During the estimate, Craig seemed nice enough. He gave an estimate and was very professional and courteous. so I made an appointment with him. After waiting for over a month, they just plain missed my appointment. When I called they were on their way to another job. No apologies, as if that's the way it was. They said they could schedule me in for the following week. Against my better judgment, I agreed. The second appointment, they were over an hour late without calling. Then after cutting the ceiling without checking the attic first, they said in order to install the skylight as I asked, they need to charge extra. This is something they could have known and taken into account just by looking in the attic, so it's sort of a hidden charge to add to the original estimate. Since they had already cut a big hole in my ceiling at this point, I agreed to it to keep moving forward. When they put the skylight in, one of the frames they used had a piece of wood that broke in half and only half remained on the frame. However, Craig insisted it wasn't part of the support and would be sturdy. Even if it's not part of the frame, using broken off wood (half of which was gone) on parts that are unseen separates the good contractors from bad contractors. For cleaning up, they used this shop vac but somehow didn't close the lid, so when they vacuumed, a layer of particle dust was sprinkled all over the house and the entire house was in this hazardous dust. Lastly, when I asked them if they could wipe the skylights before they go because I don't personally like going up to the roof, they spat, yes just like that, on the windows to wipe it. How is that for respecting their customers. Afterwards, we noticed that there were spots where the texture wasn't done right, so we asked them to fix it. One day, without ringing our doorbell, they just climbed up on the roof, unscrewed the skylight, sprayed some of the texture spray, closed it back up and left. They really have a disregard for the privacy of their customers. They are the worst type of contractors. Poor quality work, hidden charges, and just plain rude. Avoid like the plague!

Keith was very straightforward with the pricing estimate & came in around or lower than other company estimates. They are a family owned business & have been around for 30 years. The crew was respectful & efficient. They dropped by unannounced toward the end of the project & my wife was telecommuting from home so we sent them away. They arranged a new time to finish up & came back at our convenience. The only additional costs from the estimate was the replacement of rotting boards, which was only a couple hundred extra. I'm very happy with their honesty & their detailed work & explanation of the process. I recommend them for anyone who is looking for a roofer on the East Side.

The materials were delivered in a timely manner and within 3 weeks the men were on the roof and doing the replacement. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, as it was the two warmest, sunniest days of the year! The guys were awesome and always informed me when they were here and when they were leaving. And, it only was a two day job! The grounds were impeccably groomed before they left each night and the grass was scoured for nails and other metals. My roof is AMAZING! I love the tinkle of the rain on it today, wheras for the last 6 months or more, I was horrified when it rained and had to bust out the towels! These men were kind, professional and above board. I didn't expect that I would use Rock Roofing when I started to look for a roofer, neither did I…read moreexpect that Rock Roofing was beyond excellence! We started to experience granule loss on our roof that was installed in late 2005. That roof came with a 30-year warranty, but it didn't survive more than 18 years. I wanted to file a warranty claim, but the manufacturer required me to pull out a shingle as a sample, which I hesitated to do so. I don't know any lay person would be willing to pull out a shingle with some simple instructions. Even most handymen I talked to hesitated to take on such a job. When I was still figuring out what to do with the roof warranty, a big storm came to accelerate my re-roofing project. We got a leak on the roof, and the water came into our attic, and then our master closet. Yikes! I realized that I had to re-roof as soon as possible, so I decided to hire a roofer who could help me with the warranty claim. I got some recommendations from my neighbors, colleagues, and friends, and I started to call around. Rock Roofing wasn't on the list of the recommendations. However, because of that big storm, one highly recommended roofer declined to come to give me an estimate as they had got too much work, so they referred me to Rock Roofing. Colt at Rock Roofing was amazing. When I explained to him what I needed to file a warranty claim, he just volunteered to help without getting my promise to sign the contract. He then went ahead to pull out a shingle for me, and he also tarped the roof to protect my roof from the rain. When he was measuring my roof, he was able to identify the leak and just repaired on that spot. To be honest, when he told me that he had fixed the leak, I was skeptical. I also had other roofers come to give me estimates, but most of them couldn't even tell what caused the leak, so how could Colt identify the cause and fix easily?! It turned out that he did fix the leak. Before he came, we had a funnel system to direct the water from the roof to a big barrel. We always got lots of rain in the barrel. Since he came, we didn't get any more water in the barrel. Colt also helped me take many necessary photos for the warranty claim. Because my old roofing contract didn't specify the size of the roof, and the aerial roofing measurement didn't work due to the surrounding tall trees, Colt drew a roof sketch with detailed measurements for me to present to the manufacturer, who accepted the sketch and processed my warranty claim. He even did all these things during his vacation time. I really appreciated his assistances and efforts. I got total 4 bids for my roof. By comparing the same materials, Rock Roofing's price was the lowest. I normally don't take the lowest bid, because sometimes low bid just means low quality of work or poor customer services. I reviewed the contract closely and asked many questions. Colt was very patient with me, and he responded to my questions quickly. His explanation was very clear and easy to understand. Later I came to Yelp and realized that Colt had been highly praised in many reviews. Therefore, I decided to move forward with Rock Roofing. During the roofing process, the workers arrived on time and cleaned up after work. The work was completed on schedule. The next day after the work complete, one Rock Roofing staff came to do a thorough clean up, including the moss on my driveway. Colt came to walk me through the work to make sure that I was satisfied with every detail, and he also explained to me how the roofing system worked.
