Carne Asada Very big portion and great flavor

Great service, good happy hour, big portion on food. Server recommendations were great and loved everything we ordered

We decided to try lunch at this Peruvian restaurant. Food was pretty good. My wife had the chicken stir fried dish and I had the Milanese chicken dish. We also tried the chicken empanadas which were very good. Shocked they didn't have any diet drinks and the empanadas were good but not worth the steep price for only one? Come on. The good thing is they have buy 10 for $17.50 now that's a good deal. Bathroom was clean and the restaurant is pretty spacious. There's street parking in the front of the restaurant. Customer service was great. They didn't have yuca fries but they substituted my dish with plantains. Yes we recommend you try it and we'll come back.

I wanted to love this place sooooo bad. But also, to be fair we only had tapas and drinks. So lets start off with I didn't order any of the entrees because we wanted jalea and they dont have it on their menu. I wanted chicha but didnt see it on their menu and didn't bother asking. We walked in for happy hour after a visit to the aquarium down the block. It had just opened so it was empty but it filled up by the time we left. The drinks were strong and amazing, they tasted fresh & the bartender was so sweet and checked in with us multiple times. I think I only had two drinks and FELT them. I got the passion fruit Mojito and our friend got a pisco sour. Everything was great and fresh. The tapas were well portioned and flavorful. My biggest disappointment was the ceviche. I've had Peruvian ceviche before and this was underwhelming. The ceviche sauce tasted like a combo of Tostitos salsa with fresh onions & tomatoes. The empanadas were great and reminded me of puerto rican pastelios. The cool touch was the branding with the flavor of them, we got chorizo, beef & chicken they were all good but my fave was the chicken. We also got the arepas which I didn't care too much for. The chicharron de pollo was my favorite part. The chicken was juicy and crispy. The decor inside is really colorful and unique. Overall, I felt like it was an elevated Peruvian fusion restaurant that lacks a certain authenticity but has amazing drinks, service & ambience.

I'll be honest, when we decided to Peruvian food with a group of 13, 5 of which are children, we had a certain type of restaurant and price point in mind. With not a lot of time to choose, we called Ayahuasca in Norwalk. They had space for us so we went. We were pleasantly greeted and sat. The decor is modern, sophisticated, with ethnic touches. So here's when the honesty comes in, it isn't cheap! It was definitely Downtown Norwalk, nice restaurant pricing. We normally have no problem with this and enjoy finer meals, but with the group we were with, I wish we checked the menu first...$$. There is a very limited kids menu so some of the children ordered off the adult menu. With all of that said, the food and service were AMAZING! It was well worth the price point. Drinks were on point, appetizers were creative, authentic and tastes so good- a favorite being the mussels and the yucca fries! Trust me! My paella appeared smaller than I've seen but with the amount of apps were ordered, it was just right. The tiger shrimp on top were soft and sweet. Absolutely incredible! I can't wait to go back... with my husband (leaving my kids at home). It is a lovely place for a date night! The owners were personable and chatted with us a bit and made sure everyone was happy. They have another location in New Canaan! Check out my Instagram foodie account @datenightcraves

Discovered this gem after a visit to the nearby Maritime Aquarium. What a great find! The restaurant is fairly small and has a small bar, but it is nicely decorated (see the pics!) and the ambiance is casual and friendly. We started out with beef empanadas which were lightly dressed with an onion and vinegar dressing. Both were delicious. We then moved on to our main dish of Lomo Saltado. I had never had this before but understand it is a Peruvian favorite. That too was delicious! It was served nice and hot one bite convinced me that this was somewhere I was going to come back to! Enjoy the pics!

Being Peruvian I always look for Peruvian restaurant. Found this place and aside from it not serving alcohol the food was delicious. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Located in SONO this was a fun find. Very authentic menu and feel to the restaurant. They mean business with their cocktails! I had a caipirinha drink first and had to trade with my dining partner and take his Ayahuasca cocktail because it was so strong. I also had their version of sangria and it was also very strong and really felt like a ton of red wine with oranges mixed in (no complaints here!). I loved that the bartender came over and asked us how we liked the drinks. For a starter, I went with the Chicharron sliders which had a nice kick of spice. The menu isn't huge but everything sounded so good - it was hard to decide! For our main dishes, we tried the arroz chaufa which was huge (so much rice!) and very nice with the fried egg on top. I could have gone with a bit more spice here. The other dish we tried was arroz con mariscos and this was also a huge portion with an array of seafood flavors going on. The rice in this dish had more flavor than the chicken dish. Both were super filling and delicious. Price-wise, not bad at all for the area, quality of food and portions. I was surprised at how quiet the restaurant was on a busy Friday night in the area- people are definitely missing out by not giving it a try!

We chose to celebrate our 39th anniversary here. Ordered the paella and rotisserie chicken. Absolutely delicious. Sangria too! Service timely and friendly. Love the ambiance. We will return!

Talk about last minute birthday decisions! So last year on my birthday I had a friend order…read moretakeout and we had it at their house. This year for my 35th, I was on my own for dinner this time around. That being said, I think I found a winner here to celebrate my 35th birthday. Say hello to Lazy Sister, located in the heart of South Norwalk where the restaurant scene comes alive! Because I was a single coming in, I was seated right away, no reservation needed. They were even kind enough to place my bag in the atrium so that I wouldn't have it in the way. I was seated at a table set for two, but it's a good thing I guess that I came on my own. First thing I notice upon coming in is that it is a very classy restaurant, not your typical dim sum joint. It's also not a big space, but that's fine by me. Honestly, this would make a great date night spot for anyone going out on a date. Funny enough, I was actually suggested this place by my friend the night I went to Jacob's Pickles. For reasons I am about to get to, I am glad I decided not to come here until a later date. So why would I say that? Well, because tonight, my order consisted of two Junmai Genshu "Little Sumo" sakes as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari, a medium level Dry Fry Style Szechuan Chicken, and then the Fortune Cookie Soft Serve for dessert. Not only did I pay more here, but I also got more inebriated here than I did at Jacob's Pickles. But it's my birthday, so tonight it's not in my contract to care. You only live once, and I am already in like the middle of my life, so it all evens out, right? Speaking of the food, everything I ate was immaculate! The calamari was seasoned perfectly, vegetables were cooked and crisp, the spice from that Szechuan didn't overpower. It was more like a pleasant tingle, especially when mixed with water or sake. Everything was done just right. And that soft serve cooled me down in just the right way. Delicious and well worth finishing off the night! And while there were other drinks that definitely looked good, I couldn't say no to sake. That's like THE ultimate celebratory drink far as I'm concerned, and it was awesome! If you were wondering about the service, these people are quite friendly. They help you through anything you might need. While I waited a while to tell them, I did eventually tell my waitress it was birthday while I was on dessert. Cool enough, we are both Tauri! I love it when I get to talk to another Taurus! :) The bill was also why I am glad I waited for another occasion to come here. Because I decided to splurge, the affair was about $100 once tip was factored in. It was well worth it, and tonight's outing will definitely make for a fun story to tell. But 34 was a hard year. I deserve to let loose every now and then, and hopefully 35 will be a happier age. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the money to come here.

We started off with the chili oil dumplings which were super flavorful! For entrees we got the Mongolian beef and the shrimp fried rice. Fried rice was my favorite -- didn't need any soy sauce or duck sauce bc it had enough flavor on its own. For drinks I got the lychee drink which was on the sweeter side for my personal taste. Overall, loved my experience and can't wait to go back to try more menu items.

The chicken was the highlight, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and really well seasoned. You can tell it was freshly made. The cornbread was also really good, soft, warm, slightly sweet, and even better with the sorghum honey butter. The mac & cheese was great. it was rich, creamy, and felt homemade in the best way. I'm not usually a fan of cole slaw, and this one was a bit watery, I should have asked if I could swap it out. The desserts were a highlight too, the peach empanada was nice and warm, buttery, paired perfectly with the ice cream and icing, and the banana pudding was smooth, classic, and comforting with the nilla wafer crumble and fresh banana. Even my starter arugula lemon vinaigrette salad was delicious. Service was excellent and attentive, and the ambiance is definitely upscale and stylish. Overall, it's on the pricier side, but that feels expected for the quality and setting.

The dining room at the new location is fantastic. Open and bright. Much better than the older location down by the aquarium, which is now a new Jamaican restaurant. The place was crazy busy for Mother's Day. We arrived early, but the kitchen was instantly overwhelmed. It took over an hour to get our entrees. Not really all so bad since we got to spend extra time with our dear mother, and the food was exceptional when it finally arrived. I recommend going at a time that isn't quite so busy for a better experience.

Sadly, just like the rest of the recent reviews I was quite disappointed by what I encountered. Everyone working was super friendly and attentive which was nice but I didn't recognize anyone working there. I didn't pay much attention to that but when the menu came it was greatly reduced and trying to be more "upscale". it felt odd as the main draw of Valencia for lunch was that it was fast, casual, affordable and delicious. I usually get the lunch combo that came with an aerpa, empanada, rice beans and ceviche but that wasn't on the menu that I saw. I ordered the street corn to start and got the bowl with a pernil arepa. The bowl was a large portion and everything was fresh. Taste wise things were pretty good but didn't blow me away. The pernil was only ok and that should have been the star of the show. I had to ask for aji and I was only given a small dish with some hot sauce as well. In the past your server would just hand over a bottle of aji and let you go to town. The food was decent, but not close to what I remember. The biggest let down was when the check came. I know things are expensive all over but lunch was $41 for some street corn, a jeujed up chipotle bowl and a coke. That seems wild. There was also a charge added for the kitchen which I get but it still feels odd to see additional service charges on an already expensive meal. As far as the renovations go it honestly didn't really seem like anything changed inside, maybe some fresh paint and tile? Unfortunately I will probably not return any time soon or even at all.
