It's a new way of doing something with the family. We were thinking of doing bowling but we wanted something different. This place is better. The staff are welcoming and gave safety instructions. Its fun for th e family

Best date day ever. Cool vibe! Friendly staff. Cool with groups or just your date. Good space and lots of choices to throw, different size acts and knifes. I'm sure there are names for them all. I'm just a rookie. The best part is the old school vibe. Pen to paper score keeping.

It was a very fun and cute date! The stuff were also very nice! Highly recommend for a simple and competitive date

Was in town looking for a family activity to do and stumbled on AxeVentures! Dope spot, it was glow in the dark night which was a vibe. Axe throwing is tough!

Was looking for things to do on wifeys birthday which was a Wednesday and came across this place. You can register online or pay in person. They have seven lanes to throw axes. Peter was the instructor and showed us how to throw the axes. They have four axes per lane. After playing several games and tying the wife we took a couple pictures in front of their picture walls. (2) They have board games to play when not using or waiting for the lanes. Overall had a great time and will definitely be back!

My first time here. Hubby brought me here for some birthday fun. Peter was friendly and got us checked in pretty quickly. he showed us what to do and went over the safety rules. We had a fun time. Great music playing so it was nice vibe. Since we came as soon as they opened on a Wednesday afternoon so we had the place to ourselves. They have board and other games here to play as well. We will definitely comeback and bring our sons to play.

Friends invited me to AxeVentures for my 20th birthday and we played for 75 minutes. SO fun and exhilarating -- those 75 minutes passed by in a flash. They have a decent assortment of different axes with various weights and shapes to accommodate all players, and the coaches walk you through the entire process + safety before you begin play. They also provide clipboards with different games and rules for groups that want to play for points or compete! Definitely one of the more unique activity spots in Berkeley -- will definitely be coming back to de-stress from finals.

Stumbled upon this activity through Groupon. Location is nice as it's near some good restaurants so you can grab some grub before heading over. It was easy for me to find parking on the street as well. The staff is nice and efficient. They do a quick tutorial which is very much needed since I've never thrown an axe. There's some binders that have game ideas so that you and your group can have some sort of competition. There's snacks (like oreos, candy, etc) for sale, but it seems you can bring in your own food too (probably not alcohol though.. that would be a dangerous mix). I got bored after a while, so we didn't stay our full allotted time, but I'm glad I tried it.

This little spot is a whole in the wall hidden gem. My boyfriend randomly booked a 1 hour and 15 minute session for us and his 4 friends yesterday since it was raining and it's a cool indoor activity. It was a good deal, $200 for all 6 of us. You get there, sign a waiver, then the coaches quickly provide an overview of how to throw the axes / safety briefing, from there you get to get to it. They have instructions for games you can try, but we just did 3 on 3 and counted our points. Time flies so I definitely recommend booking longer than an hour. There are 4 different axes that come standard but they have additional options you can pay extra for. You can also buy balloons/other targets which is cool. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it is literally axes, but I got the hang of it bit by bit and enjoyed myself! Everyone that worked there was cool and helpful. I'd definitely go back

I came for the neon axe throwing day and it's very fun. I came during spring break so it was very empty so I was able to use a couple of lanes at a time. I came with my +1 and it was fun and all but this would be more fun with a bigger party. With just 2 of you you end up getting tired quickly

This was such a fun and welcoming first-time experience! The booking was for 75 mins, which is plenty of time to have fun and get an arm workout out of it. The staff showed us how to safely throw the axe and tips on how to aim better. It was a quick tutorial but very helpful to get started; they're also available if you need help. There are 4 axe sizes you can play around with. The place was nicely decorated and well-kept. It does get hot and stuffy after a while if there are lots of ppl. Overall, I would def recommend this place for a fun activity. They also have a cool glow-in-the dark experience on weeknights!

Came here with just my brother and I. We reserved online in advance (just 2 hours before) for a Saturday night. It was super fun. We came in, signed a quick waiver, and were giving a run down on safety procedures and proper technique. We got escorted to back. There's were 4 or 5 axe options. You could also do add one of other throwing objects but we stick to the basics. They also had a book nearby with a few options of games you could play and ways of scoring. Overall, super fun and the staff were attentive. It was $35 for 75 minutes which was more than enough time for the 2 of us. There was a table and stools behind the lane to sit if you wanted. I could see it getting crowded if folks had bigger parties, though. Would definitely come back.

Axe retrieval after each throw is recommended due to the damage fees charged if the axe thrown hits another axe. A polite explanation, helpful guidance, or even suggesting another time to return would have made a big difference in how we felt leaving the establishment. On the day of our event, they arrived early to set up the cage at the venue. They gave safety instructions and tips on how to throw an axe. Everything was super safe and enclosed in a cage so there were no accidents. Derek and his team are professional, on time, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. One gripe I have is that I wish the workers were a bit more attentive. We went on Monday and there wasn't anyone at the front desk for maybe 10minutes. They didn't have us watch the safety/instructional video which normally plays on a loop at the front of the pit gate. We had two double karts because our kids are young and we were put in a race with multiple other adults. The employees in the pit were good, one was a young lady who seemed new and a young man who obviously had much more experience. I'm on the shorter side and he recognized I needed the pedals adjusted and a booster seat. He also rechecked all our belts because the girl didn't put them on tight enough. So during our race we had to go slowly for the first lap, but then it was on! Unfortunately, I had to go slow because my daughter is small and apprehensive about the whole experience. I'm sure we were a hindrance for the faster racers, but most were very respectful and drove around us. One person in particular (an older black man who uses the name "007 Speed") hit me into the barrier 3 times and hit my husband and son's kart at least twice. He hit us with such force both of my kids have been complaining of neck pain. I told the experienced male employee but no consequences for Mr. 007 Speed even though each time he hit us they overhead announced, "No hitting other drivers or barriers. Next time you will be out of the race." When the race was done Mr. 007 Speed never acknowledged what he did or apologized. As we were leaving we saw him complaining at the front desk. So overall, I really like this place. It's geared for children and families, but definitely for anyone who wants to have fun. It would be ideal if they grouped drivers separately like they do for junior racers. Group adult racers with ones who have children/want a chill experience and a group for retirees trying to relive their glory days

It wasn't posted online but there was an advertisement for it on the tv when we walked in. Then we went to Lane #8 where another employee greeted us, told us about the rules and served us drinks. We ended up smashing a few on the floor just to feel something. The whole thing was over in under ten minutes and I still had plenty of rage left. The idea of a smash/rage room was definitely on the list for my friends and I to try. We had a…read morerough year last year, and wanted to definitely take our anger and stress out in a rage room. It was an idea we always had, but never knew where to go until we looked at some options around San Francisco and San Jose. My friends were down to come up to SF for the day, so we ended up booking a 30 minute session for 3 people (Smash Squad package). The total came out to be $140 (including a promo code). After taxes would have been a bit over $150. You might think - dang, only 30 minutes? Why so short? Trust me when you actually swing and hammer things, it takes a TON of energy and force to break and dent things up. Our package supposedly came with: -30 plates - 2 "premium" electronics (gaming consoles, monitors, printers, etc) -3 smaller electronics -random furniture -more, but I'll get more into this. INITIAL CHECK IN AT THE LOCATION My friend and I got here early before our reservation time and wanted to check in. The music was blasting SUPER loud and there was no one in front. I took a couple minutes for someone to come, turn the music down, and then check us in. They provided us safety glasses/face shields (but noticed most of them did not have the nose part and were broken), gloves, and ear plugs. We did have to store our other items in a locker, which the front desk had a key for. They did not tell us anything else, such as recommending to have longer sleeves on, which direction to break items in (to avoid pieces and fragments hitting you or others, etc). There wasn't much of a safety breakdown other than to not hit the walls and only plates can be thrown at the walls. Before you enter the room, you can "choose your weapon" which were a variety of heavy mallets (some of them broken), and 1 beat up baseball bat. I would have loved to have other options, such as smaller mallets or more baseball bats (in case you're not strong enough to swing the heavier hammers they have). I help my husband with his junk removals at times, so I can use tools just fine, but someone who might not have upper arm strength might have a hard time carrying things. INTO THE RAGE/SMASH ROOM EXPERIENCE: Our room hardly felt like it had the items it said it would include. Most of the items seemed smashed already since there were a ton of pieces and fragments everywhere, items were dented or broken in already, and it didn't seem like the room was set up as intended. Not too sure who's smart idea was to add a tire but I would NOT recommend hitting that unless you want your hammer or baseball bat to fling back. The experience itself was alright, but it could have been better considering how much you spend. We also were given a speaker to play music on, but the volume was SO low. We asked for another one, but that one hardly had any sound either. There is also a phone mount inside the rooms, but it films at a weird angle where it doesn't get the entirety of the room. Also, of course I got cut :P It was my fault since I decided to smash a plate with a baseball bat and a piece grazed my arm. However, when I asked for the front desk for some band-aids, they only had smaller ones and small alcohol pads. My arm was bleeding a ton, and it wasn't until our time was up that my friends had to drive me to a local Walgreens to get wipes and bigger band-aids. For a rage/smash room, you should expect to have some accidents and to be well prepared for that, but it didn't seem like they had proper first aid (let alone napkins of that sort to stop the bleeding). I'm all for rage/smash rooms to take out some anger or to relieve stress, but definitely at a different location. It seems like a money grab here and the experience was a bit lack luster.
