Having eaten at many excellent Thai restaurants over the years I was very pleasantly surprised to have a superb meal at Ayuthai this evening. We started the evening with an appetizer of mussels, Thai calamari with chili sauce and papaya salad all of which were excellent. We then had a special crispy beef was sticky rice, green curry with shrimp, chicken sambal and barbecued honey pork ribs. All the dishes were freshly prepared with distinct and complex flavors. This is the such an authentic restaurant in Guilford with the best tasting Thai food I've ever had. The dishes are rich in flavor, Chef is not skimping on fresh veggies unlike other Thai restaurants. We stopped by for a quick dinner on a Sunday night during a short road trip and discovered live Jazz! The food had great flavor- kefir lime and lemon grass, and the music was lovely. We enjoyed the larb. The Jungle curry is heaped with veggies perfectly cooked. This is legit Thai food. When I need a good pad Thai, this is where I go. Some Thai food on the shoreline is very Americanized but this is authentic and reasonably priced. Som Siam is good but at those the prices, I'd rather go to Bar Bouchee, my current shoreline fave. iThai is very Americanized such that the pad Thai is actually sweet, missing that tangy flavor characteristic of most good pad thai. read more

Called at 5PM, and asked if we could sample for a wedding at 6:30. Arrived at 7:30, without a reservation and , Sia (owner) sat us personally. The 3 of us picked 2 entrees each to sample, and left the rest to Sia. What followed was best described as one of the best dinning experiences ever. Sia spent the rest of the evening with sample after sample, making us feel comfortable with our unorthodox selection for a wedding menu. His focus was on having fun, and we did. I have yet to find a Thai restaurant as good as Ayuthai, especially in The Valley. Not only did we often dine there, I used them to cater lunch meetings and everyone LOVED the food! Sai and his staff would go out of their way to ensure food was delivered hot and fresh, and always came out to say hello whenever we went there for lunch. Shrimp red curry and mango sticky rice are my favorites, but everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - is amazing. I also tried the paradise shrimp and the pad-ped chicken, and they didn't disappoint. This is the best Thai I have ever had. There is a party in my mouth when I eat here. My favorite is the special lamb chops and sticky rice. Ask Sai, he will show you how to eat it Thai style. It is even more amazing since this is the only way that I like lamb. I tried it just by chance. There are just so many great choices, however. Also, the vodka martini is the best I have ever had. Server was very personable but neglected to ask if soup or salad was preferred. I had to remind her. Papaya salad was overcharged by two dollars. Those ere two glitches. Entree took almost forty-five minutes after requesting all dishes to be served as ready, do not hold them. Basil chicken was ordered, but chicken with broccoli was served. Dishes lacked flavor and I'm experienced with dishes I ordered. The meal took over an hour and a half. Crazy wait time, uneventful food, and no apologies or adjustments for issues. We love Thai food and have had trouble finding an authentic Thai restaurant in the area until now. Ayuthai's food is wonderful...terrific, quality, fresh food and true Thai seasonings. Wonderful owners and staff...extremely accommodating and friendly who always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome and wanting to come back. We are now regulars and are always recognized graciously. We're eaten here many times and have also had takeout. While not an expert on Thai cuisine, I do know what I like and the Thai dishes we have had from Ayuthai are simply awesome. I wish the restaurant was a bit larger, but this is hardly a complaint. It is possible to ask the chef to modify the spiciness to your taste. I have never made a review in my life but I literally just downloaded this app to make a review about this place and their terrible service. My boyfriend and I ordered drinks, fried dumplings, and the chicken lettuce wraps to start. We ordered beef fried rice and a pho noodle with chicken and broccoli for entrees. They asked if we wanted it all together or the apps first, and we said apps first. After being almost finished with our apps, my boyfriend received his beef fried rice. I picked at his meal for about 15 minutes before asking about the whereabouts of my meal. The white waitress with brown hair came back saying she didn't remember my order and that she hadn't taken it. Then she went to "check on it" and I asked her "did you not remember taking my order for the chicken pho?" She said yes and that it would be ready soon. Since it had already been almost 25 minutes and my boyfriend had finished his meal, I told her to take it off because I wasn't going to have him wait and watch me eat. I also had already lost my appetite for waiting 25 minutes to get my meal and picking at my boyfriends instead. She then asked if I wanted to wait to take it to go..... why would I want to take a soup to go to drive 30 minutes home to heat it up and eat alone.... then she took a drink off the order so we assumed it was because I didn't get to have my dinner. Then she came back and said she took it off by mistake!!! and increased the bill again. This place has the worst service ever and the only waitress that could speak English was the most inconsiderate and sloppy worker I've ever seen. We had six people in our party. The food here is excellent! I ordered cashew chicken and it was the best I ever had. Had warm small pieces of pineapple that made it so flavorful. For some reason, they were short staffed in the kitchen and food was a very long time in getting served. We all were very hungry. Other than this, I would give five stars.
