I was in a jam. I was selling a condo unit in Monterey Park and we were closing that day. The last tenant forgot to leave the mailbox key, so I needed a locksmith that would be able to get out there and make a duplicate key, so that we could close. It's pretty much some sort of bad news when you need a locksmith, but I was in that position again recently. :( Lucky for me, using B&B was the smoothest part of this entire debacle, so far. They get another 5 star review because: 1) When I called to book the appointment, the man answering the phone patiently answered my questions (in Chinese, but they speak English, too) and gave me his best estimate of pricing based on what I could tell him. 2) They came when they said they would. They even called before they left to let us know. 3) They did what they said they would. Unlocked doors, cut off padlocks, replace locks, etc. 4) They were efficient and didn't overcharge for what they did. We had them go slightly outside of their normal service area and they did charge us a very nominal travel fee, but I was happy to pay this to know that using them would prevent the headache of dealing with a potentially flaky or untrustworthy locksmith. I called asking for KEY FOB programming they quoted pricing and welcomed me to come bring car and come immediately and they cld do it immediately. Little skeptical because of the pricing being the cheapest out of 6 others locksmith, I went. And let me tell you, there was no disappointment. Had a car key that needed to be made. Went to local Home Depot and waited about 15 minutes to be told that they didn't have the kind of key template to make a copy. Fortunately, the employee was familiar with the area and recommended this local shop. I'm glad he did. The B & B rep was very helpful and knew exactly what kind of make and model key to find. Once again, a neighborhood business with knowledgeable people who do it right the first time! And have a deep stockroom on site - we didn't have to wait for the part to come in. Our front door lock went kaput, we took it apart and figured out the part that was broken. On to the local Home Depot - nope, no luck, they just sell whole lock sets and not even of the quality (or complexity) of the one we were trying to fix - but, kudos to the HD guy who recommended we go to B & B. So, instead of paying about $160 for an inferior replacement, we got a quick, professional fix in about no time for about $15 on a $275 lockset. I'm sure that B & B would have come to our house and done the whole job, but we had the lockset out of the door already... Price, service and timeliness - it doesn't get much better. read more

I stopped by here after work for a key&remote replacement for my car. I didn't even have the key to duplicate so they started everything by looking up the make and model of my car. These guy did a good job and they demonstrated the final product to me to make sure I was satisfied before paying. They even gave me an extra valet key free of charge which was nice. It has been over 2 months and I haven't had any problem with the new key yet. It works as great as the original. The price given to me was cheaper than other places I have called. I came here to get a few locks re-keyed. It only costs $7/ea, which seems really inexpensive to me. Now all my locks are on the same key! Super convenient. Service was prompt and friendly. I dropped off the locks and returned an hour later, but it probably takes about 10-15 min per lock. Don't expect a deal for hardware, but they carry items not found in the big box stores. I called & B Lock around 2:00 pm to have them unlock a door in my house. (I had lost the key). The technician said that they usually charge $45, but if I can wait til 4:30-5, they'd charge me $35. I said I'd wait. The technician, Andy, called my house 5 minutes before he arrived around 4:35. The lock on my door is old and requires a skeleton key so I was worried that it would be difficult, especially because it took him a couple of minutes, but he got the job done within 5. Great place, took less than a minute to have two of my keys duplicated. Only $2.50 for both keys - meaning $1.25 for each duplicate. I got them in separate colors too which is nice. Service and getting the job done, I'm sure is top notch. The ding off the 5 star is I walked into the store and someone came but he was on the phone for like 10 minutes before he finally assisted me. I had to make a duplicate of my valet key for my 2005 Lexus. I was told by the dealership that without the master key, I would have to reprogram the car to even add any keys to the vehicle's system. This would cost around $140 for the key itself and the reprogramming to be done. So I found this place through Yelp, while looking for a nearby locksmith to make several copies of keys that I have. When I arrived, I could tell this is a family owned and operated business- which is where i want my business to go if possible. Also plenty of free parking (off street). I was greeted right away by their friendly staff. I needed about 5 different keys copied. Each key that I had went to a different type of lock (building/vehicle/motorcycle/front gate etc) B&B copied my keys for me in minutes- and they WORKED in all locks when I tried them. What a relief! It is so nice to not have to go back multiple times to get precision keys made-correctly. These guys did it right at inexpensive rates, THE FIRST TIME. They also have an awesome selection of safes and other security products. When I am in the market for a safe, I will definitely go back. These guys are my new "GO TO" locksmiths. I have only had one brief experience here, but it was so enjoyable that not only would I return, but I have no problem recommending them to others in a review. I'm not sure how to explain in writing what I went in for...but it had to do with a dead bolt lock on one of the doors in my warehouse. I wanted to change it from being keyed entry on both sides of the lock, to have a knob on one side, and a keyed entrance on the other side. If it sounds confusing written down...you should have heard me trying to explain it over the phone! Even still, the man on the other end of the line was incredibly patient and helpful. I didn't get the name of the sales associate who helped me, but he was REALLY awesome. I can tell you that leaving Mission Hardware and Home Depot confused and empty handed, this introduction was MUCH APPRECIATED. Over the phone and in person, the gentlemen who assisted me was really helpful and informative. I didn't catch his name, but he was the only one wearing glasses. LOL. He even explained to me how to change the lock out myself. Something I really thought didn't need to be explained at the time, but as I was installing the knob, I was so glad he took the time to tell my unappreciative butt. If he wouldn't have explained some things to me, it would have taken me much longer than the few minutes it did. I was really pleased and thankful with my experience here. I will be back! P.S. The place has locks, and so much more! Great one on one customer service, too. I have all my keys made here. Have a hard to match key? One that others say they can't reproduce? Have no fear, this place will take care of it. I have had a few keys made here others just couldn't or wouldn't do. For a scooter first (they actually asked me to bring the scooter inside to take a look at the ignition) and then for a motorcycle. I never asked the folks at Home Depot and a few other well known stores why they can't make these simple keys, and I don't care to know. All I know is I was told to come here and they'd do the job. Needed somewhere to copy a simple front door key. After reading the (not great) reviews of key-copying at the large hardware store near me, I wanted to find a local small business to support. I came in the afternoon on a weekday and had no wait. I was in and out with my key copied in less than 5 minutes! I will call them again, because the quality of the work is excellent, and relatively prompt and affordable. Had I gone to Toyota, I would likely have had pay more than an arm and leg. My only reservations were that the technician was a bit late, and then their VISA by phone did not work well (better to have cash on hand in the future maybe), but we worked through both. I'm serious - it costs about $3.80 to get a blank car key from China, these guys charge $4 for a fully cut key. All their keys are priced like this. They are the worst people to hire to fix your gate they fixed my gate three times and every time they say it's a different problem and they charge for it, they never fixed the actual problem I have paid $600 so far, they do not guarantee their work whatsoever !! Garage door would come down and go right back up on its own (May 2016). Called B & B on recommendation from another homeowner in my complex. The problem is intermittent, but I read online that it is hitting the concrete too hard and travel limit needs to be adjusted. It actually occurred while the repair person was present. Supposedly the problem was repaired, but I asked for a warranty and was given 30 days. Problem kept reoccurring and called within 30 days. Same person came out to see it, but could not offer a solution except that I consider replacing motor. To this day I have to wait about 5 seconds after door closes to make sure it doesn't go back up again. $40 charge. Last Friday, January 13, 2017 my garage door cable came loose. Called B & B again. Same repair person came out to fix the problem. No more than 10 minutes of work and charge was $100 which I thought was excessive. Hope I do not have anymore problems with this garage door motor since I have sunk $140 into it. If I have anymore problems I will replace it, but will not go with B & B. read more
