The vibe of this restaurant was great, but my experience was ruined by the service and the lack of accountability afterward. We had a large party where everyone paid separately, some card some cash. We found out that she over charged us by $200 on top of her tip. We didn't realize it because it was my boyfriend's birthday and we were rushing to the next spot.It felt dishonest and uncomfortable when we started adding up how much everyone paid and it didn't make sense. I called the restaurant afterward hoping to speak with a manager, but instead I got the runaround and never received a call back. I don't think this will be a place we visit as much as we used to. Waitresses seem to have a weird relationship with their managers - very unprofessional. I sat for 20 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me - the manager made eye contact with me and I showed him the menu saying we were ready to order. He talked to a waitress and points at us so she could come help us. This place was more than what I expected. My friends had put together a mini pre bday brunch. When we arrived it was nice and chill which I loved but once we got settled in the DJ came out and played awesome R&B and Hip-Hop (a mix of 90's, 2000's, and today). The vibes were real! Not only was the ambiance lively but the food and drinks were more than I expected to. I hate to say I was not a fan. I tasted zero alcohol in the drinks, they tasted so sweet and like pure mix. When I tried to return the flight, the waitress didn't allow me to (I took one sip..) but she was nice enough to offer me a shot on the house but one shot...for 3 drinks? Ok? I appreciated the effort but I would've preferred to just return the drinks. Then we ordered the $50 birthday package and it was fun! But an employee rolled over a cart of tequilas and pressured my friend to take the shot (pressured as in poured it for her, handed it to her and chanted shot shot shot!) so she took it. That said, the manager was very accommodating. We were initially sat at a table where there was a leak from above, but he quickly moved us to a better spot and even comped us a tower of shots, which was a nice gesture. Went on a random Sunday, kind of empty, music was really good and up beat. Our server (forgot her name) was very cheerful and sweet also attentive. Our orders came out fast. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. At first it came out with rice and beans. The person who brought it out asked me did I want them? I thought it was odd so I just turned them down and ate the quesadilla by itself then I believe 15 minutes later my server brought out the same rice and beans which I knew were cold by then and asked if I wanted them (on the menu it says it comes with rice and beans but 1st server was so eager to take them away from me so I didn't understand how they became an option randomly all of the sudden going back and forth but I still had to pay full price) All and all it was just okay... First off with the good: Mayra our waitress was very kind & had an uplifting mood which was refreshing and was quick to take our order. The food was pretty good and decent BUT I'm not sure if it was because I was so hungry because we waited so long and they were pricey but that's expected now and days and honestly you can't expect much from restaurants now and days because they usually have not worth it food and make up for it with good ambiance but $18 for drink + $26 for the tacos it was decent in quality. The need to be improved: 1. The wait time for the food‍SO LONG waited like close to an hour to get our food. 2. Reservations are apparently useless because we reserved for 5 inside for a birthday celebration and they hit us with "there's nothing we can do we have 2 bigger parties that need to be seated inside because it's another companies party" like they should've taken that into consideration and made up for it in some type of way then to have other people who reserved to celebrate wait and be treated like they were unnecessary. They could've at least accommodated us for something for the long wait even with a reservation especially cuz we're celebrating a birthday and I never heard of automatic gratuity being charged automatically for 5 people. And they had like an extra additional useless fee they slid in on top of that. 3. Also never heard of a restaurant that makes u pay to get the birthday celebration/shout out. $50-$350 4.the complimentary bread and chips and salsa legit came an hour later after we got our food like at that point we didn't even realize we were supposed to get that. This place has a lot of potential but needs to be more intentional and accommodating with their customers and not expect their party vibes to be able to make up for everything else they lack. Because for a pricey celebratory place we EXPECT effective & convenient service & to feel welcomed and appreciated not. "There's nothing we can do behavior" and not taking accountability for anything not working. Everything was great until our server came back at 10:40pm almost a hour after we arrived and stated that the kitchen was not going to make our food. Apparently she didn't put the order in and the kitchen refuse to make our food after we waited a whole hour. It's disappointing because I was actually looking forward to trying this restaurant but their customer service is really bad. The kitchen should have made our food because we ordered our food way before the kitchen closed. To make matters worse worse we weren't the only table it happened to and they were there before us. The manger never came over to apologize instead they try to compensate by giving us free shots. I remember coming here a couple years back to when they barely opened, their food was definitely better than it is now the "tacos" we're definitely not authentic Mexican food. They were almost rare. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I'm writing this as we are sitting at the bar and a clearly newer female bartender cleared my espresso martini before I was even done drinking it. That was our last straw. I ordered the Ay Mi Pa Roll not realizing they have an AMP roll AND also an Ay Mi Pa Roll on the menu. I assumed the AMP roll stood for Ay Mi Pa. I'm pretty confident I can't be the only customer to make this simple mistake. The AMP roll shows on the menu it is on fire. What they do is simply torch it in front of you. Never was it on fire. Misrepresentation of what is on the menu. The male bartender was on his phone and also enjoying his lunch at the bar with his back to us. Us and the other 2 customers sitting at the bar didn't even get so much as a 'How is your day going' from either bartender. This place lacks customer service and a welcoming environment.
