Ay Caramba is my go-to place for tacos and Mexican "fancy streed food" now. The restaurant mainly does takeout business with a few dining tables inside the restaurant. They offer mix and match tacos ($19.99 for 3, $29.99 for 5), quesadilla, taquito and etc at reasonable price. I came here many times and tried quite some varieties on the menu. My favourite items include the spicy chorizo quesadilla, the crispy chorizo taquito, fish taco and el pastor taco. The taco skin really has the nice taste of the corn and flavour of stuffing is also perfect. The servers and the owner are all friendly. We stopped by this restaurant for dinner and had a positive experience. The restaurants aesthetic is casual and makes you feel like you are in Mexico with bench tables and decor. The service is really good and the employees are really friendly. The Food: We ordered tacos and taquitos. The tacos were really good but the corn tortilla was served cold, which did t help me love the tacos too much. With that being said, the taquitos were amazing. The corn tortillas were crunchy and the filling was caliente (hot). I ordered 5 crispy taquitos with chicken filling and chorizo (sausage) on top and it was delightful. My first time here was many years ago before the pandemic. I was craving tacos one day and stumbled upon this place. I must say this is truly one of the hidden gems of Vaughan. My favourites are the Fish Tacos and their Churros! Their salsa chipotle and salsa jalapeño are to die for, they are both amazing sauces! Ensure you check out their operating hours as they are a bit strange (especially on weekends) and they are a bit pricy. Ay Caramba delivers true Mexican flavor. I love the atmosphere around here with the little booths and lighting decor. The owner is extremely friendly and has passion about the food that they serve. Most of the dishes are house made. I love their secret hot sauces. Not so secret now but I highly recommend you ask for them. Portions are very generous for real tacos. The chicken and beef were incredible with such great flavor. The fish was super delicious with a good chunk of haddock. The churro was perfectly cooked and not overly oily. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside the way it should be. I like the way they serve their menu here with a flat price of five or three tacos. You can mix and match them any way you want or order all the same. There is no difference. If you are in the Vaughan area, this spot is a must visit for some delicious tacos! I came by with my brother for a late lunch, and we were the only ones eating in. There are a few more tables outside though would still only recommend for small groups. I got 5 tacos ($25.65) - Alambre, campechano, brisket, carnita, and the poyito. My favourites were the alambre, fish, and poyito tacos. I didn't think pineapples on a taco was a thing but the alambre certainly made it work! The fish was crispy and the mild chipotle kick of the chicken was perfect for my tolerance. Everything was devoured within minutes! The tacos came with both a mild and spicy salsa to dip as well, which added even more flavour. I got a Jarritos to pair with the tacos though there are even more options from nachos, churros, to other Mexican drinks. Been wanting to try this place for a while and last time I was in the area they are closed Sundays. Finally finally got to try this place a week or so ago. Got 5 tacos total including: brisket, carnita, potato power, alambre and fish. Really great stuff. Favorite was the carnita but the potato power was a close second. Didn't expect the potato power to be that good since it didn't have any meat in there but it was seasoned to perfection. The salsa dips they gave one mild, one spicy were also essential for the taste. Enjoyed all 5 tacos and even if you aren't that hungry you can go for 3 as well. LOVE this restaurant! It's a bit tucked away but so incredibly glad I found it. The interior of this place is small and hip. It had a few tables for dine in when we were still able to eat indoors. I wouldn't recommend big groups to dine in as you may not have a place to sit. The woman who helped us was so sweet and recommended their bestsellers for my partner and I. She even recommended a couple drinks to pair with it: a homemade rice coconut drink and a sparkling nonalcoholic wine. Every taco had such great flavour. This is a great spot to go to in Vaughan for tacos! Food is yummy and service is very friendly. We decided to order the carnitas, the al pastor, beef brisket, and the fish tacos. They were all pretty flavorful, and I loved all the spicy salsas that came with the tacos. My favorite was probably the beef brisket, it was so juicy and flavourful. The carnitas and fish were quite good as well. I liked the al pastor too, however I got a fatty piece of meat in it which I was not a fan of. Another favourite that we ordered was the ChilaquiNachos. They were absolutely delicious, with beans, tomatillo sauce, sour cream, and topped with chorizo. So yummy!! Would 100% order this again next time. More precisely, this authentic spot is located at the end of a plaza off the Hwy 400 so you have to look hard to find it. The tacos are tiny (the baja fish is half size of regular from downtown) although the price is 1/3 cheaper than downtown; indeed I wish they charge more and server bigger size. They are tasty though. The tacos looked small but they were generous with the amount of filling so they were more than enough for me. All three fillings tasted great and were full of flavour. My personal favourite was Taco chorizo as I am a big fan of chorizo and I would highly recommend it! The bag of chips can be shared by two people but I didn't like the two salsas that came along with it. My new fav Mexican place.. if I'm in the area. The location is a bit far for me and they close pretty early on weekdays so it's hard for me to make it there after work. But workers there are so nice and the food is amazing so when I have the craving it's worth making the effort. We tried a bit of everything - taquitos, burrito,tacos, nachos and their special drinks. This place is small and casual, and the prices are reasonable. You order and pay at the counter then they bring the food to your table. The have bottled Coca-Cola made in Mexico where the sugar used is different. It's not a lot sweeter but a Coke lover would instantly taste the difference. We also tried the Mexican Street drink Horchata and the server patiently opened it up and mixed it for us before handing it over. It was a sweet coconut drink that was really refreshing. The taquitos were also loaded with toppings like salad and comes with small guacamole for dipping. All of their tacos were delicious but our favorite was the fish burrito. When I first saw the Yelp reviews for this place, I thought we definitely needed to try this place. We were finally in the area and had the time to give it a try. I must admit, I was a bit dissapointed - Possibly due to all the stellar Yelp reviews my expectations were quite high. Upon entering, there is very limited seating for about 15 ish people. It was spacious enough and did not feel over crowded but please note there is no washroom on site. The decor was modern, rustic and quaint. We were very plesantly greeted and attended to, although this place felt a bit more of a order, sit down to eat quick and go style place rather then a full restaurant. Also the menu was not very extensive as a full sit down restaurant, so keep your expectations in check. But having said that, for what it is and what was offered this place is quite quite tasty. We ordered the original trio (carnita, el poyito and chori cheese) along with the Tortas. The corn tortitllas tasted great, and was quite similar to what we had tried in Mexico. Everything was again, quite tasty. But quantity wise, it was not filling and if your a big eater you may want to look elsewhere. For what we ordered it came out to a little under $20. So it was quite fair, but again its definitely not a bang for your buck type of place. If your into quality, this place may be for you as again it is tasty. All the meats tasted flavourful and juicy. A nice little thing too is that the chips offered while eating in tasted awesome. Not overly salty or processed. If we are in the area again, I wouldnt mind coming back to see if they had anything else that was more fulfilling. But I cant help but feel I may have missed something on this visit. read more

I heard of this place from Yelp and remembered that it had a high rating. Hoped by after shopping at Ikea since it was close enough to check it out to see if it was worth it. The place had more seating area than I expected but still a small space. The walls/ceiling was decorated with wooden crates. There was a tv with an image of waterfalls which I thought was out of place. The man who took our order was friendly and explained us the different types of meat. It was nice that it came with chips and salsa. However there wasn't enough salsa for the amount of chips given. My burrito was filling, had a spicy kick to it since he didn't ask me of the spice level I wanted. However it didn't have all the toppings I like from Burrito Boyz. It also felt smaller in size. The three tacos looked small and I felt it didn't have enough veggies on top. The downside is that there's no washroom. And I had to go!! Growing up watching The Simpsons and never having the opportunity to set foot in South America, my experience with the term Ay Caremba was limited to the catch phrase often uttered by Bart Simpson. But ever since I stumbled upon Ay Caremba, Eh, a Mexican joint hidden in the deepest depth of a strip plaza in Vaughan, the meaning of and context of the phrase had grown in a multi senses type of way. I'm willing to say that this restaurant offers one of the most authentic Mexican food experience in the GTA. Much better than most of the overhyped options downtown. I've been to this place five or six times and they always deliver every single time. If I go into depth about each and every item I've had, I would be writing a multi page essay here. So to summarize, it doesn't matter if it's the quesadilla, chorizo taco, beef brisket taco, carnita taco, fish tacos, and nachos; No matter what you get it will be an exotic burst of flavour. Nachos and tacos both possess the proper strong corn taste and the meats and fish are all cooked to the correct texture. They also have different chili sauces for people with different palettes and heat tolerance. My friend and I went here for lunch. Initially, it was just us but within 15mins, the place was crowded with people waiting to be seated. This isn't a full service restaurant so when it gets busy, wait time is even longer because there's only 1 person working the counter and the same person delivering the food. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself to any available table. The place is bright and has decors that would make you automatically think: Mexico! The food was good but the taco size is a bit small for my liking. I ordered the any 3 tacos for 11.99 - 2 fish and a beef alambre tacos. Fish was crunchy and fresh. The beer was flavourful and came in chunks. As well, there's a complimentary nachos with dips and hot sauce. We also got the taquitos (4 for 4.99) which was my favourite! Arguably one of the best and most authentic tacos in the GTA. This is a really tiny and intimate shop with one server and you order at the front. The tacos are the perfect size to allow you to sample all flavours. Price is also decent and not overly expensive. We ordered chips & guac and 5 tacos to start. We got Fish, Chorizo, Carnitas, and Chorizo and beef. All the ingredient used were really fresh. The lettuce was crunchy and crisp. It wasn't wilted at all. Even the cilantro used was fresh AF. Its so fresh I'm almost sure they chop them fresh everyday. The guac was incredibly fresh. It was as if the avacado was mashed to order. However, I wouldn't call this guac as it was mashed avacado with no seasoning and just some onion and tomato sprinkled on top. The fish was nicely fried and the batter wasn't too thick at all. The only this was the fish was room temp so slightly cold. I would advise eating it fresh so that the taco and fish doesn't get soggy with all the ingredients. The carnitas probably the best one I've had. It was soft, and juicy. The best part is, the meat didn't taste dry like it has been sitting in a pot for hours and days. I highly recommend this one! The Chorizo and the chorizo beef is spicy so if you can't eat spice I would advise against it. Otherwise it's packed with a bunch of flavours and the closest to a typical "Americanized taco." We were still hungry after sharing the 5 tacos as they are relatively small so we ordered another 3. We got another fish, the Cajun chicken and the beef brisket. The chicken was packed with meat and it was so juicy and flavorful. The Cajun packs a nice punch. The beef brisket is also super juicy and tender. I'm super amazed at how all the pulled meat taste. They were all super soft and sooo incredibly juicy. I usually don't like pulled meat because they're always dry and stringy to me. Overall, this is my new favourite taco joint. This has always been one of the best places that I would recommend it to everyone and anyone if they are looking for Mexican up in Vaughan area. Good food, great service and friendly atmosphere. The tacos and nachos are my favourite. They take pride and certainly pours in lotsa love into the food. Even at the front desk, Karen is so helpful and attentive. They were recognized as one of the Top 10 Mexican Eateries in the GTA according to Yelp! It's a small restaurant with just a large communal table and a few smaller tables scattered along the sides. There is a large menu right behind the counter where you go up to order. They also have complimentary chips and dip for you to try while you're ordering. On their menu they have an assortment of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more. According to local expert Kris U tacos are the way to go here (although you can't really go wrong), so I listened and ordered 3 tacos: chori-cheese, poyito, and pescado. All of them were delicious but the chori-cheese was definitely my favourite. Top it off with some extra house made hot sauce...YUM YUM YUM! While you're waiting for your food they bring an additional basket of chips w/ their house made hot sauces. I can't remember which was which, but their green sauce was my fave! They also serve up house made horchada. I didn't get my own, but I tried a little bit of Kris U's and it was really good! This is worth the drive from anywhere in Toronto and GTA. For a Saturday evening, it was surprisingly quiet. I ordered "The Three Amigos" tacos which seemed like the best bang for your buck. You can choose your tacos from a pre-determined list. I had the Fish Haddock, Beef Brisket, & Carnita tacos. The quality of my tacos were impressive, the shells were hand-made yummy and their meat was prepared perfectly. My favourite out of the three was the haddock, the fish was sooo crispy! The only drawbacks? There are a couple. I waited half an hour for my order (but everything was freshly made so I can't be too hard on them). Their hot sauce was extremely mild (I need spice!!) And as much as I enjoyed my order, it was a small portion for three expensive tacos. If I'm ever in the area, I would consider coming back.
