This is my second time using Skyline Roofing to clean my roof. "Set" arrived early and spent a good part of the day cleaning my roof. By the time he was finished it was absolutely spotless! So much so, that my next door neighbor who had just driven up came over to me and asked who did my roof. He was not happy with his current company and had canceled his appointment with them. Let me start off by saying that I've been in procurement for quite some time now, which means I buy stuff for a living. That being said, I had 10 roofing companies swing by to assess my roof and provide quotes. The scope was for full roof replacement. Here's why I opted for Skyline (and I'm glad I did): - Pricing: Skyline's quote was the second-lowest. Reason why is because Greg (owner) took the time to account for the specific needs of the project, compared to other companies who apply virtually the same formula across projects. Skyline was roughly 18% more affordable than the average bid. - Warranty: In addition to the standard 30-yr manufacturer's warranty (everyone is the same in this regard), Greg provides a 15-yr labor warranty through Skyline. He also offered to get in touch with the manufacturer should I ever have any material warranty issues. This gave me an assurance that I wasn't compromising quality for savings. - Quality: I always ask a lot of question from service providers when I don't fully understand the work they're doing. In dealing with Greg, his confidence and assurances put me at easy at every corner. His crew has been in the business for 15+ yrs and they know their stuff - no micromanagement required! They completed the job in two days, and that included plywood install across the roof. The finished product looks perfect, and there was no shortage of attention to detail (they also replaced a fascia board and it looks great). - X-Factor: Greg's team took the time to replace the roof of our small shed, which was not in scope btw. They were super nice about it too, and didn't cut any corners while at it. Another bonus is that they scheduled my roof replacement a lot sooner than I thought, and they finished it THE DAY BEFORE the rainy season started - talk about perfect timing! Greg himself is pretty awesome, and promptly replied to all my messages and concerns. He also swung by to perform a final walk-through and collect payment. Overall, if you're looking for the best value (or total cost of ownership), take my advice and at least call these guys up to bid your roof work and see for yourself. In short Greg/Skyline Roofing is a sub-contractor who does not have a team. In stead, he hires a another three star rated roofing company to do the job which is not disclosed anywhere so beware! Here is our experience in more detail. In retrospect, there were a few red flags but since we had not encountered a business like this before all this came as a big and bad surprise. 1. Selection process. Greg was great on the phone. Very well communicating & returning calls promptly. We use to have a great roofer. A small business, doing quality work, great attitude and giving a reasonable market price. We moved and needed to find another company for our new home. I was looking for a similar company wanting to support a small local business. Greg/Skyline Roofing appeared to be that business with great reviews. Good on paper too and a competitive estimate. Greg followed up to check if he can answer any questions, promised 20+ years of craftmanship guarantee. So we have made the decision to go with him. 2. Job. On the day of the work two men appeared in a van carrying a different name brand. Hmm. They did not speak English. Greg never showed up on-site while the work was conducted (2.5 days) All communication was done through him via the phone. It was weird. The most disgusting part was that the men were peeing on the flower beds next to the garage. We discovered it at the end of day one, called Greg, he promised to resolve it and nothing was done about it. No port-a-potty. Yikes. That was the end of the day 2 and the work was almost complete. 3. Payment. Greg showed up only to collect the money and to go around with a magnet pretending to collect nails. He is great at promising and selling then underdelivering. He promised it will take care of most of the nails but it's not the case. A few times more (a handfulof what he collected was left in the grass :( He also made a strange comment "to go to a court if we don't pay him right away". Weird. We had no intention in delaying the payment. 4. Result. A year after a couple of issues showed up. It took two emails and two long phone calls to get Greg agree to repair the problem areas. On the calls, Greg went into long, very long explanations why the problem is not a problem. I sent him pictures. He went as far as to suggest that " it's an optical illusion", that we "just need to climb the roof and push the lifted roof shingles down (!)", ""that damaged wood from the water run off left unprotected my a missing shingle is "a home owners' maintenance responsibility". I suggested he comes over to evaluate the problem. He responded, that there will be an extra charge for the visit! When reminded of his craftmanship promise he finally agreed that within the next two weeks someone will show up and repair. It's been more than two weeks. Needless to say, no one showed up and no communication has followed. Too bad. I am living this review (way overdue in my opinion) to warn others of this whole experience. I will call a reputable roofing company recommended by two realtors in the area. We have another job for them and will hire them to repair the problem areas as well. A new roof is a major decision and a pretty stressful one. We received quotes from 7 companies total. Skyline was high middle of the pack on price and warranty. We initially signed with Four Seasons (who actually gave us the highest quote), but as we got closer to the project some "extras" we had talked about (new skylights and mounts) suddenly became more than twice the cost they had initially stated, communication got weird/aggressive, and we never heard from the sales guy we felt comfortable with again. So we reached out to a couple more companies and I'm very thankful we found Skyline. Greg was super responsive, extremely accommodating, and the folks that actually did the work were kind, courteous, and kept the job site clean. Everyone we interacted with was a professional taking pride in their work. The roof looks great and the price was fair. We felt Skyline genuinely cared about our comfort and satisfaction. Finally went with Skyline for my roof/gutter cleaning. Other roofers billed the anti-moss separately and billing it per pound, and were also billing additional for clean-up of the moss from my driveway and yard! Needless to say, I was looking at more than $500 worth of roof cleaning for my 10 year old roof that had little moss on it. Since Skyline was recommended by many Yelpers, and had the lowest price among the other places I called I hired them for my job. Greg is very responsive, his price is very competitive and affordable (he includes the tax, yard/driveway cleaning from moss, and gutter cleaning), and he makes sure you are happy with his service. He explained everything that was included in the services, and offered to even climb and check my roof to ensure everything was done after the service was completed! We had such a positive experience with Skyline Roofing! We moved into our house a few years ago knowing that our roof had about 3 more years left in its life so we started getting quotes on roofs. We had a number of people come and pitch to us why we needed to use them. We got some outrageous quotes. One came in at $20,000 and we have a 1800 sq/ft house so it seems very high and wanted us to decide THAT night. The sales people were pushy and wouldn't leave even though it was clear our kids needed to go to sleep!! So we were very weary about getting more quotes after that one. We had a friend recommend Skyline Roofing so we had Greg come over to measure and give us a quote. He was not pushy, always showed up to our appointment times on times, and was so honest from the start to the end. It was so refreshing after the few sales people we had worked with previously. He was not a slimy sales guy! Phew. Greg was very professional outlining everything we needed to understand about the costing and process of the roofing experience. His quote came in very fair - it wasn't the highest but it wasn't the lowest either. He allowed for many options of payment too. He was very transparent and did not act sneaky or trying to trick us into paying more money for something we didn't need. He would bring us roof samples so we knew what color we wanted and didn't act annoyed when I had questions ;) (I had many!) Once the roofing started happening the team was very hardworking. Greg was communicating with us every step of the way. The crew was kind and cleaned up well after themselves. They were taking safety measures on our steep roof too which made me feel better. They didn't smoke in our yard which was nice since we have kids. It took them 4 days to do our roof and then came a couple weeks later to install custom skylights that needed replacing. It was such a positive, smooth experience. I was so thankful that I felt like we were getting an honest company and they were giving us a fair price. Skyline Roofing did a great job replacing our roof. Out of 6 bids, theirs was the second-lowest and also the only one without any flim-flam about "signature service", pressure to replace perfectly good old shiplap sheathing, etc. The crew showed up on time, were friendly, and cleaned up after themselves each day, to the point of walking the property with a magnet to catch any stray roofing nails. Greg and his team did an amazing job. We contracted them to do a full spring cleaning including roof gutters windows and even pressure washed our front drive. They responded quickly came out and looked at the house and gave a reasonable estimate for time and cost. Wow, what an experience! We recently had Skyline Roofing replace our roof and gutters and let me tell you, we have never experienced service from a contractor like that before. Let me start off by saying that over the years, we have had many contractors doing work on our home and they have all been for the most part pretty decent, but we have had some sort of hiccup or issue with each one at some point during the project. Wether it was cost overruns, pressure sales by the estimators, delays during the project, the inability to get ahold of the estimator before or during the project or the vague answers to questions that we had. We had zero issues like this with Greg and Skyline Roofing. We ended up getting three total estimates, but right from the get go Greg seemed to be the most knowledgable, friendly and was the quickest to return any phone calls or emails when we had questions. Their pricing what right on point with the other estimates that we recieved but when talking to Greg, it just seemed that he genuinly wanted to install a really great roof for us, not just complete a project to make a few bucks. In the end we decided on Skyline and boy am I glad we did. As I mentioned Greg was great throughout the whole process, kept us up to date as to when the project should begin and once it started was right on the money as to what day they would be completed. He called us a couple times during the project to see if we had any questions and to keep us updated (loved that by the way, we have never had a contractor do that for us) and did a very thourough inspection once the project was completed. The crew was fantastic. They were all very curtious, nice, friendly and very professional (it was evident that they had alot of experience in roofing). My husband went out and talked to them a few times during the project and they were always willing answer any questions that he had. The daily clean- up was far better than I ever imagined it would be which I was very thankfull for because we have two little ones and a dog and the fianl clean- up that they completed the last day of the project left our yard looking cleaner than it was before the project even started. All in all it was just a great experience. I have already reccomended Greg and Skyline to some friends, family members and a few neighbors. We recently had to replace the roof on a fairly large rental house that we own. It was an unanticipated expenditure and a house we intend to keep for many years so we really needed to get high quality job for a best price. I actually reached out to four different roofers based largely on YELP reviews and personal recommendations. I have to say that all of the companies I talked to were very thorough and professional. I selected Skyline based on three criteria: 100% excellent reviews; best price of the bunch; and Greg's professionalism and patience in walking me through all of the options and considerations. In trying to compare multiple companies I found many differences it what they recommended and Greg carefully walked me through the differences and what made sense in the Seattle area and what did not. I was fully confident in what he advised me, though he left all final decisions up to me. It has been a very rainy fall and winter so I know he had scheduling problems getting all his jobs lined up but I did tell him about a week coming up when all of the special needs tenants would be out of the house and asked if he could try to work it at that time.
