B&J Roofing did a fantastic job with my re-roofing. I knew I needed a new roof but kept delaying it due to the fact that the previous owners rested an awning directly on the roof. I did not want to have to build a new awning and B&J found a solution for me. They were quick, quiet, and very professional (a neighbor even sent me a note saying how pleased she was with the low level of noise). They did a thorough clean-up during/after the job - no stray pieces of shingle and no nails. A buddy of mine went with a company that advertises a lot on TV and he said he is still finding nails in his yard/driveway/etc. Great job folks! read more

We had some water leaking into one of our rental units in Seattle. Fearing the worst, we thought we needed a new roof. A neighbor of ours in Bellevue had used B & J Roofing for their house and had raved about the job they did for them. Not many roofers work on flat roofs, so we were encouraged when other roofers (who didn't handle flat roofs) referred us to them as well. Setting up the appointment was easy. The receptionist was very pleasant and was able to schedule someone to come out in a few days. When it turned out that it was going to be raining quite heavily on the scheduled day of our appointment, she called to re-schedule a day earlier and mentioned that we didn't need to be there if it was an inconvenience. We appreciated that but it was no problem for us to re-arrange our schedule. When the day arrived, one of B.J.'s senior workers came out and looked at the roof. He discovered that the problem was not the quality of the roof but clogged drains that were keeping the water from draining off the roof. Bottom line, he gave some recommendations about improving our drainage, said that a new roof was not needed, and didn't charge for examining the roof. It was quite a relief and we much appreciated his efforts. Even though we didn't need a new roof this time around, B & J will be at the top of our list when we do. read more

They say 90% of success is just showing up, but even that seems to be a challenge for this company. Our HOA hired them to fix a ventilation issue in the attic that our home inspector found. We had an appointment and no one showed up. I called the office and was put in contact with the roofer. He told me that he drove by, took some pictures of our home, and then left because he didn't know what the job entailed. He never called or knocked on the door. Huh? We reluctantly rescheduled. For a second time, no one showed up. Had to call the office again. The roofer finally showed up nearly two hours late. He then disputed everything our inspector had told us, which was wildly inaccurate. The roofer said he'd get us a bid, which never happened (shocking, I know). We ended up hiring a different company that showed up on time, didn't argue with our inspector's findings, and fixed the problem. Get your act together. read more

Brian was extremely responsive. He is also a truly nice guy. It took a while for me to decide on the roofing material and he was very helpful throughout. I asked for and received a bid for each material that I was considering. The crew was pleasant, worked diligently, and did a great job. The entire process went smoothly and the results are excellent. Highly recommend. The garden shed and my east-side neighbors' garden shed share a roof. My neighbors wanted to have their shed re-roofed at the same time as mine. Brian facilitated this process. Upon request, he broke down the charges according to square footage. Even though my neighbors were not his clients, he provided them with a separate warranty. My neighbors were very pleased with how the whole thing worked out. A few weeks after the roof was finished we needed to have another roof opening created for a vent that had been overlooked. Even though it was not their fault that the vent was missed, Brian sent someone to create a new opening the same day at no extra charge. Because the stone chimney was being built up, the sequence of events had to be roofing, masonry, flashing, and then final masonry. Brian did not charge extra to return and flash the chimney. As soon as the mason was ready, a roofer appeared right on schedule to do the flashing. read more

At a time when it was almost impossible to get help (Covid), our roof sprang a leak. B&J Roofing came out before anyone else, diagnosed the problem, and had it fixed promptly. No more leak! Their bid of under $300 was $1000 less than another bid that was offered remotely (after merely looking at a photo of our roof). Made an appointment with their receptionist a week prior, she requested some information and I sent this via email the same day. The day of the appointment came, and 20min before the scheduled appointment, the person who was scheduled to come called me and said based on the email and the information they were not coming. The person did not explain why, they said he'll email me something and said that he was getting another call and hung up. It was a frustrating experience. read more

Great customer service, quality of work and clean up. The initial meeting with Brian and bid process was straightforward and fair. Guys showed up on time, worked extremely hard in 90* heat for 3 days to complete my roof job. They even replaced the metal work around one of my skylights- no charge. Roofing can be messy on your yard, I know this, so I was pleasantly surprised at the high level of clean up that these guys did. I appreciated it very much. He understood our requirements and communicated the solutions in an efficient manner with high integrity. With stories around dealing with irresponsible roofing companies or contractors with faked licenses, I was skeptical going into the project. But B&J and the crew has earned my trust and confidence from the initial inspection to the finish of the project. Our old asphalt roof had reached the end of life. There are leaking marks in the living room so replacing with a new roof before this year's rain season became critical. We decided to go Metal. I interviewed 6 companies in the beginning. 3 of them, you can tell that they spent too much money on marketing and sales, so the quotes were unreasonably high. Brian finished the inspection in 30 minutes. We asked quite a lot of questions and all were answered to our great satisfaction! We received a reasonable quote with no sales and marketing! We eventually chose B&J out of the other two because of the smooth and professional communication with Brian, the right pricing and a transparent term with NO overcharge. It took only a week or two to get on B&J's inspection schedule. But because of their busy schedule in the summer, the actual project started in early October. Brian communicated the timeline very transparently. We understand the schedule. The crew came in on time and got the whole roof done in a week, right before the raining season. Brian and his team had also demonstrated what real customer service meant not just before the project was done, but even after. A day later, I realized that the corner of the house had unusual dripping of the water. It turned out to be the clog of the corner downspout. Brian took our request with NO hesitation and came to help us wash everything clean. This is how a high integrity work looks like with hard work, customer driven care, kindness and passion of great work. Now we enjoy our new metal roof in the rain season with no worry of leakage. I had a small roof leak, a couple of water stains on the ceiling in one of the rooms on the second floor. I live in a pretty standard 2-stories house. Contacted B&J Roofing, they sent a man to do estimate. He came, took a look, several days later he sent me a contract. The price was pretty reasonable, I signed the contract the same day and emailed it back. I was told that they will contact me later to schedule an appointment to fix the leak. So far so good. I waited one week, no one called me back. I sent an email inquiring about the appointment - got no reply. I waited another week, then called the person who did the estimation, he sounded surprised, didn't remember me, I told him my name, he said that he will try to find my contract. He called me back and said that he couldn't find my contract. I sent it to him again. He called later that day and said that their crew will come Friday morning this week. I was a bit surprised but I was thinking that it's not a big deal - they lost my contract, that happens. I was waiting for the crew on Friday morning, it was 12.30pm and no one showed up. I thought that maybe I misunderstood and it's not Friday morning this week but Friday morning the next week, I called again to double check, and was told that the crew is coming within an hour. So, they were supposed to come in the morning, they were behind the schedule and no one bothered to call me to notify about that - not a great attitude towards your customers. The crew came, went on the roof, did some stuff there, I was sitting at home and at one moment I saw that their car is driving away. I thought maybe they forgot some tools or materials or went to get some food, but they never came back. So, they did some work, never told me what exactly they found there, what they fixed, didn't even say "good bye" to me and left. I was thinking that maybe they will send me a detailed report via email later, but 4 days later I received only an invoice. My astonishment grew up with each interaction! I told them that I will pay only when someone will tell me what work was done. 3 days had passed - no reply. I sent another email. Finally, I received an email with pictures and explanations, and then I paid the full price from the invoice. I very rarely write any reviews, so I didn't intend to write anything even after that not very pleasant experience, but last weekend I went up on my roof to clean gutters and I found about 40 old rusty nails lying on the roof by the place that they fixed. This was the final straw. The crew didn't even bother to clean after themselves. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

My experience with B&J Roofing was horrible. I set up an appointment to have someone come out and look at a leak in my roof. It took about 2 weeks to get an appointment. Then Brian Hart came out and just took off my skylight and put it back. He didn't fix anything or give me an estimate to fix it. Waited a few weeks due to lack of rain to see if whatever he did worked. When the rain arrived, the leak was worst then before. Called and left a message for Brian. I had so many questions because I was leaning on replacing the roof rather than a repair. Three weeks passed and still no return call. This company is unprofessional and not worth calling! read more

Armed with limited budget, little remodel knowledge and zero construction skills, we bought a 110 year old Seattle house. It was the only house we could buy without 75 other offers. The dilapidated roof, along with everything else, needed replacement. It is impossible to determine, unless a roofer had xray vision, what deficits lurked beneath. As new homeowners, we did the usual checking of reviews and getting bids. We had companies who would come look at it only if we agreed to listen to a 2-hours sales presentation afterwards. At some point, I reached B & J Roofing. Their estimate wasn't 'the cheapest'. What stood out was the level of detail and serious technical analysis that went into the B & J estimate. We're thankful we chose B & J because Brian and his on-site lead, Israel, tackled every problem conceivable from a 110 year old roof: multiple layers asphalt on top of cedar shingles with skip sheathing, no plywood, no venting, extensive rot, even vegetation growing out of the eaves.
