, and gold. Service was wonderful, felt welcomed immediately. For my appetizer, I had the crab cake with homemade tartar sauce, which was a light, bright way to start the evening. For my entree, I had the filet mignon. The server will tell you, the menu says tapas, but the servings are larger than that. Meat portions are generous at 6 oz. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium and got closer to well done. At least the steak was still moist and not dried out, but I would be hesitant to do the steak again. The spinach risotto I had with it was creamy and cheesy, however, so that was nice. Other options for food include burrata, a charcuterie board, grilled shrimp, sea bass, salmon, scallops. The cocktails are the real star here. They fall under the categories "strong and adventurous," light fare," and "signature." Non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. I started with the medusa 1597, under "strong and adventurous." Made with Old Tom Gin, extra dry vermouth, truffle, grapefruit, and amaro, it was extremely strong. A bold, slow sipper I would have done better to have later in the evening, but I still appreciate the complexity of it. I also had the Bella primavera, a lighter cocktail under the signature section. Made with pisco, blanc vermouth, French herbal liqueur, watermelon, and basil leaf. A smoother, brighter, faster sip than the Medusa. And I also had the blood orange martini, made with French vodka, blood orange, lime, and cranberry. A little sweet, but not cloying, and again, would have been a better starter as opposed to a closer. I think when I return, I will ask the bartender to make me off the menu drinks. This place seems creative enough that the outcome would be fantastic. I loved this place. The vibe, the view, the service, the offerings. Can't wait to see what more they have in store.

Ambiance is prohibition bar vibes so a little more rustic and casual. I was a bit annoyed by the hostess. We had a reservation for our party of 6 and arrived about 15 minutes early. I asked if we could grab drinks at the bar and she kept coming up with excuses on why we couldn't stand or sit in certain areas. Finally, I just asked her to come up with a solution because we had 15 minutes to kill and they didn't have a waiting area. Funny enough, she decided then to get our table ready. It was just odd. Our server was from Ukraine so she was efficient and fast. Not super friendly or chatty with us which missed the mark on Southern hospitality and made our experience feel cold compared to our previous dinner experiences in town. I don't fault her for it though as she did her job. We ordered an excessive amount of starters and some of the entrees. The stand outs for me was the crispy Brussels sprouts, roasted bone marrow, steamed mussels, and grilled octopus. Skip any of the bread options. They weren't even toasted. For entrees, we also decided to share them. The pork chop and NY strip were stand outs. We ended up sending back the halibut. It tasted mealy and freeze burnt. Skip the crispy Japanese eggplant. I was expecting a grilled dish and it was actually fried with a thick batter. Too heavy for my liking. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but not somewhere I am dying to go back to.
