An absolute gem! I don't need a roof right now, but it's good to know I have Hillside for when I do. These guys do the opposite of take advantage of the consumer. Daryl did an inspection regarding a gutter overflow issue, figured it out, and removed a piece of gutter stuff to save me from getting up on a ladder and doing it myself -- refused to bill me for it and with zero attempt to sell me something I don't need, just good old-fashioned service with a smile. I highly recommend using Hillside Roofing. But first let me tell you about my selection process. I wanted a roofing company, not a construction company that sometimes does roofing. I also wanted a local company that was close by and didn't have to drive 40 minutes to my job site. I then looked on Google maps and did a search for roofing companies, and I did look at some brief reviews on the Google map results. I arrived at a list of 11 potential companies in the Mountlake Terrace area. Next, I checked all companies on the Better Business Bureau web site. I eliminated six for various reasons by reviewing the BBB information. Now I was down to a list of five companies, I used each company website to request a quote. Only four responded to my inquiry using their own website form. I then contacted these four and arranged for each to come out on site for a quote. Of the four appointments, three showed up. My particular job is a two-story house, around 1500 ft² on the roof, and removing two layers of existing asphalt shingle. I wanted a good quality 30 year asphalt shingle replacement. I received a quote from all three and they were all very close costwise and terms, etc. I had questions about one of the quotes from one company, but they never respond to my questions! So cross them out. I was now down to two companies to choose from and I selected Hillside. Sometimes it just comes down to a gut feeling who's going to do a good job for you. Tom of Hillside always met every commitment, he was on time, and always answered any question I had very quickly. He's very busy and books up quickly, but we worked out a schedule that worked for both of us. And he held to this schedule and got the job done in two and a half days! I liked his crew. They always came out on time. They worked very hard on very hot August days. At the end of each day they always cleaned up the work site and left everything clean. Tom came out a couple times to check on things, and once to answer a question I had and he made it right. I know this is a very long write up review, but if you're like me, it's a lot of money you're spending on your house and you want it to be done right. And you don't want complications. I recently had the moss removed from my roof. The moss company told me that I needed to have a roofing company come out as they thought a few shingles had come loose and flashing was needed. My next door neighbor had recently used the services of Hillside Roofing and Gutters. I talked to my neighbor and were told they were very satisfied with the work and the level of communication from Hillside. I called Hillside (Dan) and within a few days they came out and did a thorough review of my roof. They confirmed that, for the most part, my roof was sound and in good shape but agreed that some shingles had come loose. Firstly, they were willing to come out and repair our roof during the middle of the pandemic and able to fix what needed to be fixed in the short term. We were not able to do a completely new roof at that time and they were able to keep us secure and dry during some wild storms. He took the time to help me onto the roof, and teach me all about my shingles, staples, how moss was redirecting water under the shingles, how plastic vents posed weak spots, potential solutions for the crack in my chimney, and so much more! And after all that, he was the only one (out of 6 estimates) that told me that I could wait another 5 or so years if I just cleaned and maintained my roof. I dont have a ton of time so I only write reviews when the experience with the company is either really good or really bad. In this case it was really good! Dan from Hillside Roofing came to my house to help me figure out why there was a leak that was happening in my roof. He explained everything clearly, spent a ton of time to investigate the cause and even helped me clear out some gunk in my gutters. In the end he fixed the issue and did the right thing for me as the customer while keeping the costs (and his profit) down when he easily could have tried to talk me into more expensive service. Hillside / Greg is very honest and didn't beat around about the issues our roof had. We followed his recommendations to replace the roof and couldn't be happier.
