The woman helping us immediately gave us attitude and said they "can't" do that because the potato tacos are premade. That explanation made even less sense once the food came out. My girlfriend's potato tacos were served flat/open, while my dad's meat tacos came out hot in hard shells. So they clearly have hard shells and are actively serving them--we were simply asking for potato instead of meat in one. And nowhere on the menu does it explain that this isn't possible. In fact, the menu specifically labels other items "2 SOFT TACOS" and "2 HARD SHELL TACOS," while the potato option simply says "2 TACOS." It doesn't say soft, doesn't say they're premade, and doesn't say hard shell isn't an option. If there's some legitimate kitchen reason they can't put potato in a hard shell, that's fine. Just explain it politely and put it on the menu. Instead, the woman acted like we were asking for something completely ridiculous and was unnecessarily rude about a very simple request. Customers shouldn't be expected to know your kitchen's unwritten rules and then get an attitude for asking a question your own menu doesn't answer. Fix the menu or fix the attitude. Preferably both. We definitely won't be coming back

Zacatecas is a family owned, authentic, traditional Mexican style restaurant, and they've been open since 1969. You know this place is good because they close at 3pm everyday and they stay in business. We ordered 2 Large Menudos and 1 Shredded Beef Taco and I did find the pricing very steep. It was almost $50. The menudo, alone, was $19 each. The menudo is full bodied and rich in flavor. This is one that actually doesn't need a lot of lemon because of that. It includes the menudo spices, oregano, lemon, cilantro, onions, and corn tortillas. I can make 2-3 meals out of the portion, so it's definitely shareable. This was the 1st time I was absolutely disappointed in the shredded beef taco (due to packaging). We got it to go and they wrapped it in foil and placed it between two hot bowls or menudo. By the time I got home, the cheese was melted and the lettuce was completely wilted. It made it almost inedible. If you dine in, they actually give you hot mole sauce to enjoy with your chips and salsa but if you get it to go, they charge you. I don't understand that but that's how it's always been. This restaurant also offers catering and can host events up to 150 people. Something to keep in mind if planning a party or event. The ambiance is perfect of an evening event. The cooks are still always very quick to make the food (typically 10 minutes or less of a wait), the service is great, and the food is always consistently SO good! I think my favorites are their BRC burrito and their ground beef tacos. The tacos are ALWAYS PACKED with beef and cheese. They don't put loads of beans in their burritos either, so it's a nice mix of BRC, which is what I love. I am just now realizing I have no pictures of the food I have gotten because I tend to eat it pretty quickly when I get it, but the images in the Yelp gallery are usually what you'll get. I have never had a bad experience with the food here! The only thing, that has been bad in my experience is issues with their soda fountain. I feel like any time I have ordered the diet or Pepsi zero (that's the only soda I drink-zero sugar/diet), it ends up tasting low on the syrup/taste. Very good. The burrito was also very large and filling but the pork wasn't tender at all. Almost as if the meat was cooked earlier in the week. The refried beans were very flavorful and delicious. The cost of $20 seemed to be a good value. I will be back for the tacos but my switch out the chile verde.
