12-22-24: On our way to church, we were met with a couple people handing out business cards to this new restaurant in Casa De Oro in Spring Valley, so we decided to try it out after church. Location: This used to be a vietnamese restaurant but was surprised to see that it has changed over. It is in the shopping center where Grocery Outlet is in. There is good amount of parking in this shopping center. Ambience: When we entered, we were greeted with friendly staff that was very welcoming. It was nicely decorated but only had a handful of tables inside. Will be difficult for bigger parties. Food: For appetizers, we ordered some fried eggrolls and the popcorn green beans. Both were great but our favorite was the green beans. It was perfectly cooked and the seasonings were yummy. We were even scraping the toppings and adding it to our sushi. For our mains, we ordered a couple sushi rolls, Shrimp Lover Roll and Sweet Hawaiian Roll. The Shrimp Lover had a very good amount of shrimp in it and the Sweet Hawaiian had tempura shrimp inside and spicy tuna on top, so this had a tiny bite to it. Hawaiian roll was also decorated with edible flowers, which was so pretty. We enjoyed both and definitely on the fuller size. We had to really take two bites to enjoy it. If made to choose though, I would pick the shrimp lover roll as my fave, but that's with a gun to my head. lol We also ordered a bento box. It came with miso soup and my dad ordered teriyaki chicken with california roll. The teriyaki chicken here has a very good sauce and also comes with veggies. This is on my top 3 teriyaki chicken dishes. When we came here, they also had a drink special to celebrate their grand opening. Price: The prices here is unbeatable. I have been to Ayumi on 3 occasions; 1 for take out which was my first visit and 2 times for dine in. All 3 visits were amazing and the reason I will keep coming back. The service is always spot on and everyone has a smile on their face when they greet you. I will add that this is a small spot so it may fill up quickly however the food and prices are definitely worth it! Some of my favorite dishes include the Citrus roll, the hamachi carpaccio, and the salmon skin HR. My boyfriend loves the Jalapeño Yuzu citrus sauce and adds it to everything. read more

Best sushi spot that I have tried. I am so glad that they opened so close to me. It's great to see that Campo Road has a Japanese/Chinese restaurant now. The fish is really fresh, staff is very very nice, and it is always so clean. The restaurant inside is small making it seem very welcoming and they have daily specials. Since they've opened we've been back so many times it's honestly my favorite after a long day of work. My go to items are hot and sour soup, last samurai roll, and gold dust roll. We ordered a lot of rolls and an egg drop soup and chicken chow mein and the sushi itself, did not taste great. It didn't taste terrible but it definitely did not taste fresh. I heard this was a good new place for Chinese so my friend and I had lunch there today. It was GREAT!!! I had Cashew Chicken and she had Chicken and Vegetables. Both were exceptional, fresh, and so tasty! The service staff is gracious and kind. Dine-in or take-out, we can confidently say that we have always had an excellent meal! AYUMI is a small, unassuming Chinese/Sushi restaurant in a strip mall on Campo Rd. There is a small sushi bar and 7 or 8 tables. The service is outstanding and everyone is very friendly. The choice of Sushi or Chinese is great, as not everyone likes Sushi (if you think you don't, try a 619 roll!!) The menu is several pages long and the assortment is fantastic! The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are decent. Everything is fresh and appealing. They even have real Wasabi We're pretty picky when it comes to Sushi and this place rivals the best we've had. We come once a week. It appears they do a great take out business as well. My mom is vegetarian, my son has allergies with shrimps but he loves sushi and this place can accommodate all of us with different food selections since they also cater Chinese foods besides sushi and Japanese dishes. Favorite new sushi spot in SD. I have super high standards when it comes to sushi. There used to be really only 1 places in SD I liked sushi. Thank goodness I found another, and so close to home! Ayumi makes perfect sushi in my opinion. Their fish is SO FRESH & you can tell it is high quality. Their tuna has a vibrant color & is not fishy at all like most places. Their hamachi is tender and mild and delicious. I don't doubt that every type of fish they serve is top notch. Their rice is perfectly cooked and the rice layer is perfectly thin. The rolls are a perfect size & did not fall apart. The sauces are incredible! I highly recommend trying their yuzu sauce on the side of the hamachi roll for dipping! It is so tangy and bright. Can't get over how great the prices are for such high quality fish. I will come back to this place at least twice a month because of it. Also, the staff is so friendly and kind. Ayumi is so good! Everything I try is good. Best sushi in east county! The servers are so nice and the food is hot when it comes out. Their baked rolls are really good too. It's a small place and gets very busy. If you live close call it in because tables are limited. They have great specials too! The prices are good but you'll want to try all their rolls! The sushi is fresh and you can tell the difference from other sushi restaurants in the area. We go at least 3 times a month. We definitely recommend giving them a try.
