Avoid! Really horrible experience, with evasive manager that wouldn't truthfully explain that *all*…read moreof the units in our area were broken into and it looks like the management replaced all the latches for the doors afterwards. Looks like over 20 units were hit including ours. Shady practices that made me distrustful as to what role management had in all of the break ins. Shameful. *UPDATE LATER SAME DAY, 24? HOURS AFTER BREAK INS*: Called Chicago Police, who sent two officers to meet me there who also noted the obvious break ins and repairs. Property manager still wouldn't acknowledge to us there were break ins, just that latches were damaged. She also wouldn't provide police with any details, although did give them the name of the regional manager but refused to provide any contact info for them. *UPDATE NEXT DAY, 48? HOURS AFTER BREAK INS*: Acting regional manager based in Dallas (not the person noted the day before) called me after I flooded their corporate offices with emails and calls, acknowledged there were at least 25 units broken into, and that he arranged for a local vendor to repair the latches overnight. He didn't understand why the property manager wouldn't acknowledge the thefts or repaired latches, claimed it was a training issue. He said they still haven't reviewed the video yet, but did not expect to catch the culprit based on that, but might be able to identify who did it via entry code logs. Basically, our valuables are gone ($20K+), fingers crossed insurance covers some of this, and we're obviously staying the hell away from this disaster of a storage company forever.

Awful experience. Was kicked out of my unit for laying my head down one morning after moving some…read morethings around in my unit with no prior violation or warning. Yes it's in the lease you sign but most people don't read that fine print and it's a completely absurd protocol. There is a big difference between a one time mistake and someone being homeless and repeatedly misusing a unit. Your company should be ashamed. This is not how you or this industry should be providing service. To have no warning whatsoever is beyond messed up. I clearly wouldn't have allowed myself to doze off If I knew my lease could be terminated. There was no need to act in this manner, and it's costing me hundreds of dollars when a simple warning would have sufficed. Realize how you affect people's lives when you make such a cutthroat policy. In addition, I was initially told it would just cause me to have my hours of access reduced, so clearly they just pick and choose how they want to act. This is how you lose business and customers of good people. I'm going to a medical school in September, and work as an elite trainer, and massage therapist in the city. I was treated like a piece of dirt and given 5 days notice to make arrangements and leave which is not enough time to for most people to change their whole schedule around to move a bunch of equipment out. I also overheard an employee say a woman had their lease terminated for just sitting down in her unit to charge a phone too. Seriously?!?!! What a nightmare, I suggest people not go here

My 1st visit was really good as Maria showed me around and explained how the units worked. Upon hearing that I would need my storage unit for a couple more weeks Maria extended my reservation to keep my rate and that really helped. On move in day I was given a phone call the day before, to check to make sure what time I was going to arrive. I was able to reschedule my time when I realised that the time slot didn't work any longer. The office staff were very flexible with helping me out. I was able to complete the whole moving process in less than 30 minutes. Overall I am happy with my unit I end up getting a 10 by 7 and a 1/2. I do like the ease of unloading my S UV into their docking station. I appreciate the climate control as it can get really hot during the summer and I was worried about my electronics. This was the true reason I picked this location even though about $50 more per month than the location about 2 miles away. All in all super excited about the fringe benefits of this location, To include utilization of a moving truck. The nice thing is that they allow you to use the moving truck up to 2 weeks from your moving date. This alone is going to save me a $150.

Unit was broken into and the robbers stole jewelry and other precious heirlooms - insurance covered nothing. If you store there you need receipts or appraisals for every single item- oh and they don't cover jewelry at all. There was no camera on the row where my unit was. When I moved out I saw that there is a camera now. 11 units were broken into and oddly only two in my row. Kind of seems like an inside job since they track each visit. I hardly ever went there. Plus the units broken into weren't consecutive and seemed more selective. The whole experience was a giant ripoff and a terrible waste of money. Plus I am certain they did nothing to investigate into who did this! Even though I filed a police report as I am sure the other 10 victims did I have no faith CPD looked into this. All in all - this is a terrible place to trust your belongings

Public Storage on Wells has been a perfect solution for me, from July through December 2020. The…read moreonline rental setup system is one of the best ecommerce experiences. It's a straightforward hand-holding through the entire process. (Goodwill gained) When I showed up to do recon, the guy on staff was great. I had my own two padlocks and was supposed to get stickers, but he went up to put them on after I left. Every staff member has been courteous and helpful on each of my many visits. (more Goodwill) Locks and boxes and packing material can be purchased on site, but I had all my own stuff. I rented a 10x10 that was clean and dry. I probably could have gone with a smaller unit if I made better use of vertical space, but I didn't want to stack my totes too high. They had a good 1st month deal plus a discount that lasted for some portion of my tenancy. Is tenancy the right word? I didn't live there. I read that a stealthy kid ran an extension cord into his unit and lived there secretly for awhile. Fridge, computer, bed--cheaper than a college dorm. There's no bathroom or plumbing though, so... I don't want to think about it. Negatives are trivial and few: The climate control was meh. Very hot in summer and cold in winter. You're not planning to move in so big deal. And the rolling garage-type door system could have been tightened up--I bashed my head a couple times because it didn't stay rolled up, but that's partially my fault. I recommend this Public Storage without reservation and commend the staff.
