I had a taste for fish tonight, and so my husband has been wanting to try this place for a while. I have to say it hit the spot and reminded me of when my family would have "Fish Fry Fridays!" Everything was seasoned well. The cornbread tasted like cake! Now, I know there are some people that do not like sweet cornbread, but I grew up on eating it that way. My Momma makes her cornbread sweet, so needless to say this tasted like home! The Mac and cheese was just, ok. I know it was supposed to baked but it needed to be more creamy and cheesy. The noodles were dry. The corn was good too, but maybe if the butter that they cooked it in had garlic, that would be amazing! The okra and green beans were banging! Hands down the fish stole the show! Overall it was really good and I say give it a try!

    B. Anderson's is exactly what Brunswick needed! I had the jerk chicken, mac and cheese, and greens - every bite was packed with flavor. Truly some of the best food I've had since moving here. Chef Q, the owner, was so welcoming. She took a moment to sit and chat with me about her new spot and her move from Frederick. The space is still coming together, but the food speaks for itself. Soulful, hearty, and cooked with care. I can't wait to come back and try more. Highly recommend if you're craving good food and genuine hospitality.

Q has reopened her restaurant in Brunswick, replacing her location in Frederick. Food is made to order and absolutely delicious! She is just getting going in this new location, so it's mostly carry out until she can lay her hands on some furniture. Unfortunately she had to leave it all behind at the last place due to her dispute with her landlord that forced her to break her lease. If you have some furniture that might fit her needs she would love a donation. Come out and support her wonderful local food!!

Incredible soul food, Owner is so nice and addresses me by my name. In a weird and lowkey location but Probably the best food I have had around this area. Hope they break past the location barrier

After a very long hike in the morning, the wife and I decided to pick up something for lunch. And while looking for something new in the area, the wife decided to give this place a shot. We stopped by the place which is tucked in between some other warehouse stores, in the corner, not on the main road. We decided to order our food and Chef Pat was so kind and professional, he stopped by our car in the parking lot as we were struggling to find the place. The food we ordered is in the pictures, jerk chicken, Ackee & Saltfish, Mango Rum Cake, conch fritters, plantains and some beans and rice. We were running late, so the chef said they will deliver the food to our place. When the food was delivered to us, there was some miscommunication between what was ordered vs. delivered. However, when we called them, they apologized for the mistake and took care of it right away. After all this, I was, tbh, a little upset. And we sat down to open our delivery boxes since we were super hungry. As the lids opened, the aroma of the food filled the area. My frown turned into a smile right away. Now, I was getting excited to try the food, everything was packed very nicely for delivery, & was still nice and warm. Once we started tasting the dishes, I was floored. I have to say, by far, very very far, this is the best Caribbean food I have had in the US, thus far. The jerk chicken is cooked to perfection, I believe the chef mentioned they make it fresh everyday. The plantains were just so amazing, caramelized to perfection. The conch fritters were a perfect accompaniment with a sweet and spicy sauce. What truly left me speechless was the ackee and Saltfish, I cannot even begin to describe how good that dish was. I am a fan of Caribbean food now, if it's this good! To finish off, we split the Mango Rum Cake, where all we kept saying, after every bite was "yummm", as we kept closing our eyes to experience that perfect finishing touch to our meal. The food was cooked with a lot of skill, care and tons of love. The staff is coming up to speed and being trained, but the attitude of the chef is super professional and customer care oriented. A Hell Yeah 5 Star Review! Will keep going here, for sure. Wish you much success...!!!

Island Food To Go is an operation ran by Chef Pat, and you can really taste the authenticity in his food. You pre-order via calling the number or directly texting the number that is provided and then you can pick up the food curb-side, or you can have it delivered to your home. The jerk chicken was mind-blowingly good; the jerk marinade was so well-balanced and it had just the right amount of heat for my taste. The salt-fish and ackee dish was so delicious! Combine that with the red beans and rice and you have a comforting and delicious meal that is soul-satisfying. With each entree you have a choice of either white rice, yellow rice or red beans and rice. The mango rum cake we ordered was moist, buttery and perfectly baked. I can't wait to order their caribbean spice cake next time. There was a massive mix-up in terms of what was charged and what was actually delivered when the delivery driver delivered our food, but the business owner was quick to rectify the driver's mistake. They are still fairly new and fine-tuning their logistics, but with their level of professionalism and superior quality of food, I see this place becoming a big success. Can't wait to order my next meal from them!

We were looking for a spot that had good vegetarian options for our friends. I'm not super familiar with Jamaican cuisine beyond Jerk Chicken and rice and peas so I tried to pick some things that sounded good. I ordered over the phone and they were very patient with me not being able to pronounce everything perfectly but they took their time and made sure to get our order completely. They were super friendly and the food was ready to pick up quickly! We tried the Coco Bread which was huge as well as nice and sweet and fluffy. We also tried a vegetarian patty which had a great flaky crust on the outside. Next we tried the Ital Stew which I wasn't sure what it would be exactly but he said it would be a variety of mixed vegetables. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and had a very mild but great flavor! There were so many of them in the portion as well! The rice and peas were tender yet not overcooked at all, and deliciously seasoned... they had a hint of heat in the aftertaste that was very pleasant. My sister got the Brown Stew chicken with mac and cheese and rice and peas. The brown stew chicken was HUGE... had a nice sweet flavor and the chicken was tender falling off the bone. The mac and cheese was very good. You can tell it's homemade, in a good way. Like your favorite aunt whos been making it for years made it for the cookout. The steamed callaloo was an unexpected favorite for the table. We absolutely loved it- the greens were cooked perfectly and we felt it had a very light tasting flavor as opposed to some lard/bacon heavy methods of cooking greens like that. It doesn't taste overly vegetable-y either... I think little kids would even like it. And then a pleasant buzz from the heat of some peppers. The jerk chicken also had a pleasant heat, and again a huge portion for what was called a "small"!! There was also a nice tangy sauce on the side. All in all... the people were very nice and the food was so delicious! I love finding a place where I can eat vegetables that are cooked in a flavorful and healthy way. On top of that, the food is affordable and you definitely get what you pay for... everything was huge! I would definitely recommend Taste of Reggae.

So I pulled in, parked, walked in and the restaurant was cleaned with a beautiful bar. I ordered 3 items: 1) Beef empanadas 2) Cuban sandwich 3) Buffalo wings. As the appetizers arrive to the table, though I only chose one empanada out of the three flavors they offer: cheese, beef or chicken. I chose beef which was served with a special sauce (mayo and ketchup), because it was well seasoned and the filling was packed, the sauce wasn't needed. The crust was thin, flaky and delicious on its own. The buffalo wings served their homemade ranch, with 8 pieces were juicy, tender and delicious. Unfortunately the Cuban sandwich fell flat for me. The ingredients were ham, cheese, roasted pork, pickles, mayonnaise and mustard. The sandwich was flattened like a panini and I was excited for the first bite but the protein was too dry. As I lift the bread, there was only a teaspoon mayo and mustard spread. It was served with matchstick fries and a ramekin of ketchup. I wanted to ordered desserts but unfortunately they do not make all of their homemade desserts (flan, tres leches, rice pudding) every day. You will have to called in to see what they have before dining in. The only dessert available that day was their flan. My server Karla was friendly and attentive. I would make another visit to try other items on their menu.

The pastelillo de carne, ox tail, pernil, friend chicharon de pollo, and fried porchops all lacked flavor. The pork chops were particularly tough, as if they were extremely overcooked. Which is not appetizing when you want to put food in your mouth. I really wanted to rate this high but can't. Hope they improve.

Mine came with rice and peas and the mixed stir fry vegetables. Rice and peas can sometimes be a little dry, but that's not a worry here- they were really good! Some Jamaican restaurants in the area give you a couple of slivers of fried plantains to accent your meal. I was informed, "we don't do that here." Maybe they'll consider adding that little touch that would've taken my meal over the top.

The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was decent--especially since I wasn't sure what to expect. The most disappointing part was the rice and peas; I was hoping for a bit more flavor. Overall, given the lack of Jamaican restaurants in NoVA, this spot was decent, and I'd return to try some of the other sides. Customer service was great. Initially I chose mixed veggies as a side but changed it to mac and cheese with no issues at all; the staff was more than willing. The restaurant itself is spacious compared to most Jamaican spots and is located right next to BJ's. Lunch prices are reasonable, though the regular entrées are on the pricier side in my opinion. That said, the lunch portion was more than enough.
