I visited this little 'key shop' many MANY years ago and decided to come back again today to get some simple house keys duplicated since I was in the area. Good to know that the shop is still in business and nothing have really changed. I was helped by a very nice kid (son, or grandson of man sitting at adjacent corner?) and he was very attentive. Did great work and got my (spare) keys cut and it is working flawlessly for a mere few bucks! I recommend this over The Home Depot for both price and convenience. read more

When she went back, the guy wanted to charge her for making a new key fob and refused to replace the defective fob. The product quality and service were both very poor. If you have to go here, be diligent and you should inspect the product and test it before you pay. read more

"The Key Shop" is one of the last old-fashioned affordable Locksmith shops in the area. Possibly the last one. (Seriously, I imagine it will still be in business after the zombie apocalypse.) I wanted to duplicate a gate key. I go to Google Maps and all I see are automated key duplication kiosks or remote locksmiths (without a shop). Calling a remote locksmith to come to my house to duplicate a key seemed very overkill, so I went to one of the nearby KeyMe kiosk. The kiosk charged almost $11 (with tax) to duplicate a simple residential key. The duplicated key did not work so I had to contact customer service to get a refund. Through word of mouth (aka the very old and very cheap Chinese folk), I ended up at "The Key Shop". It is a tiny storefront just to the right of the 168 Market. As I stood in front of the shop, I felt like it was 20-30 years ago (and the store front also looked it). The locksmith was hidden inside so I had to call out a few times to catch his attention, passed the key to him, asked for one copy, and a couple of minutes later, it was done. (No unnecessary chitchat, just like the way I take my morning coffee. I live alone.) The price was super affordable, just a couple bucks to duplicate a simple key (unlike the bandit kiosks with their fancy A.I. and high-tech precision lasers that didn't actually get the job done. Though I, for one, welcome our A.I. overlords). It looked like the owner is the only worker. And the shop was opened every day with generous hours. As with any small one-person store, I think you should take the opening/closing hours with a grain of salt; he may open late and close early. Just shoot for the middle hours and you should be okay. There is a sign to the left of the 168 Market (with an arrow pointing to right) that also advertises The Key Shop and mentions a 24 hour mobile service. The mobile service phone number is 626-289-3549. The owner is one hard-working dude! When does he sleep? In the shop while waiting? Is that why I have to call out a few times? Am I too obsessively curious? (Reminds me of one of my favorite Chinese restaurant owners who did not take a day off for 30 years. God rest his soul.) read more

Very awful experience. I go there during my lunch hour and the window was closed. I called the number listed outside and the guy on the line said his worker must be out to lunch and to come back in 15 minutes. I go there 30 minutes later and the window was open but no one was working inside. I wait 5 or 10 minutes and the guy finally arrives, doesn't say anything to me, gets some key supplies from the office, and then as he started to leave again he tells me he can't help me for another 20 minutes. The guy behind me says, "You can't make any keys for us?". The worker responds back rudely and says, "I'm busy." This no way to run a business and not how you should take care of your customers. I went to this place to see if they could rekey a lock on my truck. The guy working there told me he couldn't do it and to come back when the boss is around. I went back a few weeks later and asked the gentleman behind the counter if he could rekey the lock. He told me to take my truck around to the front and he would see if he could fix it. I brought the truck to the front and told him how I went to another locksmith, who made me a duplicate key, but he couldn't get the lock to open. The boss, I'm assuming, took my key and jiggled it around the key hole and wound up unlocking the door. I was both amazed and embarrassed that he opened it when neither I, nor another licensed locksmith couldn't open it. The boss smiled and handed me back my key and then walked away without even asking for money for his time. Great service and very honest lock smith. read more

Ok. So, I called in advance and asked if they were going to be in to make me a spare. They said they were so I drove on over and nobody was at the station, which was frustrating because I needed to make a key copy. But maybe after 5 minutes, someone came back and made me a key copy. The process was so quick and efficient. I believe it also cost me $1.50? I could be remembering incorrectly. But even with the mishap of the scheduling, the price makes it quite worth it. I made a copy of a regular silver key for a flat rate of $5 and it took faster than a game of Candy Crush on my phone (less than 5 minutes). I just went here 15 mins ago 6/15/18 and i had gone to two other places that could not for the life of me make a key for my Kia Spectra which has no chip. He told me straight off that he thought it was funny that my key was actually a honda key but he would try it if the car was there. Beware of the wrong keys and ripped off prices . I went here over 5 years ago to get a house key copied. If you look in the picture, the one i bought was the purple happy face one. $2 I went home to see that it would go in the lock, but wouldnt turn. I am back years later and i requested a key for the same lock. He gave me the middle gold one, $2. Once again i went home to find that it did the same thing. So I went over to Mission Hardware(down the street) and asked the guy who worked the key area. I showed him my original key that came with the lock, (shaped like the far left key) and he said "the key has to look the same. Its a specific number". So he went on and made me an exact key for $0.50. I went home and it worked perfect. Went back to this key place where my mom told the man who made us the faulty keys that the other place said it needed to be specifically shaped, and he shooed us off saying "what do you want. I know how to make these keys, I work for a key place". When we told him we just wanted him to know that ripping people off is immoral and asked for his bosses phone number, he said he would call the police on us! A note is that the person that runs this business has trouble speaking sometimes. It's hard to understand what he says at times. You just have to be patient and you'll get quality service. read more

Ok, I take it back. The owner was a very nice man. He called me back and gave me his updated hours. I was able to drive back to the shop before he closed to have the keys made and it works. Very nice customer service! I got locked out of my apartment and the guy (probably the owner) quoted me the lowest price among all the other locksmith shops around San Gabriel area. He came right away in about 10 min with a friendly smile on his face through out the whole time and super politely insisted to take off his shoes when entering my apartment. I got my door opened in just two min! This super nice guy even returned me a little money and greeted me with "Happy New Year!" right before he left. Went there today to get a key to replace one that broke for my Honda. Having had broken remote keys before, getting replacement was a long and expensive proposition. There were times when I had to even go back two or three days later. Not today. Key Shop was able to replace my key in 10 minutes by using my valet key. He knew exactly what to do. Additionally, I paid considerably less than I did when I went to the Honda dealer (where I have had really bad experiences, but that's another story. Previously I have had house keys duplicated there and all has gone well. If this is typical of the way this key shop operates he's my man. read more

We just bought a used Honda Pilot that came with 1 car key so we had to get an extra copy made. So I bought a clean uncut from one from Ebay and was in search of someone who could help so we remember seeing this locksmith next to the 168 Supermarket. Went there and they were able to cut and program the key to work. All in about 15 mins and for a great price! I would totally recommend to go here to get your car keys done.
